Dallas Stars signed Esa Lindell (6 Years / $5,800,000 AAV)
[<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Icegirl</b></div><div>Lindell is really, really bad in a vacuum. He's got strong chemistry with John Klingberg, but with anybody else on the right side, he's completely useless. His stretch from November-December without Klinger was one of the worst months of hockey I've ever seen from any player. Lindell is the very definition of a passenger. Away from Klinger, he's about as good as Roman Polak. Seriously.</div></div>
This either means that Jim Nill is as stupid as any or you don't have clue what you're saying.

Both years his play improved due to his linemates. </div></div>
See, here's my problem with your argumentation. Those "both years" are his only years on the Finnish top league. Before that he played in Finnish minors. In other words his game improved as of late. To say that his game improved due to line mates doesn't really mean anything because there isn't anything to compare that statistics with.

1 + 1 =</div></div>
He's a late bloomer because he's spent only 2 years in Liiga and step lower before that. He spent a 2016-17 season in Liiga finishing with decent numbers but put up good numbers right away in 2017-18 in TPS. He increased a little bit while playing with Kakko.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>almost 4 mil cap hit lots of people thought he was coming back at 2 million.
I honestly don't even think it's a good signing. He's so slow at this point and the offense suffers from him not being able to jump into the play. So many boston fans talk about all the youth they have in the defense. This just shows that they either don't have that much talent in the youth or they don't trust it.</div></div>
The cap hit is 2 mill, aav is 3,75.

I like it how Vegas has taken advantage of the misfits storyline and become an attractive place for UFAs. As the misfits are regressing the proven vets are already there taking the lead.

Because they were going to trade him but he publicly said that he really doesn't want to play anywhere else than in Minnesota. If he was after the money would he say something like that?

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Auston Matthews (5 Years / $11,640,250 AAV)
I don't know if anyone brought this up but maybe this is the best Dubas could do because of the offer sheet threat. Matthews agreed to make a deal mid season but the money had to be high up. I mean, it could have been even worse for the Leafs.

I'm sure Heiskanen has a price but I don't see Canadiens having any real assets to get him. Only team that I see having a surplus of quality offense and lack of defense is the Leafs.

I don't get it.. how does Rinne's contract have anything to do with Bobrovsky's? This is a 35+ contract.. no way they were going to give him 10 mill per season.

Buffalo Sabres signed Sam Reinhart (2 Years / $3,650,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brian2016</b></div><div>So Kevin Hayes was betting on himself when he signed the one year deal? I don't think so. Until a player becomes a UFA the ball is in management's court; All the player can do is hold out. On the other hand, Marc Stone wanted a one year deal so he could run away from OTT as fast as he can next summer.</div></div>
Josh Morrissey wanted short term because he understood he can get paid significantly more if he waits a few years. At the same time the team wanted him long term but were unwilling to pay for potential production. There's a good chance he can get 50-60 million contract next July. Now the money was probably around 40-45 million (eight years). Of course the player wants long term but he doesn't necessarily agree on the money if he believes he can get a lot more.

The security of a long term contract should not be overlooked. That being said, I still think BUF will regret this deal 2 years from now. Reinhart is in a prime situation to put up 60-70 points this season playing on a line w/ Eichel and Skinner and w/ Dahlin on the back end. Their PP could also be top 10 in the league. Let's ask George McPhee a year from now if he wished he'd locked up Wild Bill for 8 years at $6M AAV; He's gonna end up paying him $8M.</div></div>

I really have no idea which one is better, Max Domi or Reinhart. What's interesting is that Domi has better career stats than Reinhart but somehow he got roughly half a million less per year.
