Andersen had admittedly a shaky season playing behind a bad shaky D that gives up a ton of chances. He would be insanely good playing behind a d core like Carolina's

I'm not saying 1 for 1 it's fair, it how the hell does Toronto add multiple 1sts in any kinda deal when they're both going into their final year on their contract and Andersen plays a more premium position than Hamilton? People are quick to say Andersen has no value because he has 1 year left, but apparently Hamilton is Bobby Orr. Lmao.
Troll elsewhere.</div></div>
Thank you for actually understanding the fact their contractual situation. CAR has a ton of depth at defence and even add a decent third pair RHD in this deal. Not saying its perfect but how the hell do people look at this and think I just traded Andersen for Makar or something...

This site is hilarious man. BOTH Hamilton and Andersen are on expiring contracts. One his a top RHD the other is a top starting goalie... It literally fits both teams needs to the core

Fair enough. But MLSE has massive financial strength and Hossa is just one year. I think Dubas needs to consider it if the opportunity came about.

just compare numbers with Dermott. He's a top 4 guy too imo. Honestly would be ok with just Nylander for Pesce 1 for 1.

On top of that, no team will trade 2 top 4 defenders in one deal for with an add on of Dermott. We don’t overvalue players, we know how to manage our assets and cap appropriately. Add on how burnt out we our with Car-Toronto trades after a week of saying it doesn’t work for us. Yet, he they still come in waves.</div></div>
Dermott is on equal levels with Fleury despite your assertion he is a "top" defender...
Secondly, Canes have Hamilton, Slavin, Skjei, Gardiner, Vatanen, Edmundson, TVR, and Bean ready to step up. In no world do they need Pesce more than Nylander. Nylander adds a massive offensive element for the team and the argument that Nylander can't get you Pesce is ridiculous.

I get the argument but I personally think more has to be made of the fact TOR is indeed taking on more risk here. Merzilikins is technically a back up in CBJ and has under 40 games of NHL experience. Tor is banking on potential here and CBJ knows exactly what they're getting in Andersen

They say Leaf fans overrate players and then you get comments like this.... CAR is LOADED on defence... a surplus actually. Adding Nylander to play along Aho, Teravainen, and Svechnikov gives them a massive boost up front... People on this site treat Pesce's value like he's Lidstrom. Nylander for him makes too much sense for both teams and what they need.

Andersen is going to want a payday next summer, Elvis still has the extra year of $4M. Possibly but I think that goaltending dynamic is attractive for CBJ. Yes, Elvis has more term by only a year but I think he's locked in behind Korpisalo. Andersen can come in and not only supply a nice balance but will most likely become a starter for them over Korpisalo throughout the season next year. Also think he has to be realistic and he probably won't get offered anything over $6M

I can see the appeal for Jarry but he has such limited experience... he hasn't even started half a season let alone a full one... I think it's fair to assume some regression and the Pens use him as trade bait too with Andersen as starter and DeSmith as back up they can add really good pieces by dangling Jarry especially because they are always in a win-now phase

1. Literally what Claesson4Norris said
2. That's a common price you will see for a top 4 RHD... Liljegren and Kerfoot are the main pieces, Bracco will not crack the Leafs lineup with all the depth and Holl for a 3rd,

Simply to help OTT... The two teams have a good relationship and MLSE is a powerhouse financially and can easily absorb his cap for a year... his career is done. In return TOR fills out their picks by adding a 3rd back and OTT helps us by taking Johnsson's cap hit

Fair point - I think its a little bit different because Coleman was a rental for a stanley cup contending team and a deadline deal... But I feel like Kerfoot and Kempe are fairly close in value... Kerfoot is only a couple years older and at Kempe's age outperformed him in COL its just more of a cap thing for TOR... plus I think Bracco and SDA combine to have a better value (in my opinion) than a late first from a team like TBL.

Dermott is easily a top 3-4 and over that span 4.25 is the going rate... number one d-men are getting 8-9 + ... Dermott at 1/2 the price for 7 years is a very fair price... Idk how that is delusional... he is easily the #3 man on this team and hopefully #4 if we can get a RHD to pair with Rielly...

When you get that much term on a player for a contract at just over $4M it is much better for the cap than doing a 2-3 year bridge and then having to pay the player even more money... Dermott is the real deal and getting him now on a long term 7-8 year deal at 4.25M is a steal based off the longetivity of the deal
