Would this work as a Price destination
I think Price still holds a lot of clout with NHL GM's that I believe there would be teams willing to trade for him. It'll all come down to what MTL is willing to accept as a return for him. (Aside from Price's NMC which will dictate where he wants to go but assuming he is willing)

I think we could get one more draft pic ( 2nd 2121)in this deal for Price. The problem with Price right now is Montreal..way to much media pressure, You watch when he gets traded( And he will) there will be so much lifted off his shoulders that he will win a cup. If I am Carolina I go get Price. Make Mlt hold 2.5 Mil back .

Applying a Band-Aid to an Amputated Leg
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brigid1011</b></div><div>What’s the point in these threads. What is actually contributed by posting this? It just gives people more negative views of the fan base.</div></div>
I suppose I'll answer your question with different questions:
1) <strong>What's the point of making any Armchair GM team at all?</strong> (Do you think Kyle Dubas will take notice and get it done for you?)
2) <strong>What's actually contributed by better Armchair GM teams?</strong> (Do you think two fan bases have ever 100% agreed on a proposal?)
3) <strong>What's the point in worrying about what others think of you?</strong> (Do you think people's negative feelings are actually due to dumb fans?)
4) <strong>What's the issue with making a team that's clearly impossible?</strong> (Do you worry someone will take it serious and start ripping their hair out?)
I can make the following statements with 100% certainty:
1) <strong>People dislike the Leafs because the media shoves them down everyone's throat, especially in Canada</strong> (imagine being stuck with TSN / SN as a Sens fan).
2) <strong>The excess attention creates a cognitive dissonance in everyone exposed to it</strong> (assuming they aren't Leafs fans and would prefer coverage of their own team).
3) <strong>This dissonance applies to the vast majority of non-Leaf fans you encounter online</strong> (if they patrol hockey sites / forums, they likely watch hockey related media).
4) <strong>It makes them inherently dislike / disagree with any Leaf fan discussions or positive fan content</strong> (some are conscious of their internal bias, but many are not).
5) <strong>The problem is amplified because there's more Leaf fans posting online than other fan bases</strong> (they can't attack the media, but they sure can attack online users).
6)<strong> End result = an army with the one mindset: all Leaf fans are dumb, Leaf players are over-hyped, Leaf content should be trolled</strong> (you can't change their mind).
So get used to it ... Leaf fans are equally as stupid as the rest ... but even their most reasonable opinions and proposals will be attacked by a majority of the community.
And that will never change by the slightest margin .. no matter how much you work to change peoples "views of the fan base".
<strong>But to answer your question ... "What’s the point in this thread?" ... I did it for fun my dude ... What are you here for? </strong>

No way im doing Hot start ,plenty potential ,23 Y/O Drouin for overpayed 2nd line center/We already have a logjam at center, 26 almost 27 RNH
We dont need hall, in the next two years we have Domi,Gally,KK,Poheling,Mete to pay ?
Ghost Trade is Ok, I dont want to give Mete though, I think he has good Potential</div></div>
Meh Agree to Disagree. Im also someone who would move Price in a heartbeat. 11m for a goalie is just way to much. Imagine if price was only making about 7 mil how much options that would open up.
IMO these trades make MTL a LOT better.

What Vegas could do - players to keep
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsFan33</b></div><div>I don't disagree. I think it will depend on the return they could get. Smith could be really enticing for a lot of teams. Eakin would be a great 3C on most top end teams. One of those teams that has some prospects or picks galore, could overpay to get Eakin in their line up. I think Smith gets you at least a 2nd rounder plus a B+/A- prospect and minor leaguer.</div></div>
The important thing is that there is no one guy that has to go like with the Leafs Marleua/Zaitsev on bad contracts. They will listen for the best offer/return on anyone not named Stone
Vegas really isn't in that bad of a spot, there are 3 or 4 others teams with bigger cap issues

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsFan33</b></div><div>Possibly. However, since Patches as 15 teams no trade clause, it will be interesting to see if any of those can a) fit him under their cap and b) actually want him. Vegas may to trade Patches but I think they may be stuck with him. And Vegas can't retain any salary on the deal, which will make it even tougher for them to rid of.</div></div>
He's really the guy they need to move though, age, position and contract size makes him the most logical one to move. Obviously some other guys will be moved but of all the bigger contracts on the Knights he's the one they should move.

Back in the playoffs
i don't think these trades really help MTL at all. I mean...first of all you're trading Poehling after 1 NHL game (which he scored THREE GOALS AND A SHOOTOUT GOAL), and our 1st rounder and a 3rd. MB already said hes not giving away future pieces. Sure Byram would be nice but not for that price.
The 2nd trade is equally as bad. Juulsen has shown great potential to be top-4 guy once Petry/Weber is gone. The eye injury is a non-factor because they already said its no longer an issue and hes 100%. Romanov has shown he can play in the NHL already and MB has publicly said that. Best D-man in the WJC. Also, two 2nd round picks? Let me remind you of some prospects and players that have been taken in the 2nd round...Brooks, Romanov, Ylonen, Lehkonen...
Now for the Connolly contract. 5mil for 5 years. Career high 46 points. People think the Nelson contract is bad, imagine MB actually did this? its just terrible.

People are forgetting
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jay27</b></div><div>No one unless the right deal comes along. Nothing wrong with Poehling and Suzuki playing a year in the AHL. Need to make room for them next offseason? Then that's an issue for MB next offseason.</div></div>
That's the exact approach they'll take. Poehling (as good as he was in his debut with a hat trick) just came out of the NCAA. Some time in the AHL to adjust to the pro game isn't a bad thing. Suzuki has looked good in the OHL but could stand to make some improvements defensively and add some weight. AHL time allows him to break in slow, there's no need to rush either guy when Montreal already has guys under contract to fill the role they would. If Poehling or Suzuki can't play consistent top 9 minutes in Montreal, have them play top 6 minutes in Laval to develop more. Sitting on the 4th line does nothing for them and that's why Nate Thompson was re-signed for next year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fecteau89</b></div><div>Not sure this makes Leafs D any better</div></div>
How does it not? PK is still REALLY good. He may not be top 10 in the league anymore, but he definitely is a top pairing defenseman.

STOP TRADING DROUIN
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>beavereater</b></div><div>Finally someone understand ! I didnt see Laine get trade when he sucked 2 months ago!</div></div>
Hahah thats funny.......... You clearly weren't here two months ago.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>Drouin needs to play with high end talent and finishers. Montreal currently lacks this.</div></div>
Nope, has nothing to do with that DD honestly.
He needs kill the big boogie man living in his head that tells him <em>"Don't worry....you don't need to give 110%, someone else will do it for you"</em> and <em>"I got a great idea! Your team is doing a line change so i think this is a great time to try and dangle through 5 players, the coach won't mind, believe me."</em>.
Once he kills that SOB, he'll be back to the old Drouin who hustled as much as he has skill.

2018/19 potential roster
The negative: Both Kovalchuk and De Haan will want more than 1 yr contracts. Stastny will want more than 2 yrs.
The positive: You have very good strength down the middle. Finally somebody places Danault where he should be and that is 3rd line C. You did not bite on the emotional temptation to bring back Plecky and decided to go with De La Rose that is 14 yrs younger, 4 inches taller and 15 pounds heavier. You are one of the few that sees Petry as what he is. A very inconsistent D-man with brutal d-zone coverage. You also resisted the temptation to trade Patch, a proven 30 goal scorer with 5 good yrs left in him. So, pretty good moves.
