Its more a thought experiment, but I personally don't think the Preds are talented enough to hold off the Oilers, Flames, and Wild who will be coming.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jd__</b></div><div>Nothing has been said in a long time about the Predators having Saros available for trade. Can’t put all your faith in a rookie goaltender and a competent backup to bring your team to the playoffs. To call the Preds a “not great team” is abysmal considering they are in a playoff spot at this time.

Even if the Preds wanted to trade Saros, I don’t think this even does it for an arguable top 5 goalie in the whole league.</div></div>

The Preds dumped Johansen, Ekholm, and Duchene last season for a changing of the guard. Josi is 33, McDonagh is 34, Schenn is 33, Barrie they don't want. The young guys are ready, Askarov is close if not already ready and Lankinen can probably hold the fort. The Preds are in transition, or at least they should be.

But you're right, if they trade Saros, they should be getting at least 1 A asset back and the Leafs 1st and Minten are probably B+ assets at best. If this is Knies and the 1st, I think the Preds should be doing it. Having Askarov and Lankinen in net and being able to build around Tomasino and Knies and some of their really really good prospects plus 2 firsts this year and next (and last year actually) they'll be on the right track vs a 28 year old goalie with a year and a half left.
