It was bad but honestly his father ****ed up calling the security lady a liar. Matthews was ready to apologize to her but his dad ruined it making the event go public.
Deangelo on the other hand is an avid racist and toxic human being. Put him in a multicultural province like Ontario and yeah hes gonna need security wherever he goes.
In general what matthews did was wrong but its better than being a toxic racist human being. The media would have a field day with this and would not let up for the entire season. The matthews event was a month of headaches then nothing

He was convicted overseas & he made a bold draft re-traction.
Why? Well he knows and we can only speculate...
IMO, he was trying to do the right thing (after the fact sure & STAGE-1 of getting back on his feet). However, he should have been left alone, and hopefully that meant working on 'him', amending with the other party; doing it for tomorrow.
Then, in time, he works on his game...he is just 18 after all. Don't throw the baby out with the bath-water.

As one poster said earlier - he's now been thrust into the headlights (again)...
BOTTOM LINE:
MB doesn't listen. He thinks he can fix anything and its a 110% power-trip.
fire him Mr. Molson...

Quoting: DragonRaptorHybrid

public pressure is very good for the purpose of enacting accountability. if he is left alone to his own devices, he likely will not learn the lessons that need to be learned from this whole situation.
this is not to say that he can't make amends of his own volition and that public pressure wouldn't create an atmosphere that would hinder that. but, given the character profiles and stereotypes that hockey players have, in the past, inhabited (as evidenced by the details that came out from the current investigation against the Blackhawks as well as the hazing class-action lawsuit brought against the CHL), i wouldn't be surprised if Logan Mailloux is the type of person that won't learn his lesson unless public pressure is applied to enforce some sort of accountability for his actions.
also, if we, as hockey fans, simply forget that this happened and say nothing about it going forward, then we're not exactly contributing to fixing the problem. if we, as fans, don't say anything against this type of behavior, then that gives GMs yet another form of re-assurance that there's nothing wrong at all with what they're doing.

Only Logan can answer your speculation on his 'lesson-learning' abilities.
Unfortunately, the "public pressure" that seems to be gaining the most traction in 2021 is more in the realm of shaming & bullying (that's not a good answer at all frankly)...
Yes, we are doomed, ha ha
And moreover, turning onto the next trade or buzz is not the answer; you're very right. Nor is the suffocating onslaught of the Cancel Culture 101 Creeps...
