I mean credit for putting in a lot of effort, but this is just horrendous for Ottawa.

Trading all that to move up, just to select Parekh is beyond stupid. To start with, in my opinion, there's a really high chance that Parekh would fall to Ottawa at 8 anyway, so there’s no reason to move up to get him. There's a clear top 3 in this draft, but even when the field opens up at 4, I can't see Parekh going ahead of guys like Catton, Buium, Dickinson, Silayev, Lindstrom. At least 3 of those guys will go ahead of Parekh, so Ottawa's essentially a lock to have the chance to draft one of those two RHD studs in Parekh or Yakemchuk. Parekh has a wicked skillset, but I don't think he puts himself head and shoulders above the rest of the crop of guys potentially on the board at 8 enough to warrant a trade up, especially at such a high cost. Now if the top 3 somehow miraculously ran out Celebrini/Demidov/Catton and it was Levshunov on the board at 4, I think it's a very different conversation, but that's just not happening.

The Pinto deal is also brutal. The Sens have put a lot onto developing Pinto, and that effort is starting to bear fruit as he's developing into that top 6 200ft C they desperately need. Staios has spoken many times about how they view him as part of the core, and how they intend on getting him done long term. He spoke end of season about how much he loves being a Sen, his love of this group and how he was hoping he'd have his long term extension in place before the World Championship starts (though this is seeming less than likely). The fans love him, the players love him, even local media loves dealing with the guy. There is simply no appetite in this market for a Pinto trade, at any level. There's a reason all those talking points exclusively come from external markets. It just isn't on the table.
