ya make some good points, but you seem to have missed mine. you clearly take this way more seriously than i do (where'd ya hear schnieder to russia?). i only play around on this when it's slow at work and i'm board. i wanted to see a depth chart of what's currently here and i like this site's format, but it won't save unless published.

top LHD vet needed and top 6 winger useful: campbell and mcginn were the first UFAs i came across that fit the bill and are familiar to me personally. for my purposes, these squares really may as well have been left blank as place holders.

i don't expect colaiacovo to get much nhl ice time with any organization next year, but i'm sure roch would love to have him if he doesn't get a better deal elsewhere.
i liked legwand so i tossed him a bone to stick around one more year. sabres can afford it and he's worth having around one more year even if he sits half the season (along with moulson & gionta, i expect) to make room for schnieder/bailey/fasching/etc.

johnson is another place holder. he wants a #1 spot and i wish him all best if he can get it elsewhere; not really worried about finding a suitable backup. ullmark would be fine, but i think he could benefit from one more season in roch where he'll get more ice time (at least for the first half of next season).

this wasn't intended as a prediction of what i think will happen, but rather what i'd personally like to happen. i really don't like all the pressure to make more huge changes this year; patience is a virtue, and some consistency for the kids to develop in a stable environment is worth it in my opinion.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div><i>Why would McGinn sign with Buffalo for less time and less money, also why would you resign Legwand if he's just going to play a few minutes. That Ana trade is terrible for the ducks too.</i></div></div>

McGinn's contract is simply a typo, meant to sign it at $3.5Mill (is that fixable here?). It's only two years, but here's hoping he'll consider it anyway because he did seem to enjoy playing here with ROR and the gang. And who knows; maybe Jack &amp; Sam won't eat up so much cap space in two years and McGinn can still sign a contract here more to his liking.... Where do you think he will sign / how much?

Legwand is worth it for his penalty kill and veteran experience alone... I'd wish him all the best if he were happier else-where, and I wouldn't blame him because I do not see him playing an especially glorious role here. I see him as a mentor to the "kids" at practice, and a regular Health Scratch (along with the other vets) to make room for those kids' gradual transition to the NHL. Plus, it's good to bring back a familiar face and some consistency in a Disco Dan world. If ya can't play on the same line with the same faces night after night, it'd be nice if those linemates were at least selected from the group of faces year after year. Why waste what little chemistry he's built with the team when ya may as well get another year or two out of 'em? I'm not so sure any of the kids are ready to take his place full time just yet.

The Trade (was it really that terrible; as in not even close?):

BUF needs a top LHD to pair with Risto, who can also hold his own on the power play (preferably for the next 3-6 years). I think Fowler fits the bill nicely.
To be perfectly honest, I only threw in Larrson as kind of an impulse buy; another set of brothers in the system could make for a fun story, and what team couldn't use another promising blueline prospect?... so, my real question is: "what is Fowler worth / what does ANA need?".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression ANA needs:
-Cap space to sign more important FAs
-A cheep / young / versatile / 3rd-line-ish forwand; preferably big with some grit who can still put up some reasonable points.
-A cheep yet established d-man to round out the bottom 4 as Lindholm takes Fowler's spot.

-*heh*... looking at this again whilst slightly more sober, I concede this doesn't do much for the cap space so BUF will have to take on more $ (fine... (&amp; Risto's contract might be a little high))
-However, I stand by Girgs' &amp; Franson's ability to fill the other needs... Girgs could maybe be swapped out for Larrson or Foligno in a potential deal
-A draft pick or two could be added by BUF to sweeten the pot if needed... and / or a prospect if ANA's Larrson is in the mix?

...what do you think it would cost BUF to get Fowler? (Any ANA fans here?)... and don't just say it's terrible without making some kind of counter-offer Negotiate, man!!.. Shout something ridiculous (because it is fun!) like: "Fowler will cost you Eichel, ROR, Kane, the Skyway, &amp; the Worldwide Rights to "Buffalo-Style-Chicken-Wings"! They're officially from Anaheim now! and shall be called Duck Wings and... and.., *whoa*; if Honda Center isn't already selling these, somebody in Anaheim needs to fry up some duck wings Buffalo style and report back...
