Seth Jones vs. Jaccob Slavin
I haven't watched a lot of Slavin to be honest. I have seen a lot of Seth Jones. Looking at a few different numbers it is actually a lot closer than I originally thought. But I have to go with Jones just because of the shot suppression he provides. They are both very good though.

2016 blues 1st home game in Chi Kane took a dumb penalty and the blues scored the winning goal. I thought it was going into overtime before they scored. I remember sitting behind the net on the glass. It was my first game on the glass. If you are all wondering Crawford does look like he talks to himself the entire game.
2015 Nash the Saturday game of that series. 1st home game in chi. I remember vividly because it was my first ever playoff game. It was the intermission where Hossa was left in the box for a couple of minutes after the period ended. I remember Brent Seabrook (he's my favorite player) scored. My dad must have thought I was crazy. The people around me must have thought I was crazy because of how much I cheered.
I remember the WCF in standing room. Shaw had two goals to send the series back to Anaheim. Booing Corey Perry. Chant "Corey Corey Corey". When Crawford made an amazing save.
Honestly I could reminisce all night long about the games I've seen. I've seen Steven Stamkos play and he was amazing. I've seen the capitals get blown out in Arizona last year and I was sitting next to a bunch of caps fans.

WCF against the ducks
Round 1 against the Blues and Nashville
Arizona I'm going to the first three Saturday games this year. I tend to go to a lot of games. Weirdest game I've ever gone to Habs and Stars in Dallas when I went down there to visit a family friend (they knew I liked a Canadian team but they just picked the wrong one). I've also gone to the Leafs Red wings outdoor game in Toronto (which was an absolute blast). I basically just get the cheap seats and move down in Arizona. But I've seen pretty much all 30 teams over the past two years.

I've been to a WCF game in Chicago a couple of first round games in Chi town. However since I go to school in AZ I go to a lot of Yotes games in the cheap seats.

Is Brandon Carlo overvalued?
He is somewhere between a number three and two defender. Which for a young guy is really good. He does a lot for shot generation and is good at shot suppression, I think his value surged kind of like Brady Skjei. He played 82 games and seems like he does have a high ceiling (however if he stays at the level he is that is pretty good). 82 games is still a small sample size in the grand scheme of things. But what do general managers value the most?
Young, Right-handed, defenders. By checking off those three boxes his value his value is high. Overall, He probably is valued about right for what the current market says.

Which Team will have the Highest Points Difference this Year?
Arizona and Dallas are good picks, however just based on the anomaly of a season they had, Colorado.
They finished worse than the McEichel Sabers who sold on top of selling. The team was not built to suck so bad. Duchene is probably going to have a better year and probably eclipse his usual 55+ points. Landenskog will probably reach 50 points. Rantanen will be a little older with some NHL experience to help him grow. Erik Johnson was hurt for part of the season. Zadorov was pretty decent at shot suppression. Barrie had a terrible shooting percentage last year and it will probably have a better offensive year. Also they have some decent to good prospects in JT Compher and Tyson Jost.
They aren't going to good maybe .500 give or take but not the .293 that they were last year.

2017-2018 MTL Canadiens standings predictions (using only stats from Price + backups)
My main concern with the Habs is that Price needs to be healthy. We saw the cliff that the Habs fell off when Price was hurt. Honestly any team that has Price and and decent backup like Montoya is they are a playoff team.
Honestly it depends on the teams around them too. If I am a Habs fan Tampa scares me. I'm wary of Toronto. Buffalo could make a playoff push (at least fight for a wildcard spot.) Boston, Ottawa, and Florida I have some questions about their line ups but they'll be in the mix.
I expect Montreal (Just based on what Price and Montoya can do) to be in 2 or 3 seed and play Toronto in the first round, which I am all for 100%, sign me up for that kind of series.

What's wrong with the Flames goaltending ... they got Mike Smith.</div></div>
I hope you are joking. You're right "all star" Mike Smith. He's average, which average goal-tending can take you to the playoffs in a weak division, which the West as a hole is becoming weaker, however he is good at blocking high danger shots, however he is below average against medium and low danger shots. He's like Eddie Lack in a way that he is streaky. I expect him to be somewhere between a .910 and .915 Save %. He is just average. But Goaltending has been Calgary's Achilles heel for the past 5 years. Elliot didn't work out, Hiller is in Europe somewhere, Ramo was placed on waivers in his tenure. Chad Johnson was at least serviceable.
Its not like we haven't seen what bad goaltending can do to a team. Price went down and Montreal didn't make the playoffs (not saying that Condon and Scrivy were bad) but some teams--any team--can live and die by their goaltending. Calgary is just one of those teams. They are not going to be a team that scores a lot of goals.

Pacific Standings
I've put some thought into the standings
1. Edmonton-it is kind of hard to root against McDavid and his band of merry men to finish first. Cam Talbot was unreal last year and I expect him to continue to be better. Jesse Puljujarvi will probably make the team and put up good numbers in the AHL (its hard for a teenager to put up a point a game in the AHL.) They do need to get a new backup because Brossoit is not going to cut it because I don't think that Talbot is one of those Price or Bob goalies who can play 65+ games a season.
2. Anaheim- It was tough not to say that Anaheim will win the division, they have one of the best, young defensive group. Bieksa can just sit in the press box every night and have their cheap guys play. It is their strongest feature by far. If Gibson can just stay healthy and Ryan Miller doesn't fall off a cliff that is a great tandem. The forward group is where I have questions, which I assume that young players like Sam Steel or Max Jones might challenge for roster spot.
3. Calgary-Bad goaltending will sink a team like a rock, reference the Blue Jackets in the 2015-16. Lazar can't fluke his way into another 1 goal in 37 games again. They have a great top 5 D and have some good D prospects. For forward Johnny Hockey and Sean Monahan are going to be good. They are going to live and die by their goaltending of Mike Smith and Eddie Lack. Lack is a fine goalie, who is prone to streaks.
4. San Jose- Just a solid team who I like could finish third. They are getting older and we will see how they will handle the up and coming teams. I don't know how they are going to handle the young speed.
5.Arizona-I love their off season moves but not this year. They are going to have one more year of missing the playoffs and might challenge for a wildcard spot. if Raanta and Domingue can hold the fort, they are going to be great next year. They have a couple of stop gaps. Much like Toronto, the young kids are coming. (I guess my 17 dollar tickets through ASU are going to go up a little.)
6. Los Angles-The sun is setting, they can't be too mad though. They'll just plug their ears with their cup rings. They have some great pieces like Toffoli and Muzzin. Kopitar will probably have a better year, but do they have some baaaaaaaaaad deals.
7. Vancouver- One more year of the Sedins, Then the rebuild truly starts. They have good pieces with Horvat, Boeser, Hutton. Demko, Joulevi, Goldobin, Dahlen plus a no worse than top 6 draft pick this year. They have pieces that are going to be good just have to suffer for a couple years. If they can send the Sedins away to contenders (which splitting them up proably won't happen) there are two first round picks right there. Sam Ganger is going to be a good stop gap and they can trade him too.
8. Vegas- I thought the expansion draft was going to be better than I think now. But Here is the good news, everyone is going to be traded. Before the trade deadline, Neal is going to be gone, Perron is going to be gone. Sbisa is going to be gone. Also over the next three years they have 10 picks in the first two rounds. Glass and Suzuki are going to be good.

I can see Markov going to the panthers on a two year 5.5 ish deal give or take 250k in either direction.
I think they are going to struggle for a playoff spot. You can expect Price to score the goals for you and that was MTL's problem last year. The idea was to have Drioun AND Radulov for the goal scoring. They will have to make some young bets in McCarron and Hudon.

Can someone explain the Taro Tsujimoto story?
So the Sabers GM at the time was not a fan of the draft system so he used his 11th round pick. Teams generally didn't like picking players outside the US and Canada and like how the draft is now after the first round players do not go up to a stage and meet their guys. James Riemer was at home when the Leafs drafted him, so it was a good cover. Basically it is now just a big inside joke.

When Russia wins (baring something crazy happening), is it even going to matter, the best players in the world are going to be sitting on their thumbs in the US and Canada. I do agree, we should just have have the kids go play. I am interested to see what USA kind of hoping they just pull kids from college and send them.
