Middleton’s cap hit won’t start with a 2. Evolving hockey has him at 1.13M on a 3 year deal. And 1.5M on a 4/5 year deal.

I think the Kings are more in on Debrincat and Chychrun now. This is a fair offer for Fiala though from a Kings perspective. I believe New Jersey can beat it though.

I don't understand why you'd have to give us the upgrade in the second round. We might do that trade without the Vancouver pick entirely.

This trade was all you. Well done sir. Hopefully it gets done. I think everyone would be happy with this outcome.

I don’t think we move a 1st, but it would a protected 2023 or 2024 if we did. And we could use a year of Kulikov.

Big Trade Attempt 4
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNHockey19</b></div><div>What would you add</div></div>
Fiala in reality should return Holtz and probably something else or 7th overall from Ottawa or 13th overall+ from NYI or 11th overall+ from Anaheim or 19th overall+good prospect from LA. So that makes the rest of your trade Dumba+Talbot+5th for Zacha+2nd. Dumba by himself should return at least a late 1st+prospect. Talbot probably a late 2nd in this draft or a 3rd in 2023.
So in reality, you're skipping out on something like 7th overall + late 1st + prospect + 2nd/3rd for Holtz + unnecessary player in Zacha + 2nd.
Give me the option where Brackett has more picks to work with while still having this roster:
Kap-Hartman-Zucc
Boldy-Rossi-Gaudreau
Greenway-Eriksson Ek-Foligno
Brodin-Kulikov
Middleton-Spurgeon
Merrill-Addison

I think it’s going to be difficult to get full value for Fiala with all the scorers entering the market. In this case we get a coveted 2023 first, NJD #4 prospect Thompson, and Zacha a center with promise. I don’t mind it tbh.

I'm talking about Dumba and Talbot. I doubt the Devils have any interest in them at all.
Devils will not trade for Fiala without an extension in place.

Said this elsewhere but I very much so doubt the Devils have any interest in Addison. Tom has a type for defense and dudes under 6' ain't it.
The only way I personally, a random internet poster, see the Devils moving Holtz and 2 to the Wild is with Wallstedt and Fiala coming back.
But that would never happen.

I guess I just don't see New Jersey moving both Holtz and the 2nd overall pick. Too much quantity from the Wild's side and not enough quality, Khovanov and the 6th are essentially worthless. I think the main pieces here from the Devils perspective are Fiala since they need a top line forward and Talbot since they need goaltending. I would argue Addison is a good pickup for them as well, but Devils fans have told me that Fitzgerald wants to get bigger on the blue line.
So if the objective is to acquire either Holtz or 2 OA, you're probably looking at either:
1. Fiala and Talbot for Holtz and maybe NJD 2nd (probably next year's 2nd)
2. Fiala, 2 OA, and Talbot for 2 OA and maybe a tiny add.

19-20: 20 games with Staal or Zucker and puts up 14g/13a. (looks like a hot streak at face value)
20-21 to Boldy being called up: 81 games with junk 27g, 34a.
After Boldy was called up: 51 games, 26g/38a. (too many games to be called a hot streak)

It was definitely clickbait news. I've seen it, and they weren't credible.
And of course they weren't. But that doesn't mean he wants out, either. He admitted he was pissed, but that's normal. He wants to play. He calmed down, talked it out with Guerin and Evason during exit interviews and has stated to Russo that he both wants and plans to be back next year.

It's pretty simple. MIN = Cap Hell for the next 3 years
Can't afford Fiala's asking price.
MIN has a pretty decent system, so the loss of a 3-5 ranked prospect isn't going to kill them
Current pick is at 24, and a player drafted there probably won't wind up in a top 5 prospect spot anytime soon
Zacha gives them a young player who still has upside at a reasonable price
The 2OA most likely gives them a player ready to step in now and contribute (or maybe next year) with the entry level contract coming up as they move out of cap hell
This is a good deal for MIN, and at the perfect time.
I'm not sure what you expect to get for Fiala.........Even though he's an RFA, he's got Arb rights guaranteeing at least 5.6, but with his performance will be awarded a lot more (and will ask for it too). Last thing you want is a key part of your team holding out and getting less for him.

I really like the NJ trade for both teams.
I'm not so sure CAR takes Kulikov off your hands though
Signings all look pretty competitive to market value, though I do think Husso might top $4mil in free agency and probably longer term.
I'd leave Hartman on the top line and let Zacha play with the kids (unless you're trying to protect Rossi with him).
All in all, this is a nice piece of work.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNHockey19</b></div><div>I'm just curious, what do you think the big downsides are for a 2 year deal? We would have about $15 million in cap in this scenario for the 23-24 season, which I think would be more than enough for what we would need at that time. And then in the 24-25 season this deal would be off the books and the larger buyout seasons would have more cap dedicated to the expiring ELCs</div></div>
Offering sheeting is usually a big no no in the GM circle. You expose yourself to retaliation next time your player goes to RFA. It’s typically viewed poorly. And usually when you offer sheet you want a longer term deal to make the pick(s) worth losing. I’d say if BG wanted JP he’d just try and trade for his rights, wouldn’t go the offer sheet route. Just my two cents
