<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeynutter</b></div><div>The problem with the defense is outside of Reilly zero puck movers. The new NHL is fast and the defense needs to be able to move the puck up the ice. Makar, Toews, Hughes, Hronek, petrilangelo, Theodore, Josi, Letang, karlsson, Byram, dahlin, power, oel, ekblad, doughty, bouchard, ekholm, I can keep going on a huge list of defenseman. The problem with this defence core is Benoit, edmundson, lyubushkin, McCabe and demelo are below average puck movers. This will keep the puck in our zone too long. Not that those defensemen are bad but we need a defenseman like Liljegren or equivalent added because they are good puck movers as well. An ideal pairing is like Reilly demelo, ???, ??/Liljegren, Benoit /McCabe, edmundson could be ???, but we still need one more for good depth. Reilly has shown to prop up lyubushkin, Hainsey, Schenn etc... because he is a good puck mover. I get the idea where we need grit and toughness on the blueliner but everyone forgets that Tre had Andersson, Hanifin and weegar on defense as well. It was not all Zadorovs and Tanev s.</div></div>

I do agree with your take on puck moving Dmen, but I just dont see a viable option on creating a dominant D corps with at least 2 puck moving studs with the cap space they have. I just dont see Lilly as part of the future. I wish I did, but he is prone to making mistakes &amp; gets beat to often by hard forechecking teams. The hockey-sense and play under pressure has been a knock on him since his draft year. Lets wait and see if he actually plays in the playoffs though. If not, I think the writing is on the wall.

Sujet: Next year
I think this is as close to realistic as it gets! Props brother.

That being said, here are a few of my thoughts: (tiny nuances, just things that I think to be similar/swapped)

-I just can't see Roy signing here, but would love him as Mo's partner. I really don't know if the Leafs will be able to land any of the top UFA RD's without overpaying (which the Leafs won't be able to do). I think the main options will be signing a couple solid 2nd tier guys (Tanev &amp; Demelo?)

-With McCabe playing great hockey on his off side with Benoit, I wouldn't be opposed to keeping them together and going after one of the better LDs on the market to pair with Lilly.

-Cant wait to see both Minten &amp; Cowan in the show, but next year is probably too early, especially for Cowan (even though he might already be better than Minten, Minten is probably more 'pro-ready'). One thing is clear I think: A young gun will win a roster spot out of camp, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Grebyonkin or Tverberg were to do it eitehr, and Holmberg will be definitely taking the other spot in the lineup.

-I believe in 'snot' and while Reaves isn't the guy, I would love to see just one more injection of size &amp; grit to the bottom 6. (Duhaime? Clutterbuck? I dunno, they're not the greatest, but I can't think of anyone at the top of my head...).

-Banking on Woll &amp; Jones to carry the load for the year is a bit too scary for me. I guess if things were to go south, Tre would have to acquire another G, but without cap space, I guess the only path would be to clear out one or both of Kampf/Jarnkrok?

Anyway, all that being said, if I were to construct a CF roster right now it would probably look exactly like yours LOL. It's just how I see Tre building the squad going into next year, especially if the Leafs get through the first round again.
