The generalization idea was that one guy posts this and you say Leaf fans. I wrote exactly that did I not? Pretty sure I did. I have never understood why people take a shot a multiple people based on one fan's opinion...but that is just me I guess.

Anyways my point is that he is not worth the contract and yes he had one bounce back year (singular), but that trend will not continue and you must know that. Why would someone take on that contract and screw themselves in the future. It doesn't make sense...does it? If your panties are in a bunch because I said "broken down", then do you he has a lot of hard miles on him from a ton of games and heavy minutes and that has affected him. Since you said bounce-back season then yes you have realized that I guess or what would he be bouncing back from?

Doughty's Contract: I understand that Doughty doesn't have an ideal contract, we can't do anything about that except hope he continues to play well once the rookies are better or he gets better support. The guy has consistently been give rookie/budget pick-up support since 2015, even this season he played the majority with a rookie.

But the main reason for declining any trade with retention is that I don't understand why paying Tavares $13.75M (adjusted with Doughty's retention) helps the Kings somehow, especially considering their future center depth.

Will he be worth his contract for 6 years, likely not, but he still looks like a top-pair NHL player (played the most minutes in the NHL last season) to me and the Kings still have $20M in cap space so I don't see moving his contract as a point of urgency as he is still one of the best players on the team. Once he looks like he can't play at the NHL level the Kings will buy him out, which becomes cheaper each year of his contract.

As for asking if you watch him play: You indicated he is broken, which I assumed was he no longer was NHL top-pair caliber, which is why I believe you might not watch him regularly if you said something to that affect.</div></div>
