Not crazy about trading for Robertson until we see how he is post-injury, but if this is the best offer on the table I think the Sharks would take it.

Not sure if this is true. Maybe he just wants other teams to pay more.
With Covid, there are teams that actually struggle financially, the Leafs not so much. Toronto is the one team that does not care to pay someone 6 million a year to be injured for 2 years.

Dumping Salary and adding top 4 RHD
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Silverbug</b></div><div>Im sure he would have no problem signing a 3-4yr 6m contract after next year. Mean time hopefully one of Wall or Scott develops into an NHL goalie. If he doesnt sign for some reason we can look at a trade or UFA next summer.</div></div>
If he bounces back from his bad season this year, he's going to want 5-6 years. If his poor play continues you can't even consider signing him.
Getting a Guy like Murray fits way better with the age of the team.

That is why they want to trade a goalie.
Jarry is ready to be a starter and obviously murray is as well</div></div>
Nah, we need consistency, neither Jarry or Murray can really be trusted as a number 1 rn, if we trade Murray (or Jarry) and get Freddy (or another proven G, maybe Markstrom) and Jarry (or Murray) ends up sucking it's no where near as bad as if we didn't get a different goalie and fully trusted whoever we keep, and if we make the right choice an whoever we keep is good, well we had a great safety plan, and now they can go off to Seattle

Dumping Salary and adding top 4 RHD
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Silverbug</b></div><div>" TOR gets a solid goalie and a couple of depth pieces and dump Johnsson's contract"
1. Toronto already has a solid goalie.
2. Huge over pay for Manson. (Another ACGM with RHD envy!)</div></div>
Freddy Andersen has one season left, and will be 32 when his next contract starts. He's going to look for term on his next contract, and he's not getting re-signed by Toronto. They need a replacement.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GFD1996</b></div><div>Fair point - I think its a little bit different because Coleman was a rental for a stanley cup contending team and a deadline deal... But I feel like Kerfoot and Kempe are fairly close in value... Kerfoot is only a couple years older and at Kempe's age outperformed him in COL its just more of a cap thing for TOR... plus I think Bracco and SDA combine to have a better value (in my opinion) than a late first from a team like TBL.</div></div>
I get that. and actually kempes value according to fantasysp is way less than i thought it was. Surprising since I thought he would be valued higher as that production with that contract would be a steal

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GFD1996</b></div><div>Tavares I would argue needs Marner and Hyman more than Matthews - Matthews can play with anyone imo and Sandin and Liljegren I think need more time in the minors despite their high ceilings... Sandin is not even 20 yet I think he can benefit from more development</div></div>
Sandin for the most part, looked like a regular and has already burned his first year in his ELC. And the Hyman-Matthews-Nylander line was dominant. Now as much as I’d love to see both the Nylanders, I think Alex our with Tavares and Marner is a better option for him. He’s not quite a first liner, and playing with Tavares and Marner could be good for him.

BUF Trades and Barrie Sold
This isn't actually the worst trade...it adds something I feel that Toronto is missing and that is a big body in front of the net that can get the puck out of the zone, I think Risto and BOGO are both this...would help Toronto...might be a lot to give up... although Ceci kinda has negative value

Or you could just put Kap and Johnsson on the wings with Aho in the middle and look at that you have now acquired two top 6 forwards for 1 RHD and floundering expensive 4th liner in Nino

Pittsburgh and Washington also respectfully decline. Wilson has one more point than Nylander, so far this season, has 60 more hits (63 to 3), and kills penalties, all at a lower cap hit, and has good chemistry with Kuznetsov. Woll has some future potential, but not enough to demand retention on Bjugstad, just yet.
Good team, though. I think you could add to the Pit and Ana deals and make something happen. Not sure the other two are possible this year.

I like this team better than the team I just made. Except the Clifford contract, Dubie can dig up something cheaper and just as good for the 4th line. Spend that money on a better back-up.

Marner and his ego traded
That's honestly a very credible trade.
The Canes now have an elite forward core, while the Leafs now have an elite D core without downgrading the offense too much (Teravainen is a 20-25 goals player after all).
I would assume however that Ceci is only a cap dump and that the Leafs had to add something to the trade (Bracco)

People keep saying this as if it's true. Tavares took less than market value. Nylander started at Draisaitl money. They overpaid Matthews for the term but there would have been a legit offer sheet concern that Toronto would have had to match given his star status, thus either saving money or at the very least a huge headache. Marner doesn't have that leverage.
If 11x7 was on the table back in June it would have made Marner the highest paid winger and tied for third highest AAV in the entire league. An unprecedented offer for a 22 yo winger.

Dubas cant let Marner and his Dad hold him hostage
That's a pretty fair trade, just don't think Florida is going to take on Marner for giving up their best defender. With Coach Q running the show, he's all about defense first and arguable, Florida needs another top 4 guy versus giving up one.

If Muzzin will say yes to that contract and you managed to keep Barrie, i would skip Mantha and make Kapanen a victim instead of Nylander. Hes one level better then Kapanen tho expensiver....
