Getting Out the Forest
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>Think you're at least $1M short on Middleton. I also think we'll try to get more term on an extension or him.
Schmaltz had a good year but I have a hard time believing Dean would play him at center. He's not good in his own zone and Dean really likes defensively responsible centers. He's sort of intriguing to me but we'd be buying high on him for sure. It seems like the plan is to build through the draft and we'd likely have to give up a futures package like this for him... Think I'd rather just keep the picks and Greenway.</div></div>
I was thinking I could put some more onto Middleton, was thinking with the RFA status they might be able to bring him down a touch. And I agree on Schmaltz, I just think the one thing yall are missing is some offensive firepower down the middle. Let JEE be your true #1, but have Schmaltz be your offensive pop.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KDev</b></div><div>What makes you think the Devils have any interest in Khudobin when they could’ve had him for free on waivers last season? This is a team who was using Jon Gillies as a starter. Khudobin has some of the most negative value in the league</div></div>
NJD was trying to tank last season, it's time for them to get out the basement now. Bernier's health is still in question, which is why I'm thinking they should offload the contract to an LTIR team for a guy who can contribute, whether it's as a starter or backup. Can understand dropping the pick down but my original principles stand still.

Definitely a better scheme fit, I just know Dallas has some cap problems coming up soon -- fingers crossed it would work.

Good construct, I'd like to try and see if DAL would take Ritchie instead of Holl, I know that contract is pretty tough for a bottom 6 FWD, but I think giving up a top 6 prospect along with a 1st and 3rd could be somewhat convincing for a rental. Think I do it either way, Holl or Ritchie though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NoVaSpartan</b></div><div>I absolutely love the idea of offersheeting a LD, but maybe just one? These are both very reasonable contracts so maybe not, but if I’m in Stevie’s shoes, I might want to conserve a bit of cap for Bert, Larkin, Seider, and Raymond when they eventually need new deals in a year or two.
Edit: add Ned to the list of new contracts as well.</div></div>
Yeah I definitely went heavy on LDs, I'm viewing Sandin as expendable, watch him every TOR game and just feel like he's poised to break out, could garner some nice return in the trade market once Edvinsson gets to a top 4 level -- feel like there's bound to be a disgruntled star center somewhere down the line and DET has the ammo to make a quality push at that. And I wouldn't worry to much about cap space, but could definitely see an argument for playing things a bit more conservative to lock down those extensions.

PLD would be fun! But I like holding on to 1sts especially when your roster is where DET is at currently. PLD would cost at minimum a 1/2/3, plus his dad is in the organization still, think both sides would be enticed to keep it together. OTT matches at almost any number, and CHI isn't gonna give up on a #3 pick unless it comes with a massive haul in return

Free Eichel
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wagsnags</b></div><div>I really appreciate you taking the time to put together and publish this trade for us to comment on.
GM Adams would decline this offer. He can not afford to take on 2 additional cap dumps when he already has 2 of his own on his roster. As a new GM he can not have his hands tied with 4 cap dumps to deal with on his roster.
IMO GM Adams would see Zucs and Rask as a negative return in this deal devaluing the Rossi and 1st Round pick. If you really need to move 10 million in salary to make the Eichel deal than as previous comments mentioned Greenway needs to be in the deal. I will go a bit further not only would Greenway have to be in the deal but also another prospect or pick. Maybe GM Adams can go to Terry and Kim and convince them to bury one of the dumps in Rochester.</div></div>
Think you're undervaluing the Zucc/Rask contracts -- I understand the money alone seems like a cap dump but I don't see it as such. Adams and Buffalo know they're going to be bad again next year. Rask's contract is up at the end of next season, that's 4 mil off the books to try build through free agency. Zucc is still a great player, and granted year 1 in BUF won't be much, but when he's in the last year of his deal in year 2, that's one hell of a deadline trade piece for a playoff team. Think of what Columbus got from Toronto for Foligno -- Zucc isn't far off from that return, hell he might even net the same.
I get the hesitancy for BUF, and I get the Greenway suggestions, but a year and a half of some extra money on the books with a center core of Cozens and Rossi is a lot more attractive than having Eichel waste away there.

May be wrong but I'm like 98% sure they can go 7-3-1 and keep Pelech, Pulock, and Leddy, only exposing one of Beauvillier or Bellows up front, but I hear you.

I think I'd agree here, but I am curious to see how much leverage CBJ will have in negotiations with the league knowing Jones want to test. Think if they had leverage they could maybe add a Patrick or something else, would love the fit in Philly though.

Leafs Shore Up Tendy and Get Tougher
My thought is Kuemper has another year on a super team friendly deal, no harm done by bringing him in for a Freddy who most likely won't be in Toronto's plans in the future. Sandin is too much to give up, AZ gets draft capital and a prospect to reload for a new window with young core.
