So you want to give up Chad Johnson, Fasching and 2rd round for a backup goalie, why???? Overpay much? Lehner, I think will be a very good starting goalie once the D starts playing well in front of him. People said we over payed for a goalie when used our 2nd, 1st round pick to get him, so your trading a very good veteran back goalie, a promising prospect that’s probably a year or so away from being a full time player and a second pick seems way over the top. Now your Lehner your picking a mediocre goalie that’s been bounding between the AHL and NHL for a starting NHL goalie with a 2nd and 3rd round pick just seems like a huge downgrade at goalie over both trades and we would get what out of it? An extra 3rd and 6th round pick while also subtracting Fasching? This math isn’t adding up even if we were to be tanking but then again why would be tanking after signing Eichel to a 80M contract? Don’t get the throwing Larsson away at this point for 3rd round pick either…. Don’t know enough about Warner to judge that trade.

I am trying to figure out why so many people are making lines with Reinhart as 3rd line center..... Reinhart has been a very good RW next to both Ryan and Jack the last two years, just see him needing a little more consistency. Fasching is not going to be starting first line RW next to Jack, if he makes the team it will be closer to 3rd or 4th line RW. Girgensons is set to center the 3rd or 4th line. I’m also trying to figure out how your pushing Baptiste to the LW when he’s a nature RW. Josefson will be on the LW, his nature position. This means Moulson will probably end up playing somewhere on LW, personally I think he’s going to end up next Ryan on the second line. I also don’t see McCabe and Bogosian playing 3rd pairing, they both should be starting 2rd pairing.
I believe the real mix in the line up as it stands right now will be who makes the team Fasching or Baptiste as the 4th line RW. The other part that is kind of up in the air right now is which line Moulson, Josefson, and Pouliot will play on the LW, unless you think Nylander is going to make the team and pick up one of the LW spots.

How are you putting Okposo and Kane on the 3rd line???? I would much rather see Okposo and Kane playing O'Reilly or Jack then being banished to the 3rd line. No way Baptiste and Pouliot will being in the top 6. I'm also not sure Col would give up Landeskog for that.

Opening Night
If we see Nylander in the lineup to start the year I think he will be playing LW. Girgensons will be the Center on the 3rd line and Sam will be on Jack's RW. Sam is too good to be on the 3rd line. In 2 years of playing wing with Jack and Ryan, he has around 45 point each year and about 20 goals a year average right now. Why would you want to move him down the 3rd line and switch him back to a center? I think Nylander is more natural on the left side anyway. Not to mention that would give the added bonus of dropping Pouliot down to the 3rd line which probably were he belongs. Gorges and Beaulieu as the second pairing is the wrong spot as well they should swapped with McCabe and Bogo. Personally I think Gorges will be 7th D with Antipin on that 3rd pair.

2017-18 Sabres Win!
Think you would be looking at Sam on Jack's line RW with Girgensons centering the 3rd line. That would mean Pominville and Baptiste get bumped down a line and would probably mean Moulson get put on Ryan's wing with Kane on Jack's LW. Jack's line would also really be the first line not the second.

Not sure how your getting a 1st round pick out of Colorado for Kane even retaining half his salary. Colorado isn't going to be a contender this year and a trade like that would only be a deadline deal to a team pushing for the playoffs. Gorges is a depth defensemen at this point, so you might be able to squeeze out a 3rd or 4th round for him at the deadline but I think the Sabres will in the hunt this year so don't see them giving away these playing at the deadline.

I'm not sure the Sabres are going to go all in on Kane with an 8 year 6.5 per. I like Kane and think he brings a lot to the team just think he needs show more maturity and consistency before a contract like is handed out to him. I also think Guhle will be sin the line playing second pair minutes by 2018, so not sure I would make that trade. I think Nylander will be better than Mittelstadt in the long run look for him to made a step this year or next. I see Nylander playing on Jack's or Ryan's line depending on what we do with Kane.

Projected Lines 17/18
Personally I like Kane on Eichel's wing. I think Moulson could have a rebound year if played with O'Reilly and Okposo. Pouliot should be on LW either 3rd line. Bailey is RW so would push him to that 4th spot. Then maybe throw Josefson on the 4th line LW to push Dlo to odd man out. Anitipin should really be in the D pairing probably 3rd pair. McCabe needs to be in the 1st or 2nd pairing, he made some big steps last year. Gorges will probably setting keeping Chad and Dlo company. Rodrigues will probably be Centering a line in Roch.

You should sign Girgensons as RFA that would give you another Center. Reinhart should really be starting RW on Eichel's line Pommer will probably be 3rd line RW with Larsson or Girgensons at center. I also think you should McCabe to 1st or 2nd pairing. There is a few other changes I would make just some top line thoughts for yah.

Are you trying to see how bad you make the team by buying out:
•Kyle Okposo: $5,888,889
•Rasmus Ristolainen: $866,667
•Jack Eichel: $231,250
Then placing Zach Bogosian and Nathan Beaulieu on LTIR both of which aren't hurt. Then you trade nothing for Valimaki..... I think you should delete this or try to fill out roster with something thats realist or tell us what your trying to look at.

I had only thought about the Vanek signing because our left side looks pritty weak right now. Bringing in Fisher and/or Winnik would mean dropping Girgensons, who I'm not really ready to give up on just yet. I didn't even think about Gionta, more from just overlooking it than anything else. I do think if you sign Gionta right now, you will not be seeing any of the forward prospects out of camp this year. Maybe if you do bring in Fisher and/or Winnik you will see Girg playing LW on one of these lines and the change could help him progress.

Kane should be on Eichel's line. Baptiste if he makes the team out of camp should play his natural side is RW not LW. Can't understand Okposo not being written into O'Reilly's line with pen. How do you have a player who has played a total of 24 NHL games with 5 assists and 0 goals on the second line???? Moulson I will be in the lineup before Josefson sees the 4th line. Maybe a Moulson, Girgensons, Pominville line for 3rd line. Maybe the 4th line having which every LW makes the team out of camp, Larsson, and Baptiste. I'm also think Bogo and McCabe with McCabe on the left will be second pairing and Beaulieu/Antipin will be 3rd pairing. I don't know Pouliot very well so not sure he fits second line minutes or not. Maybe Nylander can take a big step forward this year and challenge for that second line LW spot which would bump Pouliot down to 4th line.

I like Jagr and all but 2 years at 5.5 per is really high for what he will get. I don't see Jagr getting anything other than 1 year contract since he is 45 right now. I also don't see him making 1.5 mil a year more than last year. I think if he gets a contract, it will be in the 2.5 for 1 year range. With Jagr on the team, I know you are trying to put him in the top 6 which makes sense but I'm with Skyraider112 on having O'Reilly at center.

Granted the year before Lehner was hurt and only played 21 games but last year he showed he could be our starting goaltender. It makes no sense to me, not only are you trading him for a worse goaltender but your also giving up a 4th round pick on top of it. That trade really makes no sense to me at all. If you really don’t like Lehner and want to trade him, don’t trade for a goaltender with worse stats unless you’re the one getting the additional picks.</div></div>
This is a trade from another team i made, not that you'll see this explanation, with Lehner going to arbitration, Botterill may sense an unfavorable ruling and swap him before. Most teams addressed their goaltending issues but DET is still on shakey ground wanting to move Mrazek, who has put up great numbers in the league. Mrazek potentially could cost lest than Lehner as well and has his contract up after the year. Also your befuddled that i traded for a goalie with worse stats but thats completely wrong unless you only compare last year, not only that their are other factors that go into comparing players. I like Lehner, I dont like Lehner at 5 million + per season.</div></div>
Mrazek was a mess last year, yes the year before he was ok but Lehner still had better numbers once he came from his injury so I still see him as a better goalie. I think Lehner was offered like 3.25 for a qualifying offer and yes he did file for arbitration but normally players don't actually make it to the hearing before signing a contract. I don't see him getting 5+ a year in arbitration so think it will be settled before then.

Maybe he can rebound or maybe he’s stuck on the second PP and 3rd/4th line. I hate seeing Moulson on the ice at 5mil per but I don’t think trading him for someone with longer term and bigger health issues is a good idea.</div></div>
Moulson wont rebound. Take those rose colored glasses off. MacArthur's problems are injuries, at least the Sabres can put him on the shelf. He's a very productive player though and had a great return in the playoffs. I'm not worried about his production</div></div>
MacArthur's injury problems consern me specially to risk over 3 more years. I don't think Moulson will rebound either but he is still a serviceable 3rd/4th liner this year and could see the Sabres buying out his last year if he's going to hurt the ability to sign RFA's. Right now we do not have a CAP issue or some dire need to shead his contract. I think, if your adding a player with questionable health with more years at about the same money you hurt the future a lot more.

There has been talk on WGR 550 about Scandella playing along side Ristolainen, so can understand why he has him slotted there. McCabe and Bogo will be second pairing since they have showed they can play well together. I'm fairly sure Beaulieu and Antipin will end up 3rd pair. Your other comments seem spot on. He has a few other teams he made where he puts Baptiste on that Eichel which is insane to me and putting your best scorer last year on the 3rd line makes no sense at all.

So your going to give up a 3rd line Center, 3rd/4th line Winger, and a 3rd round pick for a 3rd line center. Not only that but we are also stuck with him for 3 more years. If we hold onto Moulson we only have to put up with him for 2 more years.
As I mentioned in your other trade: Not sure why you would trade Lehner for Mrazek? What If Murray Didn't Accelerate The Rebuild
If your looking at Save% Lehner is 5th amoung starting goalies (+30 GP). He is also 13th in GAA for goalies over 30GP which isn't bad when you consider how many injuries we have had to our starting top 4D this year. Bogo out for 22 games and Kulikov out for 25 games. We also had to call up our JR's guy for a few games because we were so bad off keeping D on the ice. I think Lehner has a chance to be a top 10 or top 5 goalie. Not saying I would rank him that this year but most nights he gives the guys a chance to win games and even steal one here and there.

I’m not sure why Edmonton would trade Draisaitl, I’m also not sure why the Sabres trade for him since he would just another player the Sabres would have to protect in the expansion draft. Not to mention he’s a year closer to RFA money which he will get a lot of. Reinhart is as good of a player as Draisaitl, so the trade really doesn’t make sense to me.
We traded Compher for Fasching they are very similar players not sure why we would trade them back again at this point when neither one has progressed to full time in the NHL as of yet. That type trade is normal considered a “Hockey” trade and you don’t just swap plays back and forth every year like that.
We are not trade Gorges for a 5th round pick, price is way to low and yah why would Montreal trade for him when they traded him to us?
Myers was over paid and underperformed for us so we traded him away where he has still underperformed so why would we trade for him back?
Lehtonen really???? I mean really??? Have you seen the Stars goals play this year? If the Stars had a goalie that could stop they probably would won the cup last year instead of losing in the second round, they also would also be in a playoff spot now. Lehner is a much better goalie being paid a lot less then anything the Stars could offer us in goal.
Smith and Foligno are having about the same year as each other difference is Marcus is making a mil less a year. Smith also already has an extension signed for like 5 or 6 year as 5mil per. Marcus will be an RFA at the end of the year looking to step up but I’m guessing not to a contract making that much. Not to mention your also giving up more picks then I would like.
Not sure how the Fowler trade really works for anyone involved……

Are you kidding me? McCabe is in his second year and has been playing great as a first pair D at 23..... That he's even being consider as part of a trade is laughable. As for the Kane, Nylander, and a 1st proposal, a legitimate top 6 forward, last years first round and this years first round seems a bit more then I would spend on a trade like this.... We have no idea what Alex is going be yet, we have to give him some time and I’m not willing to mortgage the future because people think our D needs a major overall, after we have had 2 of our top 4 D have been out about the half games we have played so far. People need to take a deep breath when it comes to the Sabres the plan for this year was to compete for a playoff spot before we lost the second most man ice time due to injury, so which place are we currently in last place if you’re a glass half empty type or only 6 points of a playoff spot if you’re an optimist.

I don’t see why people aren’t willing to give Lehner a chance. He has the highest SV% at .920 of any starting goaltender and one of the lowest GAA 2.57 of any starting goal tender. He is making about 2.25mil a year and you want to trade him for MAF who has .904 SV% and 3.23 GAA this year, and is making 5.75mil for the next 3 years really people? Is it the well he’s a winner factor, like them times when Fleury lost the big games in the playoffs? ohh wait that doesn’t feed that point. Or do you mean he wins games in the regular season because he had dynamic scorers in front of him who could overcome his bad goals. Lehner is a much better goalie then Fleury he just needs time and team to start pulling up more then 1 or 2 goals a game. As you can see over the last month or so as the team is starting to score more consistently, Lehner is getting wins as is the team.
