Going All in
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>To your first point, most things you just said about Pageau, Bjorkstrand can do better. Give me some good reasons why the Canucks would want a 29 year old 5 million dollar center that does not produce many points.</div></div>
So flip him. If he returns just a third round pick, as you say, then you're getting a 1st, 3rd, and Holmstrom for Miller. You're not going to do any better at the trade deadline. And if all you NHL fans think the isles are old and done, then you may as well take their 1st rounder which will be higher up in the draft... (but hopefully it's top-ten protected)

If you are paying Dobson $6M you are getting 6-8 years, not 3!

Going All in
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>Canucks don’t need a 29 year old 30-40 point center that costs 5 million dollars. No thank you. Bjorkstrand only got a third and a fourth and Pageau is significantly worse. Barely any value in him. Holmstrom doesn’t blow me away either, and the canucks already have a plethora of NHL wingers, and prospect wingers. The first is not enough to get it done</div></div>
Centers have more value, and Pageau has many other qualities outside of his 30-40 points. Guy does everything. Useful on PP and PK. Puts up clutch points in the playoffs. I'm not a fan of getting rid of him but Lou apparently just signed a center in Kadri.

Exactly what do you think you're going to get for Miller at the trade deadline? A first round pick in the 20's...
Flip Pageau if you need to. He's worth at least a 2nd and a 3rd if not more.

I don't think VAN wants a center but would need a fan of theirs to comment.
Make the first top-ten protected.
If both of the above are approved, I'm in.
Also, only give up the first if Miller extends.
But unfortunately, that means next summer you'd likely have to move out Brock Nelson, to make $6M in cap space. However, Raty should be ready by then...

If Lou had to get rid of ladd this summer and not last, with two years left on the contract, i truly wonder what the asking price would be. At least a first. This is why we can’t say that Bailey is getting the Ladd treatment. Prices went up across the board.

Kadri's not even that much of an upgrade over Brock's production to make that move - Brock's scored about 25 goals/82 GP for his entire career while Kadri's only exceeded 20 goals 4 times in his 10 full seasons.
Also not a big fan of moving that many assets for a guy with one good season like Chychurn.</div></div>
I'm not moving JGP for Kadri. I'm moving Bailey for Kadri.
I'm moving JGP to get the space to put in Chychrun.
Chychrun is real deal and not even in his prime yet.

You're getting Bellows. A first round pick in 2016 who still has a lot of upside.

Beau trade would really suck - partially because i want to extend the window and don’t want a rebuild in 3 years. I realize we’re in win-now mode, at least that’s how Lou feels and we have a roster that says as much in terms of age. But Beau has the speed isles desperately need.

Ha. You know i don’t want 6 years either. 4x$7m is totally ideal. And rumor is COL only offered Kadri a 1 year deal. But again, I’m just going with what i think Lou did. Not necessarily what i want.
I wonder what the COL 1 year offer was. Kadri could easily get 80+ points again w them and another cup, and then take the pay day next summer if teams have better cap situation. But perhaps Lou gave him close to what he wanted…

Like I wouldn’t be shocked if he could play higher or lower in the lineup, but I think he’s one of those guys who will probably be best as a checking line wing who can score.</div></div>
Agreed. Bellows could easily figure it out and has shown some really impressive flashes at times. He can score in the NHL, which isn’t so easy. Maybe with a confidence boost from a passionate coach like lambert he gets more production. But unfortunately, i don’t see him really getting the playing time here on the island to break out with the isles. He’ll be of value elsewhere.
Stefen Rosner just coincidentally released an article suggesting a trade of bellows and Bailey as well, but to Ottawa. That makes a lot of sense too. I would just feel really bad shipping Bailey to Arizona…

The way i see it ; if Bailey is moved for even just future considerations, and Kadri is signed for 4 years or less at $7m or less, it’s a noticeable upgrade. I know that’s not necessarily fair to Bailey, but that’s the truth. And fyi i was never on the Bailey sucks train. Not happy with his performance this past season but everyone underperformed. Also I’m fully convinced Lou has given Kadri 6x$7m++

Well arizona fans see it as: theyre not in “win now” mode for many years. So for them to take any player on that’s above the age of 29, from their perspective, is purely cap dump… they want to be compensated as such.
Anaheim makes more sense to me since some people are giving them dark horse potential.
Seeing a few winnipeg proposals tonight for Bailey or Pageau.

So piss him off so he decides not to resign next year. And all for what? Signing a 32 yr old Kadri? Really? Does this sound like great management.</div></div>
FYI - Adrian Dater, COL's main writer, found today's source to be credible enough to write that it's probably a done deal, too...

So what if it's Pageau being shipped out? I have to do the research but I did read somewhere that Pageau/Nelson/Barzal shared very similar minutes on ice last season. So if Brock moves to 3C is it so bad? He may face weaker competition and dominate even more.

The Miller ship has sailed, as today was extremely convincing that Kadri is an Islander. The remaining questions are simply this:
-Who is being shipped out?
-Who is moving to wing?
-Can the Isles squeeze in one more d-man?
If Isles trade Bailey for SG (50% retained) then I really believe they don't have to make any moves at the deadline and can ride this roster to the playoffs.

Let's also recognize what the 27 year old Oliver Bjorkstrand trade returned for CBJ... It's a tough market out there and someone has to be shipped out to fit in Kadri. At least in my trade scenario, Arizona is retaining 50% salary, and the isles get a player I believe they need. I also do believe Kadri over Bailey is a noticeable upgrade. So YES, you kill several birds with one stone by doing the bailey for SG trade - cap space, defensive offenseman. It works.

If you are just trying to predict what Lou does that’s also ok. But let’s be honest here. Lou isn’t gonna cap dump bailey. He doesn’t usually trade picks to move players who can still produce.</div></div>
But that's you assuming that Shayne G doesn't bring something of value back for the isles. If Shayne puts up 50 points again he's going to fetch at least a 2nd at the deadline if not more. This trade is essentially a hockey trade. And if anything it's harder for a player to put up points when they're on such a terrible team (see: Taylor Hall on Buffalo).
