Under a flat cap, a realistic WSH offer might be Kuznetsov, Alexeyev, and Hagelin for Marner and Engvall. An 80 pt center who's good in the playoffs is worth more than a 90 pt wing who isn't, but the age difference is worth an NHL-ready LHD prospect. Hagelin's better on PK than Engvall, which helps Tor. Engvall is better at playing center, which gives WSH insurance if McMichael stumbles. Caps still need to try to add a center over the offseason, with I don't know what cap space, but overall, I think Kuznetsov and Marner could grow after a change of scenery, and Marner is more valuable.
Would Tavares play 3C or 1L?</div></div>
idk. The idea of aquiring Wilson was to toughen up the lineup and to have the lower cap hit. The idea of my posting is to shed salary, aside from the Hamilton signing.

I don't think Marner gets you Laine and Jones. And Leafs want to avoid head cases in players like Laine.

A change of scenery and playing with playoff veterans could spark Marner's game. If the caps trade Mantha they have the cap space to keep Ovechkin and Marner, and Marner easily replaces Mantha/Wilson's offence. Great top line of Ovi, Backstrom, and Marner.

I do like Ekholm but I really don't see Rielly walking. He's the longest serving Leaf on the team and like Hyman would try to do everything to stay.

MTL Rebuilding New Plan
I disagree with you. Montreal is a middle of the pack team in the league, and they have a whole bunch of picks in this upcoming draft. Caufield looks great in the AHL, Allen will probably get claimed by Seattle so they'll need a backup, and they still need that elite number one centre. They're a few pieces away from being a serious contender. Check out my team https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2353667

Post Dermott
Galchenyuk will be lucky if he gets 1 mill, and yeah Sandin and Liljegren are ahead of Dermott at this time next year on the depth chart. Like the Driedger signing, but if Rittich shines in his time with the Leafs they might consider bringing him back. Would rather use the Riley Nash money to sign Foglino. Whose taken in the expansion draft?

2021-2022 MN Wild Off-season
Why are you exposing Dumba over Suter? Suter's a great dman and everything, but he's 36 and got 4 more years of 7.5 million, he won't be the effective dman he is for that long, and that's a lot of lettuce. I don't think you even need to protect Suter, I doubt Seattle wants that much term for a 36 year old dman. Trading him to Vancouver before the expansion draft means Vancouver will have to protect him, so I'm guessing its done after?

my lines tomorrow
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ZachHymanForTheHart</b></div><div>I’d try something more balanced tbh. Just to test it out.
And then test it out again once Foligno is in the lineup.
Galch - Matthews - Marner
Robertson - Tavares - Hyman
Mikheyev - Engvall - Nylander
Kerfoot - Spezza - Simmonds
This would give us 3 lines for the opposition to really have to worry about offensively. It also give Robertson a better look in a scoring role.
Engvall and Simmonds are more of an energy line, I don’t think Robertson works in that role.
He has a really good shot, he should be given a better chance to use that.
Edit: *When Nylander is back*
Tomorrow would look slightly different. Top 6 stays the same though. Throw Simmonds with Engvall and Mikheyev, and Thornton with Spezza and Kerfoot.</div></div>
Robertson definitely belongs in the top 6, that's his home, maybe put Nylander on the second line and Hyman down to the third,

A wasted 1st rounder
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howisjulienstillhere</b></div><div>The confusing thing is how the leafs keep getting pushed around come playoff time but when the make a trade for some size and physicality with some grit they get mad that they gave up to much.
Is it too much? Sure, but the leafs have a real opportunity here to do some damage in the playoffs. They play canadian teams for the first two rounds, and then you’re in the semis. The draft is weak and very uncertain and if you win a round or two(which your odds are much higher after the trade) the pick becomes very low.
And even if that player Becomes a good nhler you still went for the cup.
Coming from someone who watched his team have good seasons but never get the piece or pieces to make them champions, you should be happy</div></div>
Okay well said. I've just seen this team in the past give up great players and picks for older rentals and have it really backfire (Owen Nolan for Brad Boyes for example).

I'll put it this way. Do you think Toronto would lead the division if it was the same as last years (with Tampa, Boston, Florida) AND have the lowest GAA as well? McDavid and Draisatl are superstars, but they can't play 60 minutes a night. Edmonton is an average team with two elite players.
