LINES if Montreal makes 24 team playoff format
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsForEver</b></div><div>It's a great feeling for sure, but it's still not a successful season if they lose. It's a great feeling because of how close we are to being there.</div></div>
That's a sad outlook on life. Statistically speaking, if you win a cup once in 31, soon to be 32 (Seattle) years your doing fine.
If you think winning the Stanley Cup is the only definition of a successful season than you're going to be disappointed with your team for most of your life.
Going to the ECF and knocking off the 1 and 2 seeds was a successful season. Going to the ECF final in 2014 and beating the Bruins in a game 7 was a successful season. Heck, even getting 96 pts in 2018-19 was considered a success.
Everyone wants to see their team win the Stanley Cup. You don't just go from lottery pick to Stanley Cup, it takes time. Each minor success builds towards the ultimate goal of winning the Cup.

Do you remember the feelings of watching the habs just get to the conference finals in 2010 and 2014? It's amazing. Only one team gets to win it all but that doesn't mean the team that loses didnt give the fans anything to cheer about.

Romanov vs Sergachev
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EzioUchiha</b></div><div>Apparently Brayden Point refused an OS from Montreal. That being said, I don't think Sergachev will return to Montreal through an OS (unless it's through trade or FA like David Perron or Peter Forsberg). That's the team that gave up on him after "showering him" w/ hype about being their next Andrei Markov.</div></div>
Point still got over $6M in TB. If the cap stays flat, TB will only have ~$4M for Sergachev. If TB could only have given Point $4M he would have likely went the offersheet route.
Anyways, if Sergachev has no interest in signing an offersheet with MTL then I see no reason to trade for his rights.

He is only 21. We would have seen progression if MTL gave him any powerplay time, but I don't see that ever happening since their powerplay has sucked and they still wouldn't try him.
The best case for Mete would be getting a new opportunity. He is still a really good defenseman I wouldnt accept anything less than an early 2nd for him.

Romanov vs Sergachev
For me, Romanov is off the table, but this is exactly who TB would ask for in a Sergachev trade. ELC for 3 more years and has the potential to be a stud. If nothing else he will be a cheap reliable young Dman for them.
They would probably want a conditional pick, like Sergachev + 2nd round pick for Drouin in that deal.
Don't do this habs. Just offersheet Sergachev if you want him. If he isn't interested then why would we want him?

"#Habs Romanov's agent Dan Milstein on conference call: "(Romanov)'s coming to Montreal on a one-way ticket... he's coming to Montreal for good." Romanov says he's ready for North American play, whether in AHL or NHL."
- John Lu via twitter
Good to know Romanov is open to playing in the AHL. I hope he blows us away in MTL but if he had to have a stint in MTL playing with all the other future core players it certainly wouldn't be a bad thing for him.
The athletic recently posted an article about how MTL should turn Laval into a proving grounds for their prospects since training camp can be to small of a sample size. I think if Romanov is stuck in the 3rd pairing or something with no PP time in MTL he would be better off playing 1st pairing in Laval with PP time. He will never develop an offensive game if MTL is not prepared to give him a chance in an offensive role.
Edit: Another One
"Yeah I’m ready to play in AHL, I’m ready to play in NHL. I’m ready to play in North America.” - Alexander Romanov.

I'm not trying to suggest he would get a 3rd overall pick.
At the end of the day when the habs drafted KK Timmins said we are taking the player who may not be the best right now, but who we see being the best years from now.
After a successful rookie season, better than Hughes and Kakko's might I add, are you saying KK's value should have been higher than a 3rd?
After a poor sophomore season, which starting the year injured contributed too, do you think MTL management thinks hes a bust? He was still the 6th youngest player in the NHL this season and he played great in the AHL.
I don't get your arguement of "a team would rather keep the 3rd than hope a guy like KK reaches his potential". MTL literally drafted KK hoping he would reach his potential, as would any other team drafting any player.
The idea of trading KK for a 3rd overall pick is idiotic and no one is suggesting anyone should do that (from both sides), but your arguement against KK implies that his value has dropped, when in MTL's eyes at least, KK is exactly the player they were expecting, he had a pleasantly good rookie season and then some disappointing injuries this season. How does that = value dropped?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>boknowshockey53</b></div><div>Well, for one thing, Fox is on the Rangers 3rd pair which means he spends much less time against the opponent's top lines. Which could be the reason behind a +22 vs -10 even though plus-minus is a bull**** stat. If you would like to compare how complete each player is I would look at the percentage of chances for vs against while on the ice at even strength. Which shows Hughes having 52.7 and Fox having a 51.7. Hughes also averages 3 minutes more of ice time each game putting him 2nd on his team. While Fox is seventh among Rangers skaters. Hughes also helped take a powerplay that was one of the worst in the league last year to top 5 this season. You also seem quick to dismiss his point totals but I would like to point out that this is the most points by a rookie defenseman since Nick Lidstrom. So yes I would agree there is no case to be made.</div></div>
Are you saying if Fox had more icetime he could have done more? ;)
Edit:
I don't think +/- is a BS stat. It's a simple stat, it needs to be used with context. For example comparing Fox's +22 to Hughes -10 would not be fair since they play on different teams. Comparing Fox's team leading +22 to Hughes' team worst -10 is relevant though.

Well quite simply I believe Elvis was the 10th best goalie in the league this season, he had a great rookie season and he deserves recognition.
And Fox is just plain better than Hughes is as an all around player. This is a pretty simple stat, but very telling; Fox had the best +/- among NYR defenseman (22), while Hughes had the worst +/- among VAN defenceman (-10). And we all know Hughes wasn't being used as a defensive defenseman.
Why would you justify having Hughes higher than Fox? Besides having more points, there really isn't a case to be made.

I think the best player is a good award to have because if is more based off of pure skill. The Hart then could be given to the most valuable to their team.
On a different note, Eichel is a top 4 player in the league, watching him is one of the best and most patient player with AND without the puck. Like Scheifele said, he is a force in both ends of the rink. I think that if he had support on his team he would score as well as everyone else. I think the top 4 player rn in the league for overall impact of game is Eichel, McDavid, Mackinnon, and Crosby. Not in order. I think that those 4 tip the ice the most in their favor when they touch the ice.</div></div>

And this is coming from a CBJ fan. I’d also give Calder to Suzuki before Merzlinkis. Remember Merzlinkins was awful at the a start of the year posing a 6+ GAA and under .850 save %. Then he was amazing when Korpisalo when down and he had all the pressure on him.</div></div>
Kuemper didn't play enough to be considered for Vezina (in another post I made I did have him as a top 5 goalie in the league though). A case could be made for Bishop, but a case can be made for Vas too, they will both get votes, Vas would be my pick.
I'd rather acknowledge a very good season by a rookie goalie than give my vote to the third best rookie Dman. I would argue Merzlinkis was almost a top 10 goalie in the NHL this year, he is deserving of recognition, he would have my vote for third. On the other hand Hughes is way younger, but age shouldn't necessarily matter. Third is between Hughes and Elvis in my opinion. Kubalak and Suzuki are long shots.

The league calculates the value of players based on there total stats for the league settings and Pacioretty is 13th overall vs Huberdeau at 42nd.
There is nothing to debate either than the stats itself but they're general fantasy stats: G, A, PTS, +/-, PIMs, PPP, SHP, GWG, Sh, Hits, FOWs, BLK's.
How does 29 PPP = almost double 19 PPP. Double 19 PPP = 38 PPP.

Huberdeau has the edge in 3 categories, Assists, Points, and PPP. Pacioretty had the edge in 8 categories, they are tied in one other one.
It's not like Huberdeau is scoring way more than Pacioretty, only 12 pts. But as mentioned Pacioretty has double the amount of shots and hits as Huberdeau. That's huge.
While huberdeau is a one dimensional fantasy player (he gets points), Pacioretty gets points while doing way more, (3rd in the league in shots).
Edit:
In leagues that only care about points I'm sure Huberdeau is a better option, but in most leagues that carry several categories, Pacioretty was a beast this year.
As I said, Yahoo ranked him 13th overall based on the league settings. Huberdeau was 42nd so it's not debatable its just a fact that Pacioretty was better fantasy player this year in leagues that go further than just points.
