We don't need Hildeby either.</div></div>
Could swap Hirvonen to the Chicago deal and Topi to the NSH deal

Ignoring the trades that for sure will never happen. Why is Kampf, the leafs best defensive center, being moved to RW?

Who needs a bottom 6 is you just add $10M more to the top 6 :)
Also, I know I had no reason to add the 3rd in the Sandin trade, but w/e lol

I think everyone is missing the point that obviously Toronto should not run with both Karlsson and Rielly in the D top 4....

Vancouver says no. Also Rielly says no. He literally just signed a long term deal to stay with the leafs. He has the final choice over being moved or not.

Unrelated to the trades, why is Kerfoot back at 2LW which we know doesn't work and why is Holmberg being sat in place of ZAR?

An oversimplified definition (it is a little more nuanced) is a player is not UFA eligible until they are either 27 or have played 7 professional (AHL/NHL) years. Whichever comes first.</div></div>
Thanks for that explanation, I had no idea it worked that way.

For everyone commenting on Bouchard. I'll admit I haven't followed him at all and just threw in an RD from Edmonton to be depth in place of Holl. I see now looking at his stats from this year that he would not work in this package. (Although at a -14, he can't be that amazing of a defenseman).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>Again to ensure you see this, they are not able per the CBA to put trade protection on next year</div></div>
Okay, I see this now, I'm guessing since Rielly signed his before his last year they were able to add it? Or is CapFriendly lying by the "CLAUSE DETAILS: No Move clause negotiated for the 2021-22 season as part of his 8 year extension signed on October 29, 2021." note on his 2021-22 NMC clause? Or was it possible for him because of his years in the league already?

I get NJD has no real reason to trade him. I just think if hes the case of "not for sale, <strong>period</strong>" his M-NTC wouldn't be held off until 2024-25. It would of been starting with his new contract in 2023-24 or even added to the last year of his current deal (Like Rielly had done with his new contract)

Siegenthaler is contracted until 2029, he is not a UFA lol. He goes up to 3.4 next year, which is why Holl would need to be moved to make up that extra $2m

I'm all for Toronto trying to get Lafreniere, but you don't trade Nylander. He's the Leafs most consistent scorer right now and Laf has been healthy scratched by the Rangers...
I get that you included the 1st, but the leafs need to get better now not later.

JT takes the faceoff then switched with Holmberg. The idea is to get the Centre responsibilities off of JT so he can focus on what he does best (tipping in front of the net and screening the goalie). Holmberg has the hockey IQ and speed to do the rest.

it's just for fun with the idea of Holmberg moving up to try and up the production of the 2nd line. Kerfoot to C is just because it's between him or Jarnkrok. I don't know enough about Jarnkrok's past play before Toronto to know how he is at C.

Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Yotes269</b></div><div>What an absolutely awful offer for chychrun, plus half retained</div></div>
To be honest, I forgot Chychrun has another year left that the retention would be for, I thought it would only be for the ending of this season.
Also if you think Lisowsky, Robertson, Sandin, and Woll are awful, then I have no idea what you are expecting Arizona to get.
An 18 year old with over a PPG in the WHL.
Robertson who is only 21 and would be a boost to Arizona.
Sandin would fit into their LD lineup and is a few years younger than Chychrun which fits with the Arizona timeline more.
Woll is by far better than what Arizona has in its prospect pool. Him backing up Veji next year would be a solid goalie duo.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Gotta think Timmins is kinda the odd man out. But I hope they don't sit him endlessly until there is an injury. Like to have so the top 7 having some rotation in and out of the lineup....not for punishment but to keep players fresh and not stale by sitting.</div></div>
I wouldn't mind if it was a rotation. Would make sense to give Gio a few games off (keep Brodie at LD when that happens) Although Gio has said he doesn't like sitting and plays better when he's consistent. Maybe give Holl or Lilly a few games rest here and there to rotate Timmins in regularly.

What Happens When Sandin Returns
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>It's not a completely crazy idea in my mind.</div></div>
And the best of it, if Riley is their 2LW, they can keep PP1 as 5 forwards with him being in the LD spot lol
I also think benching Hunt at this point isn't a good idea. Having 7 D is just going to result in Timmins playing 8 minutes a game which at that point, don't bother making him dress for the game.
I don't think Hunt is the final answer for the Leafs 4th line. But I do like that he can bring something to that line.
Against Arizona in his first game with the Leafs, Hunt had 6 hits (more than double any other Leaf) 1 SOG (More than Kampf, Holmberg, Engvall, and ZAR as forwards) and 1 Takeaway (Tied for most with Tavares, Bunting, and Kampf) He also had 1 fight (Sure, he didn't do much, but he made a hit and fought his own fight)
All of this was in 8 minutes of ice time. 4 minutes less than the next lowest forward (Holmberg)
Against Colorado Hunt had:
1 SOG (More than Holmberg, Jarnkrok, and Tavares as forwards), 2 hits, and 1 block in only 9:26 of ice time. (2 minutes less than the next lowest forward Holmberg)
I think they need to keep giving him some minutes and slowly bring them up like they have been with Holmberg.

Moving Lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Younginthe6</b></div><div> ZAR is and always has been a purely defensive player with poor offensive production so I can't help feeling that he wouldn't be the best fit with Kerf and Holmberg if that's supposed to be a scoring support line.</div></div>
That's why I don't like ZAR with Holmberg. Holmberg can create offensive chances but when he's on a line with ZAR and Hunt, they don't really finish anything.
I pairing like:
Kerfoot - Holmberg - Hunt
ZAR - Kampf - Engvall
Could also work. I just think after some time together, Hunt would be great with Kampf.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Younginthe6</b></div><div>Engvall and Kampf go hand in hand and won't be separated. The two of them have great numbers together but are utterly useless (mainly Engvall) when not paired together. I can't see them being split up.</div></div>
I just feel like ZAR andHunt are the players Toronto got for the specific thing Kampf excels at so it makes no sense not to have all 3 on a line. I get the Kampf and Engvall connection though, but I think Engvall would get that with Holmberg also.
I could also see going:
Kerfoot - Holmberg - ZAR
Hunt - Kampf - Engvall
I just don't think ZAR with Holmberg makes much sense since you would want that line providing bottom 6 offense.
Line 3 = Bottom 6 Offense.
Line 4 = Bottom 6 Defense.
