<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gregory_papas</b></div><div>ranger fans would hate me for this but your offer is probably an overpayment. depending how much people value jesse.

a couple of comparable players that were traded: André Burakovsky, who brought back a 2nd and 3rd. buch &gt; burakovsky.
Mike Hoffman was traded for a 2nd, 4th and 5th. hoffman &gt; buch.

1 for 1 trades for buch is probably out of the question because how often do you see two top 6 forward traded 1 for 1. the rangers need a top pairing LD but buch is only bringing that back in a package if the rangers add another quality player or high draft pick.

if the rangers do draft buch, which i think they will before the tdl of 2021. it's going to be to dump his upcoming salary raise. picks and prospects makes the most sense. IMHO

now if it was up to me and i had my way, i'd prefer to package him with one of their defensive prospects or the 1st round pick they get for kreider for a top 6 forward.</div></div>

The way I see it, Puljujarvi is probably worth a mid to high 2nd, and the 2nd next year I added would be mid to late round if all goes according to plan.

So in pure draft capital you’re looking at a pair of mid 2nd rounders for Buch, as well as Khaira who at a million bucks is a good 4th line physical presence for a young team.

I don’t know if they have any interest in moving him, I could see why they would but can understand why they wouldn’t, but if they do he’s a fantastic fit in Edmonton.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kotkaniemi15</b></div><div>I’ll give you a small pass, because maybe you’ve never seen Romanov play, or maybe you’re so removed from hockey that you’ve never heard of him. Romanov is the real deal. I have no doubt in my mind that he will be a top pairing defenseman in short order. When he, Caufield, Poehling, Kotkaniemi, Primeau, etc. become impact players, is when the Canadiens are ready to be contenders. At that point you have Romanov in your top 4, Chiarot as a solid 2nd pairing defenseman, and Mete as a 2nd pairing D playing on the 3rd pair. And that’s not even including moving someone to make room if Norlinder/Harris have secured a spot. Again, Montreal has far more use for Drouin, who plays wing, and is an extremely valuable part of the team.
While your outsider’s POV is that Nurse would be good for the Canadiens, which of course he would. Any team would want Nurse in a vacuum. But there are other factors, especially the fact that Drouin is more useful.

Also, I have no idea what you mean about losing Petry in the summer, since his contract is up in 2021. And if Montreal does lose Petry, that’s even more incentive not to trade for Nurse, and focus on RHD.</div></div>

I’ve seen Romanov play, I didn’t mention him in my list of players you shouldn’t be counting on, he’s a good player, however pegging him to play top pair right now is a dangerous game. I also think you’re over rating Chairot quite a bit.

You listed 1 D-man a goalie and a bunch of forwards as your “next wave” however D men take longer to develop so counting on Romanov to be ready to go when the forwards are seems foolish. Nurse drastically improves the Canadiens D right now and he will still be in his prime when you say they are ready to compete.

I did make a mistake on Petry though, I thought he expired at the end of this year.
