it would at least have given everybody the opportunity to figure out if he for real learned what he should have learned from this whole thing or if he just said what he said to get people off of his back and to make a judgment from there. if he showed a real commitment to learning how to be a better human being, then i think many people would be okay with the whole thing; otherwise, we'd just rip whatever team would have drafted him next year a new one like we all just did with the Habs.

I know but why should we dictate his punishment or whether or not he learned. He’s like an 18 year old kid, probably the superstar in his circle, it’s hard to learn lessons in that environment.

I’m pretty sure the deal will be Reinhart for Levi, Hepo, and 2022 1st.

I know but why should we dictate his punishment or whether or not he learned. He’s like an 18 year old kid, probably the superstar in his circle, it’s hard to learn lessons in that environment.

He was convicted overseas & he made a bold draft re-traction.
Why? Well he knows and we can only speculate...

IMO, he was trying to do the right thing (after the fact sure & STAGE-1 of getting back on his feet). However, he should have been left alone, and hopefully that meant working on 'him', amending with the other party; doing it for tomorrow.

Then, in time, he works on his game...he is just 18 after all. Don't throw the baby out with the bath-water.

As one poster said earlier - he's now been thrust into the headlights (again)...

BOTTOM LINE:
MB doesn't listen. He thinks he can fix anything and its a 110% power-trip.
fire him Mr. Molson...

public pressure is very good for the purpose of enacting accountability. if he is left alone to his own devices, he likely will not learn the lessons that need to be learned from this whole situation.

this is not to say that he can't make amends of his own volition and that public pressure wouldn't create an atmosphere that would hinder that. but, given the character profiles and stereotypes that hockey players have, in the past, inhabited (as evidenced by the details that came out from the current investigation against the Blackhawks as well as the hazing class-action lawsuit brought against the CHL), i wouldn't be surprised if Logan Mailloux is the type of person that won't learn his lesson unless public pressure is applied to enforce some sort of accountability for his actions.

also, if we, as hockey fans, simply forget that this happened and say nothing about it going forward, then we're not exactly contributing to fixing the problem. if we, as fans, don't say anything against this type of behavior, then that gives GMs yet another form of re-assurance that there's nothing wrong at all with what they're doing.

Only Logan can answer your speculation on his 'lesson-learning' abilities.

Unfortunately, the "public pressure" that seems to be gaining the most traction in 2021 is more in the realm of shaming & bullying (that's not a good answer at all frankly)...
Yes, we are doomed, ha ha

And moreover, turning onto the next trade or buzz is not the answer; you're very right. Nor is the suffocating onslaught of the Cancel Culture 101 Creeps...

My guess would be a lottery-protected 1st, one of Noel/Tippett, and possibly Heponiemi?

I think it's Lundell + Levi + 2022 1st (top 5 protection)

I cannot see them giving Lundell away after the year that boy just had. It's Reinhart, not Eichel.

Levi's a cool piece though.

Well, Reinhart to Florida will make Florida a much more formidable offense (not that it already wasn't). At least with Detroit drafting Cossa tonight I never have to see another Alnefelt to Detroit trade again in my life.

So draft round 1 reactions which will be classed in 3 tiers, good, okay bad with explanations:
1- Owen Power, Good pick, BPA
2- Matthew Beniers, Good pick, BPA
3- Mason McTavish, Bad pick, massive reach, Eklund, Clarke, Johnson, Guenther, Hughes all better picks
4- Luke Hughes, Good pick, sure Clarke/Eklund is better but Hughes connection
5- Kent Johnson, Okay pick, Eklund, Clarke better options but still a good player
6- Simon Edvinsson, Okay pick, better options on the board but they do need LD and still around where I projected him
7- William Eklund, Good pick, steal at this spot
8- Brandt Clarke, Good pick, future Doughty replacement BPA
9- Dylan Guenther, Good pick, BPA, winger to play with Keller
10- Tyler Boucher, Bad pick, massive reach, had him pegged as a 3rd
11- Forfeited
12- Cole Sillinger, Okay pick, better player available but around where I projected him
13- Matthew Coronato, Okay pick, better player available, Lysell, Lucius, around where I projected him
14- Isak Rosen, Okay pick, better players available, around where I projected him
15- Sebastian Cossa, Bad pick, Wallstedt, enough said
16- Brennan Othmann, Okay pick, around where I had him but Lysell, Svechkov, Lucius all still on the board
17- Zach Bolduc, Bad pick, reach and Lysell, Lucius, Svechkov, Ceulemans, Wallstedt still on the board
18- Chaz Lucius, Good pick, Steal, fell for some reason
19- Fedor Svechkov, Good pick, steal, fell for some reason
20- Jesper Wallstedt, Good pick, steal
21- Fabian Lysell, Good pick, steal
22- Xavier Bourgault, Okay pick, not the best center available but still around where I had him
23- Wyatt Johnston, Bad pick, massive reach, he was a 2nd/3rd for me
24- Matthew/Mackie Samoskevich, Okay pick, around where I had him but better players available
25- Corson Ceulemans, Good pick, steal, fell for some reason
26- Carson Lambos, Good pick, not the biggest fan but he’s still a good player
27- Zach L’Heureux, Okay pick, better players available, Pinelli, Raty, Pastujov, Chibrikov but still around where I had him
28- Oskar Olausson, Bad pick, reach, he’s good but has clear red flags
29-Chase Stillman, Bad pick, he was a 3rd for me, reach
30- Zach Dean, Okay pick, around where I had him but better players available
31- Logan Mailloux, Bad pick, reach, what the hell Bergy, I like Mailloux, he’s good but for me he’s a 2nd and HE ASKED NOT TO BE DRAFTED
32- Nolan Allan, Bad pick, massive reach, I think I had him as a 4th
