Team of overpaid players
Skinner is not as bad as it once looked. He has performed better in recent seasons (certainly worth his deal last year)…and the $9m hit has been diluted by time a bit.
Nick Foligno deal is mostly veteran, leadership bump from team that needs to get to cap floor.
Gaudreau is starting to look like a candidate for this list. Backstrom perhaps. Orlov at $7.75m (but only one year). Josh Norris could also end up here. Killorn. Krug. Kadri.

What is Marners Value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>lowblocksniper</b></div><div>Lindholm got the Flames a 1st, 4th or 3rd, top 6 winger, high ranked prospect and low ranked prospect to a competing team.
Marner should get a little more, maybe 2 1st rounders instead of 1 or a very high end prospect, the problem is most teams with very high end prospects and or multiple 1st rounders aren't competitive and it wouldn't make sense for them to trade for Marner unless and extention was in place before the trade.
Most teams that are looking to trade for Marner also don't have the cap space.</div></div>
A little more? A decent 2C rental has far less value than a 27 year old top 5 RW.

Vladar is good option, if he is healthy and the Flames have faith in Wolfe or want to tank next season by trading both Markstrom and Vladar and use career jouneyman backup goalies to insure they get a Top 3 pick next summer in the Draft.

Provorov is exactly who they should pluck I agree. That and a pesce, roy, demelo in FA. If they run it back I like this. Backlund won't get dealt IMO though, maybe a Scott Laughton

One year of Tkachuk got one year of Huberdeau and one year of Weager and a first.
The same reason you want trade to Marner....get rid of cap and sign Jarvis long term.....is the reason Canes don't do that trade. Jarvis should get more in a long term deal.
Why give up so much for an 31 year Parayko. Just sign a UFA short term,.
Kampf and Reeves aren't on LTIR.,

The Hawks shouldn't be looking at trading Reichel, and if they intend on drafting Demidov, any consideration to acquire Marner is unnecessary with a better potential of Kane coming back.

Järnkrok

Do yourself a favor, instead of getting all bent out of shape about it, be honest with yourself and maybe one day you'll make a decent trade on here.</div></div>
Lol just angry eh? Liljegren is a 25 year old who played 20 minutes a night down the stretch for a playoff team. He's an RFA as well but he's a cap dump. Why? The crest on his jersey. Jarnkrok? Swiss army knife can play anywhere and find success at 2.1 million and scores 30-40 points a year. Cap dump.
I do admit Kampf at his cap hit is excessive but he's a valuable player. Extremely good defensively, a good penalty killers and works hard every shift. He's likely lower value wise in a trade but he isn't without value, I absolutely bet multiple teams would want him for cheap. He's a very good 4c

The perfect offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HShockey</b></div><div>Jarnkrok isn't a cap dump, Kampf you could argue. The Leafs could definetly get a 2nd/3rd for a versatile, 10-15 goal scorer at 2.1. Kampf doesn't have much value, but the Pens need a 4C and Dubas loves his old players</div></div>
Jarnkrok isn't a cap dump, Kampf is but he's not an expensive one to move. He just doesn't bring enough to a team to warrant the cap hit (unlike Jarnkrok), and the only spot he might be useful in at this point is 4C. Jarnkrok probably fetches a 3rd or 4th from a contender (a la Roslovic last TDL), and Kampf probably costs a 6th or 7th to dump.
And FWIW, Provorov half-retained is probably worth a late 1st/early 2nd. He's a well-rounded, reliable 2nd-pair D-man who's just not a great fit in Columbus and not part of the future plans. If that's the basis for the deal, I'd prefer Provorov and a 4th (maybe a 3rd if the market is light) for the TOR 1st, which <em>should </em>be very late.

although i dont necessarily want to keep him, if we have to retain and all we are getting is upgrading a 2nd to a 1st, id probably just say we keep him and see if we can get more at the TDL.

Taking next step
I'd be stoked about landing Levshunov, Reinhart, and Rossi. But the changes I'd make:
1) Chinakhov + Jenner > Rossi + Gustavsson, so the picks are a nonstarter, and may need to flip sides to make the currently-unavailable Jenner available.
2) If you're adding Gustavsson, an Elvis buyout or trade would be necessary. He's not necessarily better than Gus or Tarasov, but he's definitely not playing 3rd-fiddle.
3) You should absolutely re-sign Texier, just throw him on the 4th line instead of TFW.
Overall, I'm not a fan of the leadership vacuum, but this team is definitely better than last year's IMO.

Sportsnets Marner trades
1 and 2 are great value, 3 is making the best of the situation but giving up pieces that you don't need to for Markstrom, and 4 and 5 are fireable offences.
I don't think SEA would be interested, better chance that CBJ does that depending on the new GM's view on KJ and if he's not too excited about whoever is available at #4. The CBJ package is more valuable but the SEA one would probably be better suited for the Leafs in the short-term at the least. Although, they could probably just go out and flip the 4th OV for Andersson, that being said I think Wright would allow them to secure their future 2C, KJ is probably going to be a winger.

I like the Gus trade. I think the Wild will look to add a better player than Jarnkrok in free agency with that extra cap room though, instead of giving up assets for another aging player who isn't top six material.

I don't quite see this being a fit for SJ, but it could be interesting. They could grab an elite D at 6, and pick up top 6 or middle 6 potential forwards with the other picks

Hronek for Reilly blockbuster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_92</b></div><div>Not a chance.
Rielly has shown absolutely no signs of falling off and with the cap only increasing that contract looks better and better every season.
Hronek is definitely not better. He’s carried by Hughes. When Hronek was in Detroit, he was atrocious defensively - now that he plays with a guy that has the puck more then anyone in hockey his defensive stats look better because he doesn’t have to defend as much. That doesn’t mean that he’s all of a sudden good defensively.
Rielly makes players he plays with better. Look at all the partners he’s played with.. Hainsey, Brodie, Lyubushkin, Schenn… none of those guys were top 4 guys but Rielly made them a fit because he elevates his play to make his teammates better. Hell he got Luke Schenn a near $3M contract when the entire league didn’t wanna give him much more than league minimum. That’s something you don’t see in stats.
Rielly >> Hronek.
https://twitter.com/JFreshHockey/status/1746204971077341237</div></div>
Hronek’s actually been worse defensively this season, but throughout his career he’s been better than Rielly who’s always been atrocious in his own zone
RHD are more valuable than LHD
Hronek is 4 years younger and will likely sign for a similar amount to why Rielly is making right now, give or take 500k either side (7-8M range)
Hronek has more total points and only 6 less primary points than Rielly at 5v5. If he was the PP QB like Rielly is he’d have even more points than he currently has
Given that Hronek is younger, plays the more valuable side, is better defensively, and is similar offensively, he’s worth more than Rielly

Was thinking about adding Brink instead of 2nd/3rd. Don't know if it that would do it.
But tbf, I'm also quite sure people are underestimating Zamula, he's been big reason why Flyers are still in playoff race, even after Walker trade or injuries with Drysdale, Ristolainen and Seeler. Been stepping up big time.

interesting moves.
If Bert takes less money Im in for sure
same for Sammy
Edmundson would be taking a significant cut at 9 but he is getting older so maybe thats plausible.
I like Roy at that price
Timmy as per his play thus far isnt worth 3 imo, but im hoping he finds his game soon.
he did play up to that standard while 44 was out so maybe.
if bert has a monster playoffs hes not accepting that imo
