Mark my words, he'll still be a top pairing d-man at 37 year old and will be a solid top-4 d-man until 40. Plus, don't forget that with inflation, Weber's salary won't hurt THAT bad until maybe the last season and a half of his career...</div></div>
That's nice.

Wow, you're gonna give up Kappy and a 4th to rent Brodie, but not willing to pay more than Bracco and a 2021 3rd for Georgiev, who is not a rental. Interesting work.
P.S. I hope Winterpeg wants Ceci, that would be a sweet unload for TML!

Wayne Simmonds is done. Don't trade for him
Weber is having his best season since around 2015, you need to give up more than that to get him. Something like Liljegren, Kaoanen and a 2021 2nd rounder. He's worth that much
WInnipeg doesn't need yet another bottom pairing d-man (Sbisa, Bitetto, Kulikov, Dahlstrom, Beaulieu...), they need a legit top-4 LD-man</div></div>
Agreed on Simmonds.
Weber deal is an overpay, for him. Yes, he's finally having a good season, but is overpaid, Leafs are cap limited, and he's signed until old.

That trade is such hot garbage for TML, I'm very glad Ryan is not GM. Weber has been underperforming until this year, and is signed for big money until he is old, even with some retained. Tougher has not mattered to Leafs management so far, crazy to knee jerk the other direction like this.

He does a lot of things that guys like Colin Miller or Josh Manson get so much love for, but he does it at 900k.
If Ottawa isn't wowed by an offer he's staying in Ottawa. If it were up to me he wouldn't even be made available.</div></div>
Agreed. Doesn't make sense to move him, he's young, good, and has years of team control left. Rebuilding with him in the mix makes sense. Getting a fair return for what he brings won't be easy, and might turn out real bad. BUT, Ottawa is the place it might happen. Great history of bad evaluations of D in trades. See Phaneuf, D. and Zaitsev, N.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Paul13</b></div><div>I agree the Leafs won't get Dumba 1 for 1 with Kapanen but he could be part of the deal. That said I can't see the Leafs trading away 1 of their top 4 forwards while they look like a strong playoff team without Dumba. If Dubas did that he should be fired. If Wild want to get Nylander from Leafs they will have to wait until after the season, then there may be an opportunity.
Wild need to get younger so if the Leafs offered Ceci, Liljegren, and Kapanen possibly a 3rd for the Ceci cap dump I would be inclined to except that deal from them. Not interested in Bracco I think at best he is a 3rd line wing.
Also I believe Leafs blow their best trade bait on Georgiev.</div></div>
Great, great points here. But I highly doubt the Leafs are into Georgiev for a high price. He is RFA, not a rental, and might want to be someone's starter next year. TML don't need that, with a Russian keeper signing seeming more realistic.

Ok, could the Wild retain 1.5-2M? Kappy, Lilly and a 3rd = deal for me. Our development team is too good to worry about losing Lilly in there, and we could still trade for other D with the stacked forward depth...

Just noticed DeMelo is scratched on this team too, while Rielly is injured, so he doesn't make the top 7 D!
Also, isn't this giving up a lot for the Ryan Miller rental, even before saving Ana the Eaves money? I do think they should rent, not go after Georgiev or Martinez if looking for this positions, but damn!

Not sure where the line is, or how far apart those two states are, but either maybe available or available has been the talk. Pretty sure you also know that those are the facts. Semantics are only maybe helpful.
And of course it would have to be for a real offer, not Kappy and a 2nd, no matter how much you like crazy speedsters

No, I don't think that's true.
And no, they couldn't possibly have their sights set this high, or he wouldn't have been mentioned as "available" by a few sources.
But this won't come close to happening, so Wilder people can dream. Likely a more future oriented package going their way, that's why the Leafs fans have talked young forwards and picks.

I like what you've done here. This team crushes things when Rielly gets back out there.
Hartman included to keep the salaries in line I guess, but it sure hurts to lose Johnsson and Kappy in that deal. Hartman is an immense downgrade. At least he has good advanced numbers this year?
Great team with Dumba and Copp added man. Going towards a bright next few years too!

Yeah that's a whole lot for Dumba, but he sure would be nice to have, for years to come, if the cap hit was lower. Leafs have too many $3 million wingers too. I say Kappy for Dumba could be a good framework. If you had to involve Edmonton to get the interest in the right shooting top 6 winger, I see how that works. Wild retain $2 million and let's do all this!

REASLISTIC DEALS Dell to Leafs Dillon to Oilers Melker to Flames Burns to Isles
Leafs fans were just hearing from an Edmonton fan how they would trade D for wingers, so I'm not sure about that Oilers deal. They shouldn't be renters anyway, they're a possible playoff team, but far from contending.
The Dell deal doesn't do diddly either, backup rentals cost way less than that. Trade Dillon to the Leafs also! That's my solution. Maybe then SJS get their 2nd from Toronto. But a 2021 2nd, they can afford that easier with the 2020 1st previously traded. Plus Bracco, and Petan, and Kevin Gravel too, he can soak up some D minutes.

Toronto Edmonton perfect trade partners
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>Take out Khaira, all the picks and then Edmonton adds at least 1 2nd rounder. Larsson isn't very good and Kapanen is on pace for almost 50 points playing on the 3rd line. Oiler fans should know by now, for them to get good wingers, it's not going to come cheap, especially since they can't seem to do it themselves through the draft.</div></div>
The Leafs can't use Khaira in any way, even with Kappy traded, Mikky and Moore injured... so that's a bad sign for this trade. Funny to trade a depth winger TO the Leafs isn't it? And his possession numbers stink, so that's just garbage.
But, it should be noted that Larsson is a responsible, veteran RD, with respectable possession stats. So Larsson for Kappy definitely makes sense to build from. Not sure it can work for TML, but reasonable as a framework.
