figure i'd give it a roll and see what folks think......I'm not sure zaitsev would be a substantial upgrade for the canucks d lines.....

Keeping it Simple
One major downside of a 5 year deal for mitch is that the trifecta all goes up for contract negotiations the same year.

Too much money, too long of a term, and inconsistent scoring.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>blacroix</b></div><div>I don't know about stetcher, i just want him. I don't care what we do with marleau if it's for hossa or eaves, it's just us getting rid of 6.25 cap space.
Florida is trying to get bob + panarin, and it sounds like Luongo might just go on LTIR, and they need cap savings for those two. They could easily just bury sparks without a caphit either.
I think Jankowski is not as bad as people think he is, He is a pk-ing center, very cheap. Who would you rather get instead to replace Kadri?</div></div>
I get the desire for Stetcher, but I don't see Vancouver parting with him anytime soon. Marleau for cap space is a given I think trading with Anaheim is in our interest since there's a good working relationship there.
Florida trade makes sense.
For Kadri, I genuinely think that there is no other contract in the market where we have what would be a 1C on terrible teams with no centre depth to a 2C on most teams with a top line centre.
I understand the sentiment behind trading Kadri because of his poor playoff performance, lowered point totals this season and being dropped down the depth chart. If we trade Kadri, I think the only feasible trade must be at least a Top2/4 RHD with possibly a sweetener on either side depending on who's being offered.

San Jose Sharks signed Erik Karlsson (8 Years / $11,500,000 AAV)
Contract is good in the short term 2-3 years. After that, the contract will be terrible value. Gotta give it to the Sharks who want to win now, but we are going to see some tough times in the cap salary world of the Sharks.

I don't think Stetcher gets moved from Vancouver. Hossa deal isn't all that great unless he is confirmed to be LTIR, then if thats the case, why not deal with Eaves on Ducks?
We keep Naz unless the return is immaculate. Jankowski is in almost every way a downgrade from Naz, except cap space.
In principle I am okay with Johnsson leaving, but the return is too weak.
King Reimer returning would be nice. The deal looks good on the Toronto side of things. Question is whether or not Florida will want to play ball with Sparks. Although they do have Luongo and Montambeault.

Doug Wilson and the Karlsson Dream
LD need bolstering. Perhaps keeping Dillon would make things work. I do think Toronto makes that kind of a trade given their desperate need for a better RHD. Brown is relatively expendable in Toronto's lineup. Paid as a 3rd line forward, but bounces between 3rd and 4th lines. Zaitsev has indicated he wanted out, I see him as leaving, but not sure if SJ is the right spot for him.
Sharks will have to work cap magic to get their group to stay together. I definitely see Thornton signing a league minimum 1 year deal to help the Sharks with cap space. Captain America.....I'm not so sure.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>claytron8000</b></div><div>Uh I'm confused. Wasn't it Benning and Weisbrod cuddled up with the owner and politicked Trevor out of his job? It was also Benning who signed Eriksson, Beagle, and Roussell. It's crazy if Benning has successfully been able to pin his failures on Trevor. He's one of 5 GMs in history that have been allowed to stay on for 5 years without making the playoffs.</div></div>
Something like this. I thought there was a dispute between Trevor's vision for the club (rebuilding) and taking too long versus the Aquilani's failed approach of retool and compete for a Playoff spot only to get knocked out in the first round. Sorry, I have a bone to pick with the Aquilanis.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MichaelFu</b></div><div>Well then you tell me. What’d you expect the return to be for Marner?</div></div>
That's the thing. I don't think there is any possibility of Marner being traded under any condition. I highly doubt that he would sit the season like Nylander did if Dubas didn't get a contract deal done. I strongly believe that Marner will sign for no less than 10 mil over 6 years and doubt he will get anything more than 11.5 million over 6 to 8 years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MichaelFu</b></div><div>Well if Marner can’t agree on a contract, he will be dealt. It’s as simple as that. Plus his father Paul has already stated that he wants Mitch to move to a different team because the Leafs have treated him poorly and not given him the opportunities to become the face of the franchise. Oh, and by the way, I didn’t make a trade with the Canucks. Do you mean Oilers?</div></div>
I meant Pittsburgh, sorry -- I was on mobile.
If Marner is going to be dealt, I would imagine the return is higher than Parayko. I don't think Dubas et al. would want to experience a Hall for Larsson trade.

We don’t need another LHD and if they think we do it’ll be Gardiner resigned.
And Jesus the lines..
Mac n Cheese for a year at best, we have a pipe line of goaltenders that can fill the role in a year.
Did I mention those lines?
Like your 3rd D pairing shouldn’t even be a thought, Sandin isn’t ready, Rosen will see ice before the two of them.. Liljegren maybe but heaven sakes Kapanen on 2nd line LW?</div></div>

I would pay kappy no more than 4 mil on a long term deal and no less than 2.5 on a bridge.
I would pay johnsson no more than 4.5 mil on a long term deal and no less than 3.5 on a bridge.
Nurse has played rhd for Canada. No faith in our prospect goalies.
3rd D pairing I take your point. Rosen and Borgman will see the ice. I see Sandin as coming in later on in the season. Similar to Hughes for Vancouver. Lilijgren will get play time.

Too much to give to Anaheim just for salary cap relief.
Zaitsev will require a sweetener for Stecher.
Ottawa trade looks good.. Not sure if Nashville will play ball on that one to one trade

I dont think there is a world where Marner is traded. Babs himself came out and said that mitch is a lifetime leafer.
Arizona trade and canucks trades look realistic to me!

Marner can take 10mil or sit the season. Kappy getting offer sheeted is fine. We'll take the picks thank you very much.
I do know Darnell Nurse. He is a stud left hand D, would be top 4 on most teams, plays top 2 in Edmonton. Edmonton clearly need to service their right hand D and could use a back up goalie prospect with a 2nd round pick as a sweetner.
