Rangers fans - Could we worked a Lundkvist trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buchnevichh</b></div><div>A significant overpay for a 30 point forward and a terrible defensemen ?</div></div>
I'm saying calm down and don't go crazy trying to get him. If one of those pieces isn't close to getting Lundkvist, walk away.
Chiarot and Lehkonen separately are expected to get a better cumulative return than Lundkvist alone. This is putting all your eggs in one basket. Not warranted at this time.

But yes that is not a good offer</div></div>
Poulin is definitly better than Legare. with the switch I would accept the deal.
Poulin as a big top 6 foward. (Montreal has none)
Desmith would solve the never ending backup problem with a low caphit.
Bjugstad would bring some size in the bottom 6 short term. (need those for playoffs).
That 2nd could be close to a 3rd, but maybe 2022 is far enough to be a bad year for pens.

You need to understand that a player's cap hit is calculated daily, so it goes down as the season wears on.
Remaining Daily Cap Hit: $278,495

Trading down options NYI CGY LAK
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>what would you have in mind if NYI would trade up with MTL?
trades moving up 8 spots in the 1st are a lot more significant than moving up 8 spots in the later rounds
this is all hypothetical of course, but realistically speaking, someone like Newhook, Podkolzin, Kaliyev, Lavoie will still be available at 15th, where at 23rd they are all gone. Aren't those players exactly what NYI are looking for? MTL don't necessarily need more wingers, and this years 1st rd seems to be pretty Dman heavy.</div></div>
lets entertain this for min.
Realistically, move up trades where 1st round picks are swapped, at that area of the draft generally work as such: team A trades up to Team B spot. and team A sends a 2nd or third round pick and Team B sends back a 4th or a 5th round pick. so without nick leddy even in the fold a traditional trade like this would be:
Isles Trade: 2019 1st round, 2019 2nd round
MTL Trade: 2019 1st round, 2019 5th round
a conservative view of what a futures package for Nick Leddy would look like: 1st and 2nd and 3rd.
thats a very conservative package, realistically a top 4 puck moving defenseman under 30 w 3 years of term should be worth more than that.
Trading Nick leddy for a top 6 forward from MTL: probably Tomas Tatar and a 3rd or 4th round pick
so I would guess it would have to look something like this:
Isles trade: Nick leddy, 2019 1st round pick(23rd), 2019 5th round pick (it probably should be a 4th round pick but the isles don't have one)
MTL Trades: 2019 1st round pick(15th), Tomas Tatar

Sound like an honest trade maybe a little in Mtl favor but on an all sound good . Reasoning is well expressed and make a lot of sense , good job . Im calling Marc but he is in Germany apparently (his wife said) (she said doN'T call that late , that what she said)

deal with MTL
I know point is really good, but as a habs fan I don't like it. Taking on $6M in Callahan's contract, trading away promising prospects Poehling and brook, as well as multiple draft picks.
Just sign a UFA (Duchene).

Price and Pacio out
I like the kickers on each of those trades...
FYI- Van have already trade for Luongo a few years ago... and Luongo has a huge contract and still work out well!
So I don't see Price contract a bid of a deal for the BC Homeboy. (In 3 years 10M/y will be normal in the league)
Galch + 2x2nd seems low for ROR... they will require one of the 3 1st you have collected. Galch, highest 1st No#11 + Low 2nd No#40.

Price and Pacio out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>Not with that albatross of a contract.</div></div>
Even with that contract teams would still pay a high price for him. In the evaluation of a trade he is worth multiple elite pieces (don’t think the trade above makes sense), those pieces could include a top five pick, elite prospect and a roster player.
It was rumoured that St.louis offered MTL Jake Allen, Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou for Price. That’s with his contract and they said no, same was said for PK Subban when he signed his contract but they still had Vancouver offering them Bo Horvat, Tanev and #5 overall for him (the trade they should have taken).
Point is that we as fans look at these contracts and think they are ridiculous but for actual GMs that’s just the price that you have to pay for proven players

I've had enough!!!
The trades are bold but I don't mind them, TBH. Maybe a little tweak here or there to balance it out....bur if you look at the line-up...it looks a lot better to me than this year's version.
The Price-Rinne deal has a lot of risk to it. Montreal is getting a top 6 centre and a top 2 LHD along with a vezina winning goaltender. The biggest red flag is the obvious...Rinne is older but cheaper and you're not sure how many years he has left. That being said...$10.5 for Price could just as easily turn into a smart deal as it could turn into an awful one...especially if injuries keep taking him out of the lineup for a chunk of the season.
ROR is an interesting case and I've commented a lot on him the last 24hrs. I think he brings tremendous value as a second line C....and I think Buffalo trades him this off-season...but I just don't think they'll get the return they're hoping for. The guy has an 'A' on his sweater but gets in front of a mic and says playing in Buffalo this year has taken his love of the game away? There's enough of a need for top 6 centres around the league that Buffalo will get a good return...I just don't see a big over payment.
