I'd add him in at Centre with Kastelic and Kelly on the 4th line. Even throw him on the wing on the 3rd line if he can produce that same play-making ability in the show.

40 point NHLer now... and all these prospects are magic beans.
What's funnier is that they'll move him to Buffalo because their playoff track record is even better than Ottawa's right?

He's playing with better players in TO... I don't think he'd want anything to do with Canada anymore. With the way the media already tears him apart, I think he'd love a fresh start in Utah or otherwise. Just not in a Canadian city. Watch him become a force in the playoffs next year on another team like FLA or something.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>I don’t see it either but everyone on the original post said the sharks would decline, which i disagree with. If Ottawa wants cap flexibility it works well moving out over $50 mil</div></div>
The way I see it, I would absolutely go after Blackwood for like... a 4th round pick and middling prospect like Kevin Riedler. That is <strong>if</strong> Korpisalo is bought out. Under current management, that won't happen as Staios has already said they are running it back with Korpi and Forsy (which is a... interesting decision).
The thing I don't get is that SJS just moved on from Hertl and now you'd want to go after an even bigger contract and question mark in Norris? It doesn't make sense for SJS to do something like this when the goal is certainly scorched earth right now. If they could, they'd absolutely move on from Vlasic and Couture... problem is no one wants those contracts.
From Ottawa's perspective, it only makes sense to move on from Norris if they get immediate help on the blue line in the form of a shutdown RHD that can pair with either Chabot or Sanderson (more for Chabot now considering Sanderson and Zub were our best and top 10 in the league in terms of offensive and defensive metrics are concerned). The other thing to keep in mind is that Norris has the "potential" to be a 30 goal scorer again, which is huge for Ottawa. One worst case scenario, he's done for his career and is put on LTIRetired forever. Even worse case scenario is that he's playing and only averages 30pts a year as a guy making just under 8 million for the next forever.

Blackhawks Offseason
Athanasiou seems a tad expensive for a guy with health issues and a big contract next year. Ottawa needs the draft capital this year anyways to replenish the cupboards and addressing a need they can fill in free agency seems asinine.
Ottawa will pass on that deal. Sorry.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rob32sjsharks</b></div><div>I understand that and agree. but this is a much better set up team. Sometimes you take a step back to move forward and this might be what Ottawa has to do to strengthen the team overall.
I do feel Korpisalo rebounds next year if you guys can get a new coach and set up a better defensive scheme.</div></div>
Logging in to tell you that that is simply not the case. Korpi and Forsy have been so bad that they have legitimately cost the Sens a shot at the playoffs. Had they had a league average of .900%, Ottawa would be where Detroit and Washington are... and that is after the defensive implementations JM and CO. have instituted. 21 out of the 76 games Ottawa has played, they have let in the first or second shot on goal... that is awful.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt early when DJ Smith was still apart of the team. But, after the entire team (OFF and DEF) increased their advanced defensive stats, the goalies took the biggest step back in terms of play that made me lose my mind...

I can't imagine this team going into next season with this goal-tending duo. One of the two needs to be gone and my money is on Korpi (buyout). Regardless on if you think the d zone coverage was atrocious, the goal-tending has been so bad that it literally cost them a playoff spot.

Something needs to happen... Have to trade one of Chychrun or Chabot.. That being said, if you trade one of them, I think you keep Bran for insurance. He won't make more than 3... and you can get him on a longish term deal. Good on third pair...
Goal-tending needs to be addressed. Korpi is gone. Bought-out.
You hope Norris returns healthy and on the wing next year. You Stu-Pinto-Grieg down the middle now and I think he can thrive beside Stu or Grieg.
Overall, they've been playing with zero structure in front of their goalies...
"Facing the Sens feels like a completely different experience than facing most teams. It's felt like they don't play with any structure. It's fully run and gun. It's a chaotic strategy that'll either work if they have a number of things go their way, or will completely explode on them and they'll look like a peewee team. It's truly just not sustainable and makes it impossible for a goalie to come in and have a fair shot."
You look at a guy like Cam Talbot:
A .914 career goalie
Since 19-20: here's how his seasons have looked. I want you to guess which year he played behind the Sens D corps:
.919
.915
.911
.898
.917

This sways so hard in Boston's favour, should just call you the Swayman.
Did you forget to put Boston's 1st round pick instead of Ottawa's? Because no, this does not work for Ottawa. This is hilariously bad. No #1 overall pick is worth a rental goalie for a cap dump and a top 4 D... Ottawa will just buy Korpisalo out rather than suffer a loss of a trade this lopsided.

Even if you move one of those defenders their cap relief is going back to replace them in someway. Also think it will be difficult to move Chabot at that AAV.</div></div>
Agreed. But I doubt Ottawa'd give up a young centre when they can easily re-sign him to a long or short term extension.
When it comes to Norris: an other right shoulder injury and he's currently seeking alternatives to surgery. That being said, it's still going to be a long process and recovery. More than likely, we won't see him until mid to late next season. It may be LTIRetired...
