Bear won't get near that much. He has no arbitration rights. Maybe around what Smith will get but doubt it. Probably bonus heavy again at 2mil base. Probably a mill and 2 years to much for cracknell, he's going to play in the minors all year barring 3 roster players getting injured

I'm not "going off", I'm trying to present a logical argument as to why Kris Russell (as you said, expiring as well) being considered a cap dump and Marc Staal not being considered a cap dump makes very little sense. Not everything is a personal attack, friend.

Oilers deal is pretty good dumping a bad d for a backup who can be an asset in the playoffs for EDM.

I'm curious to know if you see how contradictory your two statements are?
Kris Russell and Marc Staal are pretty much in the same boat now. Here though, one is a dump that you don't have to pay to get rid of, and the other is a dump that you get paid to take on?

Yeah, that's what I was about to point out, EDM takes it and runs, asking NO QUESTION

Fixing the bottom-6
deals like this just dont make sense. even if Fitz doesnt have the foresight to realize that in 6 years from now, the devils are probably gonna need an extra mil in cap space, that alone wouldt be worth a 3rd rounder. On top of that buyouts still involve an exchange or real dollars. I don't know how you can look ownership in the eye and say 'hey I legitimately just bought a 3rd round draft pick for 6 million dollars of your money. please make arrangements to get the funds together.'

The idea of McDavid having Kassian and Wood as his two wingers is such a shame. All I can think about is his face at the draft lottery... <em>Hello darkness my old friend</em>

I don't disagree, I just see Byfield as the player with more potential and more impact. He plays C, h'es big, can score. I personally just think he's the better choice at #2 but I get why people would pick Stutzle over him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Think that LA takes Stutzle. They need a player like him more, as he can play wing as well and brings some good speed they need. They also have a huge amount of C's as it is.
Also LA has Marco Sturm as their assistant coach, so I wouldn't be surprised if he'd try to steer Blake towards choosing a fellow German.</div></div>
I’ve always said this and always will, in most cases drafting by positional need is dumb. They’re going to take the best player imo and that’s byfield. Plus wouldn’t you want a guy that can play like Kopitar to learn from him? I get they have a plethora of C prospects, but the solution is as easy as moving one of them to the wing. IMO they’d be dumb not to take byfield.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SadlyAnOilFan</b></div><div>I just don’t see a reason for Edmonton to trade RNH since he very likely re-signs with the team. I do think Gudreau Is clearly the better player so I also don’t see what’s in it for Calgary. Plus when each players contract is up, Both are more likely to walk, so I feel like both teams end up losing term.
The other concern I have for Edmonton is that means we will have two of the league’s smallest players on each of our top two lines. What happens in the playoffs when the refs put the whistles away and all of a sudden neither of these players can move around the ice?</div></div>
I wouldn’t from Edmonton side. Nuge is more well round player smarter defensively.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leon_HART_Draisaitl </b></div><div>Stats. Look it up.</div></div>
I'm not sure how looking at just 2 players on each team gives you much of a picture of any player's contribution to their team. A better way to look at is how the player's contribution compares to his team as a whole. This is each player's points divided into his teams total offense, to give an accurate perspective of how much the team depended on the player for offensive success.
Draisaitl: 49.33%
Pastrnak: 41.85%
Panarin: 40.77%
Eichel: 40.41%
MacKinnon: 39.41%
"player judged most valuable to his team"
And yes, not since Jagr won the Hart in 1999 has any player even approached 50%.

Last time I checked Edmonton has the best player in the world. Alongside of Draisaitil.</div></div>
Hey didn’t Malkin win a heart trophy? (Absolutely he did)
And would you consider Malkin the best player on that penguin’s team (Absolutely nobody wouldn’t)
Hmmm... math’s not adding up
Draisaitl was the Most valuable player for Edmonton this year, wether McDavid was there or not is irrelevant. Just because we have two players who are more important to our team than the best players on most other teams are to them, doesn’t mean one of them can’t win the hart trophy. Why is that so hard?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hoshii96</b></div><div>IMO it should go to Panarin, but it'll go to Draisaitl because the NHL is always biased to point totals. Same goes with the Norris, Josi is going to be robbed.</div></div>
a few points I would like to make....
1) just because Mcdavid and Draisaitl both score a ton of points doesn't diminish their individual success . To be clear Oilers don't make the playoffs without either player. they both massively impact the success of this team. Oiler and Leafs had similar records now please tell me what team on paper is better? rhetorical yeah if Draisaitl wins its bc he was the best player this season by a mile excluding Mcdavid)
2) Mack is on a stacked team... more than Draisaitl . look at his winger depth compared to the Oilers. Panarin had an amazing season but they more than likely don't make the playoffs and considering the goal is to make playoffs and win the cup it hardly matters how important his contributions are. obviously they made it with a pandemic but normal circumstances they probably don't. Eichel lmfao his team didn't make it with 24 teams making it he had a great year but his team improved and the results are all the same. hes not the MVP. again bc his value to the team doesn t matter since they aren't competing for a cup...
3) THE MAIN GOAL IN HOCKEY IS TO WIN A CUP. IF YOUR TEAM DOESNT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS YOU SHOULDNT WIN THE MVP. THAT DOESNT MEAN YOU ARENT GOOD/ ONE OF OR THE BEST PLAYER IN THE NHL BUT TO BE THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER YOU NEED TO ATLEAST BE ABLE TO WIN THE PRIZE...… GREAT EXAMPLE IS THAT THE CONN DOESNT GO TO THE BEST PLAYER IN THE PLAYOFFS IT GOES TO THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER ON THE WINNING TEAM (normally atleast a finals team player)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Right, and if he has a down season his value will fall and if the oilers and his agent can't agree his value will plummet; Holland is gambling and should sign him right away otherwise too much risk.</div></div>

Holland has had better offers already, nobody is going to accept your offer no matter how convinced you are that it's "decent value".

As I said, Holland has a similar offer last fall and didn't take it. Since then Jesse dominated the Liiga and led his team to a 1st place finish, proving that he was 100% recovered from his hip injury/ surgery last spring. It makes sense to think the ask has gone up since last fall, so that's probably why Oilers fans don't like your offer.
Besides, if Puljujarvi does come back to Edmonton he'll step right into a top-9 role, something that no 2nd round pick will do for 4-5 years - if ever.

Yes, that is one of the reasons why Botterill added Johansson.
I think Botterill wanted to put Reinhart at #2 center and Johansson at #3 as I have outlined above.
I do not know how closely you follow the Sabres, but last year, the team tanked right after Berglund left the team
This year the team fell apart after Sobotka was out for the season and Hutton suffered an eye disorder.
