No thanks. To decent players on terrible contracts. Suck it up for a year or two and contend with Romanov, kk, Suzuki, caufield ams pick 8

OK, I agree giving up the 7th over all for Domi is not a good move.
I submit to group think.
What I find curious is not one Sabre fan gave me any feed back on trading Reinhart for Montreal's 8th over all.</div></div>
Well if you read the comments from some Sabres fans they seem content to just carry on as is with the hope that this draft pick or someone else will come along and save the day for them.

I am firmly convinced that the value of the seventh overall pick in this draft is Tomas Hertl plus the Tampa Bay first or Max Domi and the Montreal second. The value of term cannot be overstated.
Look at where some star centermen were taken recently. Horvat at 9. Larkin at 15. Barzal somewhere in between (I recall 13 but I'm not interrupting this to go look.)
If the draft order stays the same (I.e., no one jumps ahead of you), you rate to get to choose between at least two and probably three of Rossi, Perfetti, Lundell and RW Holtz. Which would you rather have: one of those players under team control for 6 years, or two years of Tomas Hertl plus the appreciable chance that he'll walk after that and you'll have nothing?
There's no chance that happens with Domi because you can sign him long-term now -- IF he co-operates. But he's still a risk.
Many times, the best asset management isn't making the most beneficial move, but avoiding the really damaging bad move.</div></div>
Given our situation, I would prefer Max Domi with a slight plus. Although I like many of the players in this draft, we can’t wait any longer for the team to be in the playoffs for so many years, and the team captain is openly hinting that it’s time to strengthen and get into the playoff right now or I just leave in 1-2 seasons.
I like Hertl, but after an injury and he has only two years left under the contract, Domi can be locked for 5-6 years and you will always have a solid player for top 6.

You dont trade away the 7th overall pick for a player with his limited, very limited, success. Its like trading the 7th overall for Marcus Johansson. Just because we havent drafted well, doesnt mean would should make dumb trades.</div></div>
ill take a young 50 point 2nd line center over a prospect who may never score 50 points in his career.
also, whos to say he cant have another great season?
he had 72 points 1 season ago its not like hes 31 years old hes 25 dude

Domi has 116 points in his last 153 games thats pretty solid and he is still just hitting the prime of his career at 25 years old.
Cole Perfetti or whoever the hell we pick outside the top 5 might never even be good and even if he ends up as a regular in the NHL, it will be at least 2-3 years until hes an impact player at the NHL level. Max Domi already is that and you dont have to wait 2-3 years which is pretty important because if we're not good by then our best player will have already requested a trade out if town...

Don't why Palat or Gourde have any desire to leave Tampa. They have NTCs for a reason, not to fall on the sword to fulfill the needs of a fantasy roster.
Gourde isn't worth his 5.16m contract .....Tampa would be adding the sweeteners if Gourde waived.

Lainino
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Guess what they'd need after they move Laine.
Another Laine. Another lethal sniper as a starter, with potential to develop even better. The biggest minus regarding him has been his inability to play defense, and he's made a drastic upgrade regarding that this year. His play looks more mature.
Add before you say "Caufield's gonna be one", he isn't that yet, he's not as good and he'll never as good. There's virtually nothing in this package that would get even close when it comes to what Laine brings on ice. Except quantity, which I already pointed out in the first comment.</div></div>
Caufield stats have shown he is the best sniper since Ovechkin. He have had better scoring stats then a certain Auston Matthews in American development program. There are possibilities that he turn out better then Laine. Winnipeg do not have any prospect who are close to Caufield level. He is view as a top candidate in each and single prospect list made by expert. And the biggest need in Winnipeg have been a second line center and that have been the case forbthe past 3 season. They have waste 2 first round pick for that and still have miss that center a lot this year.

They are sending what Winnipeg need, a 2C young RHD top prospect who might be even better than Laine a 1st and Lehkonen it’s real good value I’ll never do that if I’m MTL

Depending on who is still available ( but most likely one of Perfetti, Rossi, Holtz, Raymond) will be available and i don’t think that Boeser have a higher ceiling then anyone of these players. So i don’t see Montreal trading there first round pick alone for Boeser.

Montreal Canadiens fans- What do you think
Don't get me wrong, Boeser is a stud but lets not get too ahead of ourselves either. He hasn't put up elite numbers and has shown to be mightly injury prone so far. I would love him but I think if any one of the projected prospects are available at 8th, that player has the potential to be better than Boeser will be. Now throw on top Poehling and Ylonen? Personally that's simply too much. even for a good player like Boeser.

Yeah Barron would be a great addition on the right side. He was projected to be a top 10 before the season started but injuries and playing for one of the worst team in junior haven’t help. I am still very high on him. If he is still available in late first round (25-31) the Habs must absolutely try to acquire him.

The thing is Yzerman knows Detroit aren't in any position to give up their 1st round draft pick. But if Brisebois had a choice between Montreal and Detroit, he would probably trade Sergy to the Wings because of a higher chance at winning the next draft lottery. (or the 2021's)
