Also Columbus laughs at this offer. Not a chance they trade Jones or Anderson in division.</div></div>
lets also remember the exact opposite happened in johansen for jones - except hall and jones are both significantly better than johansen imo

i agree, we also thought mtl wouldn't trade subban - again im not saying lock it in, I want hall to stay, but in terms of give and get i think this makes more sense than the 85 draft picks 3 prospects and 12 conditions ive been seeing.
moral of the story is, swap out jones for werenski, in any case im talking about a hockey trade where one team needs a legitimate defenseman and one needs an mvp caliber play driver
theres only a couple teams that have the players, needs, and cap space, columbus is one of them

idk that i agree, if you look at nashville, it's just different - i think each team comes out better (assuming nj can actually score without hall lol). i think we all agree nashville is better now that they can score
they give up some d for one of the nhls top play drivers - vatanen is a top 4 d, on a team with real defensive structure he's prob even better than in nj where hes covering for other deficiencies

New Jersey Devils signed Nico Hischier (7 Years / $7,250,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>capfriendlyaccount</b></div><div>Great job getting him locked up early, long term RFA deals benefit the team much more often than not.
His closest comparables are Monahan, RNH and MacKinnon, very good company in terms of value.</div></div>
idk about your comps, but i still agree! lol
RNH i can see, I actually prefer to look at larkin personally. Larkin has shown a little more offense, but I'd take nico defensively. Given inflation and the contracts signed since larkins and the term larkin got, I'd say this is pretty good for NJ

Free Jack from this mess
I think the takeaway here is that the devils want to trade to reobtain reid boucher. this is newsworthy
Also i skimmed everyone elses comments - jack is ready, he's figuring it out, theres no denying that with the puck the team is more dangerous. Of all my criticism of john hynes, the one thing he stands out for is player development. Jack will be fine developing under hynes, he will scale back minutes or scale up minutes as necessary, put him in positions to succeed, etc.
secondly, nicos contract is solid

didnt you see? carrick is gone for picks - i.e a top 5 pick then we trade hall to an outsider (because thats what he wants) and they just dont quite make it. Through the hall effect, they win the lottery, and we get two of the top 5 picks. in order to even out the trades though we sent away zacha even though theres 0 reason to trade him away

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingLundqvist30</b></div><div>That isn’t even that bad of a package tbh.</div></div>
Way too much - smith and hughes are comps, i give the edge to hughes and the leverage to van knowing what it means for marketing so will def have to overpay. On just value including smith and a 1st > hughes, still don't think it gets done. Add in an NHL level prospect about to make the jump like mcleoud I think makes sense (then maybe or maybe not add throw ins) zacha bratt smith 1st and throw ins is absolutely absurd

I agree we should try to get Quinn, and Smith hasn't done himself any favors this camp. I know he has a great upside, but I think the Hughes connection makes it something we should try. Especially after missing the boat with the Niedermayer brothers.
Do you think Smith and a 1st for Quinn without Mcleod would be enough?</div></div>

nucks fans can fry all they want, smith and quinn are comps, michael mcleoud looks ready to make the jump, and theyre getting a first. at the end of the day they're in a better spot than they were pre trade, and the gm would have to consider it.
I think there is a market for sami, if not a first, you think a second and third/fourth? along those lines

In terms of value I agree 100% overpayment, I used the third to try and recoup some. The marketing potential gives vancouver some leverage, additionally the hype surrounding quinn would require a bit of an overpayment as well

Also I think hischier contract will be more than that. Clayton Keller just got signed at that and he’s not even a C.
Imo unless Blackwood has an unreal season he doesn’t deserve much more than 1.5 m for 2 seasons. He’s been average.</div></div>
We absolutely do not need to move zacha and we absolutely do not need to trade to pay a 3rd liner 4.6MM for 3 years. Keep hischier hughes zacha down the middle
also i completely agree if blackwood is meh 1.5 - 2.5 makes sense, Idt its fair to say he was average last year though, on a much worse team he had better #'s than carter hart, just not the pedigree

Shero will do something similar to crosby geno with hall hischier hughes imo - the intent for all of them is to win, they will all get rich in the process.
Severson is definitely not being traded imo, and certainly wouldnt for that package, again imo. I think if you were to do something like that, we prob would let sami walk, or trade him ahead of the deadline as opposed to moving sevs

The issue with the deal is hes going to get 9 MILL plus if he continues developing, for the next 3 years its an unbelievable contract. the issue is after that 3 years they have jones and werenksi looking like a more expensive version of karllson burns in terms of cap
