Not sure what's really in this for the Habs. Like I guess they're getting out of the Anderson contract but I don't think the contract is as bad as Campbell's and MTL isn't getting anything gamebreaking as a sweetener

I would opt for Norlinder in the NHL and Barron in the AHL.
Based on training camp merit rather than pedigree.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsRealGM</b></div><div>I don't how the Jets would decline this if they know he doesn't want to play there and will go somewhere else. He's an RFA so it's almost the equivalent of an offer sheet. Jets get two Centers (that's not a need?) one of the them a 5th overall pick, plus an established two way third line center possible 2nd under a good contract and grade A defensive prospect ready for the NHL.
You'd rather have the 12th overall pick this year - likely a lower tier center than Turcotte and Mesar plus what?. Jets consider this for sure at the draft if it's offered to them.</div></div>
Lol they don't 😆
Turcotte is not what he was when he was drafted and still in the ahl not a lot of value rather have something else that has more upside. Dvorak would be a 2c how has that worked for him so far huh? He is a 3c that is overpaid and would be below Lowry so he is not of interest unless he's more of an add on if the deal didn't have a roster player. Strubble does nothing for us as he's unsigned and may not even sign with us. Mind you he isn't a player that fits any needs.
Recap 5th overall pick that has done nothing up to this point and the chance he becomes a top 6 player is fading.
Dvorak who is basically a nothing asset for us at a large cap hit (rather play lucius or lambert at 2c before Dvorak lol)
Strubble who is unsigned and fits no needs
You question why we would decline and it's simply not enough and not a need in any sense of it

He makes 5m and isn’t good. Nobody is giving up assets for him in a flat cap. Canes can fit him in but he doesn’t solve anything for us so they’ll use that cap space on an impact player versus a wasted roster spot.

They are on pace to finish with more man games lost to injury than last years record breaking season with so many guys on LTIR for the remainder of the season.
Even with their solid start, I was saying this is a bottom 5 team.
Arizona/Chicago/Vancouver/San Jose/Anaheim will all be playing each other more often in conference while Mtl only plays 3 more games vs the bottom 5. The bottom feeders will accidentally fall into more points.

-Edmonton declines. Do Habs fans even look at Jake Allen's numbers? He's got an .892 SV% and a 3.52 GAA; Campbell, meanwhile, the man who's struggling enough to get dumped four months into a 5-year deal, is at .883 and 3.43. Do you think that's enough of an "upgrade" to justify the rest of the package that the Oilers are giving up here? I can see a fit for Edmundson, maybe, but swapping Armia and JP is basically making Pool Party 5 years older and giving him two more years of term, so it actively makes the Oilers worse now *and* in the future. Oilers pass on this package but keep you on the phone to figure out how to make Edmundson work.
-To combine the next two - Dadonov and Drouin are both offense-first forwards that aren't offering all that much offense this year. The only way I see the Canadians getting value for them is retaining the full 50%, sending out a pick to a third team to get the extra retention, and getting an asset back from the contender for the double-retained Dadonov or Drouin. Otherwise, they're playing out the string with you - I can't see a world where Dallas or Winnipeg gives you any sort of positive asset for taking back those contracts at full cost.
-Minnesota is an awful spot for Hoffman - they've currently got $9.3M in cap space next year with only 8 F, 5 D, and 1 G under contract. Adding Hoffman makes that $4.8M in cap space to sign at least 3 forwards, a defenseman, and a backup goalie just to be able to ice a normal team - it's just terrible cap management to add Hoffman, especially when his main draw is his goalscoring ability and he's only got 7 of those in 30 GP this year (a 19 goals/82 GP pace.)
-Wideman for a 4th is a "sure, whatever" move. Probably a little higher than he's worth but I'm not gonna split hairs on 4th vs 5th round values.
-This trade is absolutely abysmal for Buffalo. Not only are they giving up their #1 goalie prospect in Levi, you expect them to throw in a 2nd rounder this year to get back David Savard??? They already have Rasmus Dahlin, Henri Jokiharju, and Ilya Lyubushkin signed through next year for their RHD depth chart - so why are they giving up multiple premium assets for a 32 year old Savard? Easy no from the Sabres.
-See the Wideman trade, sure whatever to this.
-No from Colorado. Monahan hasn't played in 6 weeks, there's no way they're going to give up a solid 22 year old with tons of team control left for a rental - and unless Monahan is taking an extremely-team friendly deal, that's all he's going to be. Colorado has only $12.4M left in cap space for next season and needs to re-sign or replace a ton of players - even if you assume that Monahan settles for a decent pay cut down to a $4M AAV, that means they'll have $8.4M in space with only 7 forwards signed, with Bowen Byram needing a new deal, and with something needing to be figured out for your third pair on D. Again, bad asset management for a team that should be looking for more budget-friendly players (like, I dunno, maybe Alex Newhook?)

Holloway is not getting traded. Edmonton is near the cap and they need as much of our prospects on entry level deals to start flourishing to take us to the next level. Not trade them away for contracts we can’t afford. Nice try.

Roster Lines and Pairings
Agree with Gally on 1st line. It was only 1 game but they had good line chemistry last night. More stable line and better along the boards than with Caufield
Problem i see is your 3rd line would be too weak along the boards so would be easy to defend against. Also armia on your 4th line will not be able to use his offensive talent.
Although not ideal, maybe it's time to try Drouin as 3rd centerman.
Toffoli -Suzuki - Gally
Caufield - Dvorak - Anderson
Hoffman - Drouin - Armia
Lehk - Evans - Byron/Perrault
