looking towards the offseason
Try a 87.7m cap. You've underpaid a lot of players, and still no 7th NHL Dman
Kampf has M NTC. For sure, poor teams with cap would not be on his trade list.

deadline edition - who says no
ANA and ARZ will want a pick to take on those deadweight contracts. Patrick Maroon is huge and physical but is horrible at hockey. Scott Laughton is also not good, I'm getting Ben Chiarot vibes with him - if PHI can pull off advertising Laughton as a high-draft-pick-worthy player the same way MTL advertised Chiarot; kudos to them. Sean Walker is good but not Nick Robertson and a 1st good.

I think the Murray trade would be fair if you added another 3rd and dropped the 5th coming back. Sharks could be interested if they ship out Kahkonen.

2023-24 roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ekaansh</b></div><div>why not?</div></div>
Hawks have enough veteran leadership on their blue line w/ Jones, Murphy and Tinordi. They need to start giving prospects like Vlasic, Phillips and Roos NHL ice time. Adding Brodie just blocks a spot for one of those guys. Plus giving up a 3rd for one year of Brodie doesn't seem like good asset management. That's a move a team w/ playoff aspirations makes.

Like the Marner trade. Scheifele helps us down the middle and thats where you need it the most. Good return for the Leafs. Maybe Peg could add a sweetener.

Re read what I said…
CBJ can afford his buyout. 700k this year and 2 million the next for moving down 7 spots. It’s not like Marleau who’s whole contract was signing bonus

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boltsradynasty</b></div><div>So Columbus takes Murray's contract off the books for Toronto to move up 7 picks ??? REALLY?!!</div></div>
It was 13 picks for Mrazek who was worse and his contract was backloaded and 2yrs.
Also Ottawa still is retaining 25% of his contract and if CBJ wants they can buy him out and only have 700k penalty this year and 2 million the next

wrapping up the deadline
Hey homer Leaf-fans, look at some reality here. Schenn is head and shoulders above Holl (hits, blocked shots, even-strength points, etc). Get your stick on the ice and learn how the game is won...get tougher, get meaner, and learn to play in the post-season, maybe you'll finally win a playoff series....finally.
That all said, this deal likely gets approved by the Canucks, however if I were Dubas, I wouldn't trade Holl for Bjugstad. Defense depth is more important in the playoffs than forward depth.

Leafs trade deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ekaansh</b></div><div>How much more? A 1st, a 5th, and a hometown native who can play in the 2nd or 3rd line and on the PK for a team in the midst of a rebuild should be good enough no?</div></div>
The fact that Kerfoot is a pending ufa isn't that great for the Canucks. And to ask for retention aswell for 3 years, I mean you should probably add a prospect here atleast.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SociallyHawkward</b></div><div>I'd say hawks decline but I'm pretty sure muzzin would beat them to it.</div></div>
It's basically swapping Lafferty for a 1st, I'd do that in a heartbeat. Eating 1 more year of Muzzin's contract would be irrelevant, they have so much cap space.
Of course you're right that Muzzin would probably reject this. But assuming CHI isn't planning to contend for at least 2-4 more seasons this would be good return.

-Islanders don't need Holl, he'd be their 7th D behind Pulock-Dobson-Mayfield on the right side. There are teams out there who could use him as a cheap upgrade at RD and would probably take him on for Future Considerations; or you could look at this team, realize that you're giving minutes every night to Victor Mete at RD3, and find a way to keep Holl in-house.
-What's the draw for Seattle here? You're giving them a pair of pending UFAs & a 3rd for their pending UFA in Soucy - a guy who could probably pull back a Josh Manson-esque haul at the deadline (talking 2nd rounder & a prospect). Benn is more or less a 7th D on every team in the league, and Kerfoot walks on July 1st. Seattle does better with any other team looking to acquire Soucy with a serious offer.
-Probably would cost a 1st to dump Muzzin but his NTC is in your way and I can't see him waiving to go to Chicago (unless he thinks their decent start isn't a mirage.) This deal feels right value-wise, I guess.
-Feels like a low sell on Sandin, but I could see Arizona biting on this. This feels like a panic trade though - Sandin is still young enough and has enough upside that I don't love trading him for a middle-6 grinder who's been getting by on elevated shooting percentages like Crouse has been (24 goals on 146 shots since the beginning of last season for a 16.4 shooting percentage after shooting 8.8% in the first 281 games of his career.)
-I think Vancouver takes this? Feels like Canucks fans have been wanting to dump Pearson for a while, and a 2nd rounder is worth them taking back NAK's 1x$1M deal.
-Simmonds is an FC guy - unless he gets a ton of run and shows he's still worth a bottom-6 role in the NHL I can't see any team actively paying for him.

Zach Hyman is seeking closer to 7 x $6,000,000 on his next deal, And noway i see Sakic giving that much to Phillip Grubauer with his injury history. With Bernier on the market now i see Sakic going after him before giving big money to Grubs.

Buff is paying too much, Eichel and Mitch are comperables so they cancel out. Rielly and Dahlin are comperables, although Rielly might be better at the moment, Dahlin is younger and has a higher celing and more defencive potential. cutting it off there would be good

MIN declines that pretty easily. Not saying Foligno and Kerfoot aren't comparable value-wise, but Foligno is a key leader in the room and brings a lot to MIN. He's valued pretty highly here - getting him would require an overpay.

No way 2 Russian players come over and start on a contending team in there 1st year in the States. Let alone their 1st year in the NHL. The game is very different, not just the NHL ring being smaller, which is hard enough to get used too. But they have to get accustomed to everything else as well. On and off the ice. Maybe Lehtonen, the way better player of the two, make the team. But that’s still unsure.</div></div>
😂 well then both of them will stay in the KHL. There will not fly over to North America to play in the AHL. Also Lehtonen is LEGIT!!!
