He's not worth more than 5.5M on a bridge, maybe 5M is too low but 5.5 on a 2 year deal. We bridged Dahlin on 6M x 3 years and Dahlin was considered generational defenseman prospect coming into the NHL, something Zegras definitely is not.

Just a classic case of Sabres fans or anyone else's fanbase overvaluing the value of non-roster prospects. Tuch alone is worth the package I quoted for Zegras and he's arguing the 2 packages were almost the same :)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojme</b></div><div>Savoie is definitely an NHL caliber player. At worst he's a blue chip prospect. Idk anyone who would say he isn't/isn't trending to be a top line player. Rousek is also trending to be a full time NHL player. UPL is at worst an NHL backup goalie. The first on top of all that is too much. This is more than we got for eichel and even with his injury status at the time, holds more value than zegras does currently. This trade is not worth it for the Sabres.</div></div>
Eichel had a potential career-ending injury and was on a 10 mil cap hit at the time of the trade. This guy has the Eichel upside is just after an ELC, and won't command 10mil. Don't think it's fair to compare the two situations. UPL has a late round pick value with his numbers, recent development and non-waiver exempt status, Rousek has a value of like a 3rd round pick...if we are optimistic. Savoie has upside for sure but could bust, just like any prospect that hasn't played more than a season in the NHL and he hasn't sniffed the NHL yet and may be behind some of our other prospects already. I'd trade a package like that for someone proven with the upside of Zegras, it doesn't have to be Zegras specifically but he works too as long as the management are sure he won't be a cancer in the dressing room.

Savoie is a maybe NHL-er, he hasn't proven anything in the man's game and might not even prove anything this year either. The rest are projects and the 1st rounder from this year may turn into an NHL-er in like 4 years time. I don't think this is too much for a relatively proven top pick with huge upside. The thing is that is probably the sort of return Ducks are looking for so the trade works for both sides IMO even if the fine details could be slightly different. We literally have no place on the roster for any of the 4 assets, even without Zegras on it :)

Playoff Team - Hart Karlsson Nosek
What I put in the trade equates to a 1st and more, it's not a straight swap for UPL. If I thought UPL is on the ame level as Hart right now or in the future, I wouldn't package UPL with 3 other assets for Hart. But Flyers fans dreaming that Hart will net them two 1sts should be prepared to be disappointed for sure. When was the last time a non-proven top 10 starter in the NHL netted such a return? Goalies are voodoo and are cheaper in trades for a reason unless you are talking about someone like Helle, Shesterkin, etc.

I think the Sabres are a perfect fit for Hart, what do you mean you agree. As I said when you have Hart and Levi, chances are one of them will prove an actual NHL starter. Hart hasn't proven that yet. Someone mentioned Hellebyuk above - I think he's a bad fit for Buffalo as you will absolutely have to re-sign him and give up a ton for him as he's proven quality NHL goalie, and yet you have Levi sitting there who I think has a better than 50% chance to turn into a quality NHL starter in a couple of years.

Plus Hart doesn’t need to go, and he won’t go unless a first round pick is involved, not a variety of scraps</div></div>
He's hovering around .905 average for the last 3 seasons and 3 GAA and already makes nearly 4mil, no one is giving up multiple firsts for him. Because what you listed basically equates to a couple of late 1st round picks. Frankly I think I think he's a risk for the Sabres too but you buy him and hope either him or Levi works our long term, no team would bank on Hart solely because he has not proven he can do it so far (and 2 late 1sts implies you are banking on him to be a sure starter).

Prepare to be disappointed with the return when he's traded then. He is not a proven starting goaltender, he could turn into next Matt Murray, no one is giving up multiple premium assets for him.

Sabres w RNH
I'd rather have Vesey with Jack and move Sam with RNH in this scenario, but generally it's fine for me. Whether EDM wants to trade RNH and move Drai to 2C is a whole different topic. Also we can retain more on Sheary if needed, trade Nelson for late round pick. Also I'd like to buyout Sobotka and try to dump Scandella on someone that needs a warm body even at 50% retention.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jcash08</b></div><div>I think you're gonna see some offer sheets this year, because the teams with the most top end players to be given offer sheets are in Cap Crunches (Winnipeg, Toronto, and Tampa). If Toronto holds out and doesn't offer Kappenen or Johnsson more than 2.5-3 starting off and holds out like last year with Nylander I think you will see offer sheets start coming.
IMO because they already have to find a way to sign Marner I think it's going to take longer to get Johnsson and Kapanen deals done which presents a better opportunity for an Offer Sheet.</div></div>
Johnsson can be taken to arbitration so there is a way out for Toronto on him. I think someone like Sabres can get Kappy for a 2nd rounder at 4.2 as I can't see how Toronto can match that considering what Marner will likely make. That's assuming kappy is not traded before offersheet period starts of course.

He played with absolutely no talent around him. He I think is a solid cost-controlled 2 way middle six player, that can player center or wing and frankly our 1st is very late, at the point where you hope that 4 years down the line that pick at least turns into Tierney type of quality player. Thats the reasoning. Tierney surrounded by some talent should have 20 goals, 60 points upside.
Oh and I thin Tierney is a fairly good character guy that won't give up and fit very well under Krueger.

As for Grubauer and the playoffs, no one is basing his value on 2 games he was "meh" in. He wasn't even bad. He has 101 games of regular season games that show he's a starter.</div></div>
Again, he's not a starter, he has the potential to be one but Darling also had that and we can see how that ended. McCabe>>Djoos. Don't know about Johansen but "he will be a top pairing defenseman" is a bit optimistic for someone that hasn't played a single NHL game and is only 20.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wagsnags</b></div><div>You may not like our Goalie situation but it is far from pathetic..... the issue with the goaltending had more to do with our defensive lapses and inability to play defense (forwards were atrocious in the defensive zone) and our teams woeful offense (we were last in the league in goals scored).
If you listen to GMBots interview and the end of the season and then in subsequent interviews when he was asked about Ullmark. His responses included:
'Linus has done everything the organization has asked of a young net minder he has demonstrated that he deserves the opportunity in 18/19'
'Linus will be the #1 goalie in Buffalo in 18/19 barring an injury or setback'
'I will be looking for a mentor for Ullmark who can play 25 games as I definitely see Linus playing at least 50% of the games next year'
If a 2nd year GM goes out and makes these types of statements then goes and trades for a potential #1 goalie what does that say to all the young players in his organization...... do not believe anything I say to you...... that is not how you build a winning culture in an organization.....
GMBots likes his 'young goalie' situation so I do not see him dealing assets away for a backup.... he did that last year for Johnson and it did not work out well.</div></div>
You are drinking some cool-aid. We can't put all our eggs in the Ullmark basket who just got lit up like a Christmas tree by a bunch of AHLers only a few weeks ago. We need some other viable option for a solution to our situation in goal. Grubauer is that player.
Also the quotes you gave are literally made up.

What do you mean by loaded? Orpik is on his last legs at 37. Kempny and Orlov isn't exactly the definition of loaded. Also Grubauer is still not a starter, he has starter potential but after how he fell apart in the playoffs no one will pay young starter prices on him.

Trading ROR and Okposo for youth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Greysuits</b></div><div>I think it would be tough for MTL to pull the trigger on that trade. The top 4 in this draft is so good I think it will take a lot to trade into one of those picks.
I also think the ducks would want a player back in addition to the picks. I think the Sabres would have to throw on a Baily or Baptiste to get the #20 overall.</div></div>
Well, I would add Fasching to the 2 2nds if absolutely needed instead if trading him to LA. Dont think it would take more than that and if it does, Id just use the picks or trade for a slightly later pick using the same bait if Wilde or someone of his caliber is still there at 22-23 for example. The MTL trades assumes they are picking 5 or 6 and not top4 so they would miss out on the absolute elite. I think there is a good chance they take it as thry need a C of at least RORs caliber badly and there arent that elite Cs available in the top10 this year.
