I'd be shocked if Michkov falls out of the top 5 or 6. He's a Patrick Kane/Panarin/Kucherov type of talent hands down. 4 or 5 teams (beyond Bedard pick at #1), will have a very hard time passing on him as he is hands down the 2nd best player in the draft with Fantilli close behind him. The only reason he obviously won't go number 2 is the Russian contract factor and Fantilli being a elite prospect himself and very close in talent level.

Where it gets a little interesting is taking Carlsson before Michkov as Michkov is better by almost every analysis. After Leo, the talent drops in the draft from elite/franchise/all star locks down to top of the lineup prospects starting with Will Smith IMO. I could possibly see Will Smith making a case to pick over Michkov's contract situation but someone needs be really high on Will Smith or ready to compete in a year or two and can't wait a few years for Michkov. Once you hit pick #6, I just don't see rebuilding teams not having the patience to grab a franchise player.

To frame this up from my point of view, Michkov IMO is not far behind Bedard as far as talent and upside. It's like comparing a Pastrnak to Kane to Toews if they were all drafted the same year in terms of Bedard - Michkov - Fantilli. You could probably look at Leo Carlsson as a Rantanen type of player adding him into the mix. Beyond that, the draft talent takes a noticeable step down to the degree of passing on michkov (Kane/Kucherov/Panarin) is a giant risk.
