Why would NSH consider that for even a second?

Wow that's a high cost. It's buriable but like 3 years at 1.15 is definitely more than I expected

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SharkTank</b></div><div>Sounds like wishful thinking to me.
DeMelo is a big RD right in his prime.
I'm sure he loves playing for the Jets but he's going to be trying to cash in on a retirement deal this summer.
Top 4D always get paid in UFA.
Ben Chiarot got 4.75 mil and Justin Holl got 3.2!
They're not even top 4D! 😬
Matt Roy will be getting the Brinks Truck as well for the same reasons as DeMelo.
Edit: You edited Roy ok.</div></div>
I never edited Roy, that was what I proposed the entire time for him
But yeah that’s a good point about DeMelo, I’ll take it into consideration going forward!

Leafs Rumours
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Not likely that Treliving pays Matt Roy 6.25M. Something in the 4.25-5Mx4 range is more reasonable, same for DeMelo. Bertuzzi would need at least 4-years probably (5.75MX3 is under 20M). I think he was looking for 6-6.5Mx6 last year, so I would imagine for him to sign, he'll need a 25-30M contract this year. He might take the deal that you proposed if he thinks he can get a bigger payday at 32.</div></div>
Fair enough, thanks for the feedback I’ll take it into consideration for the future!!

Leafs Rumours
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AC14</b></div><div>The odds of a team trading for a large contract at the draft or prior to most of the large UFAs signing is very slim.
Why? Well as nice as it is to map out all of these extra signings you can do with the cap space, other teams are exploring those options and going hey we can probably address our needs with our cap space instead of having to trade a core piece and future assets to bring a guy in.
I’ll give you that Marner is likely a bit of an exception given the caliber of player he is. But with that, teams likely are wary of what that players production would be A. In a different system and B. Without the caliber of forward talent the player is currently surrounded by.
This doesn’t factor in either that Marner pretty much holds all of the chips in his hand with the NMC, and with it taking him right to UFA, he can pretty much decide where he’d go.
The one benefit for you in this hypothetical is there is a hypothetical where Saros is expendable. I’m not sure if Marner would re-sign in Nashville though with them banking on rookie goaltending with a lesser roster than the team he came from doing the same with a better roster.</div></div>
Fair enough, thanks for your input! I appreciate the feedback and will look at this more

Cowan is a workhorse, not afraid to get in your face, just a horrible time to deal with. He has said numerous times to model his game after Kadri. (Just hopefully he won't get suspended every playoffs like Kadri did lol.)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rajvinder</b></div><div>If you are all looking for a name most fan won't know who is going to impact the Leafs next year the answer is Jacob Quillan. He is higher on the center depth chart than Minten (not as high of potential but closer to reaching his).
I'd be shocked if he didn't get some games in the NHL and wouldn't be surprised if he got a job out of camp or earned a place on the roster during the season.
Out of the names you provided, Webber will be the 7-9th D so likely to get games. Niemla could honestly be traded, he isn't going to be a stud and even if he hit his potential today he's at best a Lili replacement if Lili flops. But he could get games if he's in the organization.</div></div>
I agree on Quillan, I think he could make an impact quicker than a lot of people realize. I just listed those names bc they’re defence and I think that’s more of a weakness than F right now so they have more of a chance for more callups.

LA's gonna move on from Roy giving Clarke a spot.</div></div>
I think if LA moves on from Roy, the Leafs should be all over him for a 5-6 year deal.

2-way guys would be more like
Toffoli, Stephenson, Teräväinen, etc

Now if I was to look at reasonable options
Heinen and Foegele would be interesting additions.
If we want to trade Texier is a name that would spark interest</div></div>
Fair enough, I've looked at Foegle a little bit and I think he could be a good FA addition
