I have a bit of faith in Brad he had a horrible offseason but luckily no one was signed to a multi year deal other then kampf which has proven to be brutal lol but depending how he handles this deadline I might want him gone too I pray we just sell, absolutely should not be spending a first

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Janasazi</b></div><div>I like this ACGM, I think that's the kind of backend we need.
On Kyper and Bourne, Treliving mentioned he wants to structure the Leafs in a way where they can get in front of the other teams net and keep the other team away from the front of our net.
I think that's something we were missing under Dubas.
Now that Holl is out of the lineup, I think we might be able to make that happen.</div></div>
Leafs will miss Kerfoot’s net front presence.

toronto maple leaks this team is doomed
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Janasazi</b></div><div>If Tulski became the next GM, I'd have absolutely no problem with it In fact, I'd applaud the decision 100%. The work that Tulski did in Carolina is absolutely amazing and look at the runs that they've had over the last few years. If the Leafs went as far as Carolina did in the playoffs, nobody would be complaining about the Core 4.
Dubas' problem wasn't that he was analytics-based, it was that he didn't manage his assets well. He didn't sign Matthews, Marner or Nylander on 8 year deals and now there's the possibility one or more of them could walk because we can't afford the raises they're going to demand. He signed Tavares for 7 years, 11 million and now with his no-move clause we can't trade him. He traded Marchment for Malgin which is a stupid deal. He protected Holl and Kerfoot over McCann which was very stupid. He let Hyman walk for nothing and now we're all regretting that. Lastly, he traded for Matt Murray and now the next GM has to clean up his mess.
I don't understand why this guy gets as much praise as he does, he was a mediocre GM at best. Most GM's, if they had a young core of Matthews, Marner and Nylander would be able to build a team that wins more than 1 round in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
In short, I'd love Tulsky as GM of the Leafs any day of the week.</div></div>
Though I disagree with some of your assessments, I agree with you Dubas was poor GM. Poor trades, poor negotiator, poor UFA signing has left the farm system barren, and has traded away good picks till 2023.

Trade Muzzin for Larsson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Janasazi</b></div><div>So do you think Dubas is stuck keeping Muzzin this year and just move him next year when his NTC becomes a Modified NTC?</div></div>
No, I'm saying that you've got two problems with any Muzzin trade. (This one has a third -- Larsson's NTC -- but that's not important to this discussion.)
(1) Muzzin's NTC.
(2) Muzzin's value to the other team and its cap space.
The general impression is that Muzzin is an Ontario guy and he probably doesn't want to uproot his family unless he's going to go to a contender for the Stanley Cup. Therefore, although this is speculative, the generally-accepted "wisdom" is that Muzzin isn't likely to waive for a bottom-feeder like Anaheim or Arizona or Chicago or Seattle or similar no-hopers. How he would feel about nearby Buffalo or Detroit or Ottawa is unpredictable.
A player can have different value to different teams, and that difference can vary widely. To Toronto, and to a similar contender needing a solid defender (especially one soft at LD), Muzzin is still quite valuable. (My personal opinion is that it would be a serious mistake for Toronto to trade him away because I don't see how you're going to replace him -- in particular, the LD UFAs left are a pretty sorry lot.) But to a team which isn't getting near the playoffs this year and unlikely to make them in 2024, what's the future benefit of having him on the team? Going from 27 wins to 31? So his value to non-contenders is pretty minor compared to his appeal to the contenders.
To me, the most likely scenario is something like the Mrazek transaction, whereby Toronto moves back in the 2023 draft in return for moving Muzzin. But that presupposes Muzzin proves us all wrong and accepts a trade to a team willing to do that and able to afford his cap hit.

Almost positively, Holl and Kerfoot are easier to move. Sign an RD with the space you allocate, give Sandin enough time so that you can trust him eating 18-20 minutes a night. Move Muzzin next season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Janasazi</b></div><div>This post is straight up GOLD, it really needed to be said.</div></div>
On CF, the Leafs highest paid players receive so little criticism when they play poorly. But the so called secondary players get hammered constantly. And the solution always seems to be is to trade for bottom enders from non playoff teams.

I see people using Kerfoot as a <em>"throw-in contract</em>" in Armchair GM trades all the time.
And the most common response is <em>"Toronto has to pay to dump Kerfoot's contract"</em>.
<strong>Then I looked at Kerfoot's statistics:</strong>
- <strong>46</strong> points (on pace for 60 point season)
- <strong>42</strong> even-strength points (39th in NHL)
- <strong>03</strong> short-handed points (16th in NHL)
- <strong>2.86</strong> points per 60 mins (35th in NHL)
- <strong>15:10</strong> time on ice (220th FW in NHL)
- <strong>$3,500,000</strong> cap-hit (expires in 2024)
- Kills penalties (third best PK in NHL)
- Gets close to zero power-play time
- Mostly plays in with bottom-sixers
<strong>And realized that the consensus on this website means nothing. </strong>

Mrazek works well in a tandem. As a clear cut starter no so Campbell has to be re-signed. Leafs aren't a team that can pull goalies out of their asses so that makes it harder

Move Kerfoot if you absolutely need to. You're not losing your starting goalie because you're short 1-2 mill.</div></div>
Even Holl can be moved. Dermott, Sandin, and Liljegren have all looked good (granted we are going to need to sign both Sandin and Liljegren in the offseason), effectively leaving us with a defense of:
Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Dermott
Sandin - Liljgren.
Kerfoot and / or Ritchie can then be moved and have his roster spot filled by Robertson, leaving us with a forward core of:
Bunting - Matthews - Nylander
Robertson / Ho Sang - Tavares - Marner
Robertson / Ho Sang - Kampf - Kase (Resigned)
Seney (Resigned) - Spezza (Resigned) - Simmonds
Not a bad team, and could definitely work.
