The Ducks are an awful team but the future looks bright. The Leafs were awful too before Matthews & Marner, etc.But Lyubshkin is not the answer to the Leafs needs, whether he plays in Anaheim or not.</div></div>
Well considering reports came out that Toronto isn’t planning on moving their 1st round pick, I hope you’re ready to receive a lot of “no’s” from other GM’s. Lyubushkin is a cheap rental. Toronto isn’t going to be able to land someone like Tanev with lowball offers that Toronto has been reported to be sending out.

Kaapo kakko
To be honest I would be all for this trade. 2 guys who could use a change of scenery. Robertson has talent, just won’t get the right opportunity in Toronto. Kakko needs out of NY bad.
I just don’t know the value at this point. Hard to judge.

Also Panarin, Kubalik, Suter are 25 year left wingers but they didn’t really do any AHL time so there’s that...

If leafs lose in the first round
If the Leafs lose 1st round this doesn't address what they need.
Jones is a more offensive d-man and they already have those in Rielly, Holl, and Sandin, not to mention some good prospects in Niemela and Hollowell coming up. So he doesn't address a need really. & with Jones only having 1 year on his deal left, Nylander has more team control and would get a better package than that. Plus having to re-sign Rielly and Jones at the same time would just be hell.
Mrazek also doesn't solve the goaltending issues. He's so hot and cold, worse of a freaky goalie than Andersen, that the media would eat him alive and he wouldn't live up to expectations. I'd imagine they'll either give the net to Campbell next year or go with a massive upgrade at goalie.
I think that's the next area to be addressed and only area really. Dubas added the grit, the experience, the defence, the offensive depth, next has to be the goaltending. I'd love to see an off-season move around a Nylander package for Gibson in Anaheim. I think it'd really solve a lot of problems for Toronto and put them over the top

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheLastOfUs</b></div><div>CBJ doesn't do that at all, that would leave a huge hole in their D with no one to replace him....also hes their work horse as good as willie is i think it would cost more.</div></div>
The problem is, Jones has only one year left on his contract after this one. Leafs should not do it unless Jones comes with an extension, but then ya, no way Columbus touches it then unless Jones isn't willing to stay there (which is possible so maybe such a deal could work, theoretically, but it's just not the way the nhl works).

Trade an MVP candidate and top 3 player in the league and that helps your team?

If you watch the leafs, Nylander does this all the time, he just shows off his ballerina figure skating and goes to the bench whenever he wants. He is lazy and he doesnt try

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>Oh can you turn down a late 2nd and a winger that’s coming off an injury AND a down year. Oh wait you’ll also retain 2million $. You know DeMelo was cheap so the entire market cheap. Andy Greene Got a 2nd round pick.
More examples of the 2020 market.
Goodrow Got a 1st
Coleman got a 1st and a high end prospect
Pageau Got a 1st 2nd and conditional 3rd
Namestnikov Got a 4th
Gustafsson Got a 3rd (less than Andy Greene)
Values were all over the place. Hate when people try to use worse case scenario to value a player they really want.</div></div>
All the guys you listed with the high values were forwards...
Leafs could take Savard for the right price but if he costs more than a 2nd and Johnson or Kerfoot there are a lot of options in free agency.
Savard isn't the only RHD in the whole world that can help the Leafs blue line.

You listed a bunch of guys who had multiple years left on their contract and all of whom are better than Savard...
Are you really comparing 2 years Muzzin with 1 year of Savard? Muzzin is better than Savard in every single aspect of the game and is on a cheaper contract and had more term.
Do you really think 1 year of Savard is as valuable as 7 years of Trouba?
I do keep up with trade but nothing points to Savard being worth a 1st and a prospect except some confused Columbus fans.
I think DeMelo and Vatanen are better comparables.

How does DeMelo return a 3rd and Savard returns a 1st and a prospect? What?
Savard is so pumped up on this site. He's just a 2nd pairing D man with above average defense and below average offense.
When was the last time a D man got traded for a 1st and a prospect?

Liljegren and Engvall alone is an overpay for Severson. Liljegren is projected to be better than Severson anyways. I dont think the Leafs would trade him away like that
