<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DH28Hockey</b></div><div>Right. But that doesn't mean it's in Sanheim and Braun's fault. Sanheim has been our best defenseman posting actually positive analytics, and Braun is absolutely going to get a 2nd at the TDL.
Look up other teams trades for those 2 on here, most of them are either right around what I suggested or are bigger payments if anything</div></div>
What my point is, Edmonton doesn't need both, and I would be shocked if they wanted Sanheim to play in their bottom pairing, while giving up a 1st in the process. Also, every Flyers game I have watched Sanheim has been more of a liability out there, don't be fooled by analytics all the time, they don't always tell the full story... If they want to get the return you think they deserve, then look elsewhere, maybe Florida does something like this to get them over the proverbial hump, they need a 2nd pairing LHD...

A gross overpayment, sorry dawg the Flyers have been god awful the last season and a half, last year could blame it on the goaltending or lack thereof, this season it's on the players, more specifically the defense, they have not been good since the first month, and Cahtah Haht is pulling his weight this year..

Clearly you haven't watched any Flyers games... Those 2 have not been good all season... It would be such a waste of a soon to be NHL prospect in Samorukov and the 1st round pick, let alone a great room guy in Barrie, when Braun's deal expires after this season and Sanheim is being overpaid to play the 3rd pairing with him... If they dealt for Sanheim I wouldn't give up more than a mid range prospect and anything higher than a 3rd rd pick.. He's just way to expensive and wouldn't likely surpass Keith on the depth chart this year or next season..

If that's the case, to the Bruins comment above, I bet Edmonton wouldn't deal the 2 picks for Paul, but rather the 1 for Tierney, or the same pick for Paul...

Which if somebody came to you and said "Hey, the Islanders are offering you $5m over 5 years totaling $25m to win now, but, the Red Wings are offering you $8mx7years totaling $56m"-more than double with 2 more years of financial security and the team could be in the "win-now" phase year 3 of that deal- where would you go to?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ClockReads2113</b></div><div>Jarry was put on waivers September 2019, so at that point played 29 games, certainly not a ton but played some. He never really dominated the AHL, he played 141 AHL games with a .915sv%.
Sammy had a good game against EDM. 2 tip in goals he had no chance of getting. Then the 3rd was bad but he should have never started the game, that's on the coach. That goal was becuase he faced 45 shots less than 24 hours before. When the best player in the world comes at you on the PP and you're tired as hell, you're going to go down early and play the pass. He can be inconsistent but ceiling is way too high to give away for little return.</div></div>
Point I was making about Jarry, which you're taking the career span for the 915%, not what he was doing the last season and a bit before his f/t callup, is that Jarry has been continuously showing signs of improvement year after year, again last year started off slow, being the F/T no 1 in the NHL is a big step, but he figured it our in the 2nd half- playoffs I'm sure he'd like to forget. But, to answer those critics this year being arguably a top 5 goalie shows that the kid continues to grow and elevate his game. Sammy in the same timeframe as mentioned is just wildly inconsistent, and for last nights game, I'd make an argument that he probably could've had the goal by Leon, Kane's yes deflected but he was going down to the butterfly before the puck was deflected and it still beat him 5-hole but I get it deflections not really on the goalie most of the time, but that 3rd goal was god awful....

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LIhockeyfan</b></div><div>Isles fans def still have PTSD from Koskinen in 2011 lol. I was gonna say get the first but its unlikely EDM really wants to do that for a goalie plus if you can get 2 picks, be it the 2 2nds or a 2nd and 3rd, it carries more value when trying to trade/dump other assets. As for Clutterbuck, a third might be stretching it, but its going to be a sellers market for outsiders with so many teams being crazy good this year. Florida could use a vet leader with playoff experience plus his ability to kill penalties adds to his value. Teams will have to pay up to add this deadline I think</div></div>
Only issue is, Florida has too many forwards as it is, and a few that play the role CC plays- Lomberg, even Bennett to name a couple, their after a 2nd paring d man as their main target too.. I totally get where you're coming from for the Picks aspect, I would do the same tbh as the GM, pick up a couple decent picks to make other areas expendable without really losing anything in the process, I can see Edmonton paying that type of price with the conditions on picks IF Varly was to waive his NTC to go to Edmonton, but again the Isles would need to take Koskinen on for cap purposes, plus his deal expires come seasons end anyways, so you wouldn't need to deal with the PTSD for too long, plus he likely helps them get a higher pick as it is... One last thing I forgot to note earlier, Klingberg will NOT sign for anything less than 6 years and likely $8m, which I believe a few people have pointed out already.. He was looking for 7/8 years with Dallas starting at $8m(as a home team discount), before the talks completely broke off and Nill is looking to likely deal him now... I see a team like the Red Wings make a big push to have him in the 2nd pairing D behind Seider, possibly the Preds as they have the cap space and are showing signs of improvements. Otherwise it may be teams like Arizona, or Buffalo that will just throw a bunch of money at him to lure him there for cap purposes and try relieve some of the younger players of the pressures of being a top pairing NHL D man at the ages of 19 or 23(Power/Dahlin)...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ClockReads2113</b></div><div>Goalies are weird and the least predictable position. It takes the longest to develop. Sammy's ceiling is too high to give up now. Jarry was the exact same way, he was so inconsisent that he was put on waiver and this summer fans were begging him to be moved. Now he turned the corner and is one of the better goalies in the league. Would be unwise for Caps to give up on Sammy now. I'm all for moving him IF the price is worth it, a 2nd and a AHLr aren't worth it right now for the Caps, unless they can packages those for something else.</div></div>
Actually, Jarry was put on waivers because he wasn't established in the NHL, don't think he even had a start yet, and the Pens didn't want to lose either Desmith, or Murray, but Jarry borderline dominated the AHL before getting his opportunity in the NHL. Then once he did get the opportunity at 23 no less, played sooo well that he made a 2x Stanley Cup Champion expendable to the organization and was an All Star his rookie year.. From there he had an ok season last year at 24, much better 2nd half, and bad playoffs, how he's bounced back in his age 25 season has been remarkable, and if likely in the Vezina conversation. During that same span, Samsonov was ok in the AHL, but, because of Holts expiring deal, was ushered in to be the goalie of the future without establishing himself as a consistent professional in North America. Since then he's been mediocre, yes, he will have a good game or two(the other night in relief against the Pens, but generally follows it up with awful performances-like last night in the first 5 mins against Edmonton. Mainly he's been wildly inconsistent in North America, plus has had a couple off ice issues, basically showing 0 signs of getting to that "high ceiling" an maintaining the consistency needed to be a true NHL No 1 goalie..

At soon to be 25 years old, and having Vanacek surpassing him on the depth chart, Sammy doesn't look to be the answer in goal for Washington anymore. He's no longer at the age of Prospect and hasn't played well enough to be the bonafide No 1 which they were anticipating with the departure of Holtby.. If GMBM knew what was good for him and thinks he has a window for this and next year to WIN NOW with this group, then it would be in his best interest to move on from Sammy and bring in a better than Vanacek type goalie to be 1A/1B options going forward...

Not gonna laugh or be condescending, that's not what this forum is all about, however, the prices in deals do seem a tad unrealistic. Clutterbuck for a 3rd-he'd likely get dealt for a 5th MAYBE a 4th max, and I love Clutterbuck.. The Oilers would look to do that trade, but Koskinen for cap purposes would need to come to the island, and the 2nd in 22 is still tied to the Keith deal, so there would need to be a condition to help protect the Islanders as well.. The Samsonov deal wouldn't happen this year likely closer to the draft, which would be ideal given they'd be removing $4.5m from Koskinen/$5m from Varly should that Oilers deal happen.. And I really doubt Josh Bailey goes anywhere, and unlikely the Isles get that type of return should he actually be dealt..

What about this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DmitryCoolikov_On_INSTAGRAM</b></div><div>Let's hope tip keeps McDrai seperate. I get the chem but it's better to have multiple good lines instead of stacking the top one with Mcdavid and Drai. I think Kane is the perfect guy to have on Mcdavids line, a gritty, speedy, sniper who won't hesitate to drop the mitts or throw a huge hit. I can see him as a bodyguard for Mcdavid kinda like what Kass was supposed to be except Kanes just elite.</div></div>
I agree with the person who post this, think about it when McDavid is at his best/highest performing ways is when Leon is playing with him, proof is in the numbers. I get the idea of keeping them separate to spread the scoring, but look at teams like Boston or Colorado(with the exception of this year for how well Kadri has played) they all load up their top lines and get some depth scoring from the other lines here and there. I agree with this person's post saying they have a competent 2nd line now, and whose to say Kane-RNH-Hyman wouldn't be better than what Boston has or outside of Kadri what Colorado has on their 2nd lines. You have arguably the 2 best players in the world on the top line and can absolutely dominate, but should they be shut down, that 2nd line is just as good as 75% of the leagues top lines. I'd also like to see McLeod get more mins/opportunities on the 3rd line rather than the 4th you can see the confidence in him growing game to game, so give him the 3rd line with Foegele and Kassian, use Yamamoto as trade bait for a bottom pairing LHD or packaged with Kosk to get a better goalie, bring up Holloway and have him play in the middle 6 F group to replace Kassian if need be.. Regardless this is the deepest F group(minus Yamamoto) since McDavid's arrival, now it's time to shore up the goaltending to give them a legit chance at going deeper into the playoffs..

Which I understand the thinking behind this, but, they don't need a Winger anymore now that they've added Kane, and Holloway will likely come up to the main roster in March to play in the top 6, and the $925k hit would be more beneficial for the them than taking on $4.5m this and next season.. If anything when they do bring up Holloway, they will likely make Yamamoto expendable to bring in a bottom pairing left shot d man, or a package with Koskinen to free up cap space/take on a better goalie than Koskinen/Smith...

Just out of curiosity, because there has been a bit of a trend from Devils fans thinking the Oilers want/need Tatar, which they don't, IF they wanted anyone from the Devils it would be Blackwood(when healthy and obviously a no go from the Devils perspective) and/or Ryan Graves, which again is an unlikely trade candidate for Jersey..

Miller to Car
Sometimes the best addition is by subtraction, knowing you wouldn't get the best return by adding somebody like Poolman or Myers to a deal with Miller, rather than retaining half his salary, may be more beneficial for Vancouver.. Think about it, if they gave up Miller and Myers to a team like Carolina-who has the cap space and receive a solid prospect, a player on an expiring deal and a mid round pick would be a huge win for Van. I understand they have roughly $20m going into this off season, but Boeser needs a new deal(if they don't deal him too, which could ultimately net you a higher pick as well), but freeing up another $6m and only being saddled with OEL's bad deal would be a big win for Van, and give them flexibility to make waves this off season...
