<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juggin_Pav</b></div><div>they still got a window to compete along as they have crosby tbh</div></div>

it's not really the point. They don't need to trade 2nds to compete and they are better off trusting Hextall on that. One of the reasons they had to move those picks in the past is JR was just horrible at grading talent and made bad moves. Hextall is much better, a quick look at his offseason of bringing in Heinen and Brock show that. It's all about trusting the process.
They can find a backup if they need to, I'm not sure they really do. It's not like they are winning a cup if Jarry goes down. Almost all teams are out if they lose their starting goalie. It's part of hockey.
So why bother wasting a 2nd. They are pretty much already set to a playoff spot. The rest of the metro is that bad and the only team that looks like a real challenger is CAR. They went from one of the strongest divisions in hockey to blah. That's benefited them. Teams like CBJ getting caught in a sudden rebuild, NYI and PHL falling off the map. All in their favor. The Atlantic has TB and FL and everyone else is suspect. You go down past BOS and you have basically nothing. BOS doesn't really look like much with 1 center. So if there are 8 teams, PIT pretty much assured at this point to be in the top 8. Then it's just a matter of playing well in the playoffs. Your backup isn't going to help with that. If the starter is out, you're basically out. That's true with any team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mediumyeet</b></div><div>I don't hate the Boeser for Fiala swap but I do think the Canucks would need a bit more. Boeser is a year younger and a right hand shot which is more difficult to come by.</div></div>

The fact that people even entertain a one for one swap of Boeser for Fiala just goes to show how much they don't know

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>Boeser&gt;Fiala so I don’t know why the Canucks would do this…</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>Right totally because having the better season is more important than the fact that Boeser has had the better career, is younger, and probably gonna be cheaper than Fiala. Terrible idea, lateral movement at best. It doesn’t make the team any better 🙄</div></div>

Some Wild fans are just homers

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drmantalban</b></div><div>Yeah I’m not sure what he wants either, but I think 6x6.5 is fair. I have no basis whatsoever for this, but my gut says that Guerin didn’t go into negotiations last summer with any intention of offering him a long term deal. As such, I don’t put much stock into the reported $7M ask. I think things have changed dramatically for Fiala since the arrival of Boldy and while I don’t think he’d take a discount, I think he’s open to a fair deal. Again, purely just my gut take so not something I’d expect anyone else to side with. But that’s my read on things.</div></div>

Fiala is not getting an AAV of 7M or higher, it's absolutely going to be under 7M

Wild have to add a 3rd round pick minimum to make that Vancouver trade work
