<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DDossett</b></div><div>I'll take that deal for buffalo all day. You do know he's got 2 more years on that deal right? Kinda of pricy for a 6th dman. Cliftons a great player but only if he's cheap. Unfortunately he's just not going to give you much more than a lot of guys out there getting between 1-2mil. Better to get more out of your top guys and have that extra 1-2mil left over to pay the right 2nd pair guy or middle 6 winger.</div></div>
I love the way Clifton plays. I'll take him for that money, especially if he's replacing Lindgren's $3M cap hit after this season. Personally don't mind paying a little extra for a reliable D-man. I'm sure you can find a guy for less who plays the same style, Clifton is just the first that came to mind for me.

Yeah because they're clueless. Need some guys with a little fire in their belly injected into the lineup. NYR has been missing players willing to mix it up for a long time. This core is embarassingly soft and a culture change is needed. Give me Duhaime, Middleton, Hartman, Foligno type players any day of the week.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joblow</b></div><div>This Minnesota trade is brutal for the Rangers. Miller is already a stud and is the most valuable pieces in this trade by far.</div></div>
You must not watch many NYR games. Miller is probably the biggest liability on the back end for the Rangers and has been for a while. Not to mention his lazy effort around the NYR net almost nightly. Can't win a championship with players like that. Need to send him packing and acquire someone who can actually play defense and protect the crease.
The Minnesota trade makes the Rangers significantly better right now. Resign Duhaime.

NYR add snarl
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Coachchippy</b></div><div>It would be great to have a player like Bennett, Rodrigues, Gadjovich, Cousins, or Montour. But we have no money. Because we are wasting 10% of the cap on a guy who hasn't scored a goal since the calendar year 2023. We are wasting 3.6m on a guy who's on pace to score 2 total goals and 7 total assists by the end of the season. We're missing our #2 C who's creative with the puck, fastest on the team (I say this because Kreider doesn't use his speed as much as he should) and is the only player who can create a clean zone entry. If we wanted a player like those Florida guys we should've drafted and developed as such.
If you trade for Kelly/Sherwood/Edmundson you're just burning draft capital (and Zac Jones, inexplicably). And that would be fine if the Rangers were actually in a position to win a Stanley Cup. But they're not even close to winning a Stanley Cup with Igor being worse than a backup and actually losing us games with a .759 SV% or whatever the stat is in January 2024. And Kelly/Sherwood/Edmundson aren't going to save us, so it will be all for nothing.
The New York Rangers, as they currently stand, are horribly constructed. The rebuild was shoddy at best. Asset management sucks. I've never been a Chris Drury hater but I'm starting to realize what a terrible job he's done. He would be better off to move on from Zibenajad and Igor and get hauls for them (maybe some 1st round picks but more importantly, high end prospects and players age 18-24). It probably will hurt for a year or two but this team as currently constructed is winning NOTHING.</div></div>
I don't disagree that Zibanejad is a pathetic excuse for a 1C. His effort level is most concerning to me, he treats every game like its a puck shoot at the local rink.
Having said that, in no world is Chytil the second-best center on the team. Trocheck is leagues better than him in all aspects of the game. Chytil is as inconsistent as it gets and it's looking more and more likely that we'll never seen him play for the Rangers again. Chytil is no savior. The only thing he would save us from is having to watch Brodzinski play for this team any longer.
Who cares about trading Jones? He is one of the worst defensemen I have ever seen play for this team and he has no place in the lineup. Use him as an asset and trade him to a team willing to give him a shot on their third pairing.
Adding sandpaper guys who will chip in on the score sheet is what turns this around for the Rangers. They haven't played hard in weeks and it's become a concerning trend with this core that they give poor effort quite often. Blaming Igor when the team is giving 50% in front of him is embarrassing and a bad look for you.

I would take Clifton on my team in a second. Love the way he plays. Trouba is not waiving his NMC to go to Buffalo, though. Would gladly work out a deal to send Kakko upstate.

NYR add snarl
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Coachchippy</b></div><div>LOL. I forgot about Cuylle. So that's Cuylle, Goodrow, Trouba, Lindgren, Schneider, hell even Lafreniere and Trocheck who all play with bite and snarl. And if we are talking about hungry bottom six players outside of just hitting/fighting you have Vesey too who's fantastic.
So that's 8/18 (nearly half) of our skaters who are gritty guys. Have YOU watched the Rangers lately? Because they're not losing due to a lack of "bite or snarl". They're losing because scoring has completely dried up outside of one line. 5v5 production is non existent. We're paying soft guys like Zibanejad 10% of the cap to stand in one spot on the PP and miss the net 90% of the time. That's the problem with the Rangers (that, and getting away from PL's systems, particularly on defense).
So no. We don't need 18 Ryan Reaves on the ice and are going to expect to win a cup that way. We have enough bite, snarl, and grit. We need guys with a winning mindset who can ACTUALLY put up points.</div></div>
You clearly do not understand my angle here. I am not talking about players like Ryan Reaves at all. "Bite" and "snarl" doesn't strictly mean fighting. The Florida Panthers are a team that built their roster on bite and snarl. They have guys who hit, forecheck, win puck battles, and create energy up and down the lineup. Players like Bennett, Rodrigues, Gadjovich, and Cousins are middle 6 players who create chaos every shift and THAT is what opens up the offense. Even Montour, who is an offensive defenseman, is trying to fight Malkin at the end of overtime last night. You can have the most skilled players in the league but if you play like NYR it's dump in, lose the battle, and the other team breaks out of the zone going the other way. You cannot generate offense in this way. Florida's style of play not only opens up the offense but it gets the crowd into the game and i'm sure creates belief and gets everyone fired up in the locker room. NYR got booed off the ice last night, so something has to change.

Because NYR has the most clueless fanbase in the league. Have you ever found yourself on Rangers' Twitter? It is a cesspool of morons who don't know anything about hockey or NYR. Nobody watches teams outside of the Rangers so they don't know that other players exist besides former Rangers. I watched fans beg for Tyler Motte back thinking he would someone save the team. It is embarrassing. NYR could do much better than Buchnevich, especially when he was notorious for taking nights off in NY. That is what the team needs to fix, we don't need more of that.

NO thank you to bringing Buchnevich back. One of the most overrated players by NYR fans in a long time. People want him back because they don't watch other games around the NHL so they don't even know about other players who didn't play for NYR. They get an update on former Rangers from John Giannone on the MSG150 and immediately want to bring them back to NY. No, no, no!

He traded away Buchnevich for Blais, he's certainly not sending away Cuylle and a 1st to bring him back. That package is laughable anyway for someone as overrated as Buchnevich. Not only was he overrated in NY but he mentally couldn't handle playing in that market. One of the more mentally unstable players I have seen dawn an NYR sweater. No thanks on that reunion.

What the Rangers need is speed and creativity. Like a #1 RW version of Filip Chytil.</div></div>
I'm not sure if you haven't watched the Rangers this season or if you've never watched playoff hockey (or both). The Rangers absolutely need to add bite and snarl. This is one of the softest teams in the NHL. Cuylle is the only player consistently threatening opponents with a big hit. Goodrow is the only other forward who offers any sort of physicality. They need players who can not only hit but also win battles below the dots, block shots, fight, cycle the puck, etc. The current bottom 6 is composed of AHL players and aging veterans who cant keep up with todays NHL. Need hungry young legs.

Miller would net the Rangers a pretty good haul if Drury decided to part with him.
If Drury is smart, he keeps Chytil out until the playoffs Tampa style and uses the LTIR monies to get a RW and scoring depth aka Duclair.
Wheeler should sit too.</div></div>
Chytil coming back has completely ruined any chances of improving this team. First round exit at best this season.

Somehow all three things you said were wrong.
I am not sure what kind of value you think Miller has but it is not a lot. He is BAD and has been for a while now. This is no secret and other teams watch film, believe it or not. Acquiring a better defender in Middleton and some much-needed bite for the bottom 6 with Duhaime would be a win.
NYR would be foolish not to take that deal with Colorado as Chytil is one hit away from forced retirement. Colton is a very solid middle 6 center who also adds physicality for the playoffs. If anything, Colorado says no.
Wheeler should have never been signed in the first place and the only way he remains in the lineup is if Drury fails so badly at the deadline that he's forced to keep him in the lineup to replace AHL Brodzinski or Bonino.

I am stunned to find another NYR fan looking to add Duhaime... and I am fired up about it. Exactly the type of player Drury should be targeting. Get some nastiness and physicality in this soft lineup. Sprong would be a solid add as well. Great shot.

I absolutely love this. Konecny is exactly the type of player Drury should be targeting. Personally, I would make some changes to those lines but I love that trade. NYR would need to acquire a LD in this case because Zac Jones should be far, far away from the starting lineup come playoffs.
I'd go:
20-93-Konecny
10-16-13
50-72-24
26-21-17

Would love to acquire a player like Sundqvist for the bottom 6 in NY. Desperately need some physicality and grit. Sadly, I think Drury holds onto Kakko here as people still have hope he pans out (why? I couldn't tell you). NYR needs to unload him before his trade value tanks even further. His defensive metrics are the only appealing part of his game to date.

Who could you see them moving in a deal like that? I haven't gotten to watch as many Avs games as I would have liked to so far this year.
Just saw your earlier edit. NYR is definitely in the market to shake things up on the back end. That Wood-Colton-Oconnor line is a line i wish NYR could replicate. Bottom 6 is all AHL level talent or aging has-beens besides Cuylle.

Colorado in the market for a 2C after Johansen didn't pan out like they thought. Healthy Chytil would for sure be the 2nd best C on that team. Chytil is signed through 26-27 on a similar deal as Colton and he is 3 years younger. Chytil is on his way back to NY, likely to return to the lineup in the coming weeks. Risky but I could see Colorado rolling the dice here, especially when they seem to be all in on another run at the cup.
