Vatrano trade isnt realistic - end the rumor
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bbpagewolf</b></div><div>Not even close to enough. It’s gonna take Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly, Lilljegren, Robertson, and 4 1sts to get it done. You may also have to take on Silfverberg’s and Henrique’s contract at full value. That’s the only way the Leafs get Vatrano.</div></div>
Nah, Bedard's ELC is too valuable. Maybe they can have a discussion about Matthews+Nylander+Robertson for Vatrano at 50% + Henrique+ Silfverberg next season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeefBouillon</b></div><div>I can just imagine this rumor being started because Verbeek chugged a can of Monster Energy, then hopped in the NHL GM Discord and Dubas was the only one online.
"Gimme Knies, a 2024 2nd and Kerfoot and we'll give you Vatrano with 50% retained. And save that 2023 1st because we'll be expecting it when you trade for Klingberg."</div></div>
:tearsofjoy
Edit: Done laughing. I was thinking something more like Vatrano 50%+Klingberg 50% + Kerfoot+Engvall+Robertson+ 2023 1st + 3rd + one of Knies or Niemela or another two 1sts instead.

Minnesota is in no position to move on from players they have locked up cheap for term, so I doubt they would move Merrill for a rental.
Ottawa deal feels a bit light but probably about where it lands in reality.

Iafallo is perhaps the most underrated player in the NHL. If you think he's overrated, you've not watched him enough.
Muzzin may bounce back, but until he does, he's injury prone and negative value. He was never elite, even during his best years on the Kings. Solid #2 defenseman, but that's about it.
The fact that Durzi is signed to a team-friendly contract for two seasons while Sandin is holding out makes Durzi worth significantly more.
Honestly, even if both of those draft picks are going back to LA, the Kings still say no.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeefBouillon</b></div><div>It's $5.6 million for 2 years of a player who was injured for a sizable portion of last season. It won't take 5 1sts, but it's unlikely Muzzin gets traded for any significant asset going back to Toronto.</div></div>
Clearly he was being ridiculous to point out the ridiculous. Thinking anyone gives up assets at this point for Muzzin is just that ridiculous.

Lundkvist trade
Take out Lundestrom and the ducks think about it
A 23 year old that has proven worst case to be a 3rd liner is much, much more valuable than a prospect (who is only 8 months younger btw) that has done nothing but get passed on the Rangers depth chart by multiple players
Rangers are lucky to get just a 3rd for Lundkvist at this point with him demanding a trade

Lundqvist trade
Lundestrom has SIX TIMES as many games in the NHL than Lundkvist (150 vs 25), and defenders take longer to develop than forwards, so Lundestrom is far, far ahead of Lundkvist in development. Moreover, we already know what Lundestrom is capable of, because he's been fulfilling his promise as he progresses, whereas Lundkvist is an almost entirely unknown quantity. I'm with my friend <a href="/users/Salzy" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Salzy</a> -- the most we'd offer for Lundkvist is Groulx, another 200-foot defensively responsible prospect.

Lundqvist trade
Isac Lundestrom is already an established NHLer and worst case is a 3rd liner that plays a 200 ft game
Lundkvist has only proven that Braden Schneider passed him on the Rangers organizational depth chart and he isnt NHL ready
Way off there, the most the Ducks offer for Lundkvist is Groulx

Does Chicago Accept
This would probably get a conversation going, but, if i'm being honest, CHI probably declines this specific offer. Two 1st round picks is nothing to sneeze at, but pushing them to 24 and 25 cheapens the deal quite a bit. Voit and Rindell don't move the needle. Kerfoot really isn't worth much to CHI outside of POSSIBLY being able to flip him. Robertson is promising but hasn't shown much at the NHL level, but he has only played 16 games and is only 21, so there is still time. Also, it's his birthday!

What I would love to see next year but not likely
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>Price hadn't suffered his knee injuries yet and had shown he could carry a team deep into the playoffs. He still had top tier status among the NHL at that time, Gibson has never had that status. Price wasn't worth his contract but teams definitely still thought he did.</div></div>
Yes, he has, the west knows this. The east who basically never sees him play doesn't. Gibson has been a lifer on a small market team overshadowed by it's big brother 40 miles away. That would be like if Price was a lifetime Sens goalie and you asked a Kings fan about him. They wouldn't care, because no one follows the team. However, Montreal would know if Price has been on the Sens.
Gibson not being on that level in your eyes is evidence of the optics difference between big and small market teams.

Room for the deadline
I'll tell you what Anaheim will do. Well give you Terry and the Col 23 2nd we've got laying around for Nylander.
That will give you 5.5 mil in cap space to bank over the season to go get Kaner without a third party retention.
Furthermore, Terry is already experienced at playing with an old, slow center in decline, so he would be a perfect match for Tavares. Hell, he probably puts up more points than last year since Tavares is a marked improvement on Getzlaf's skating.

From the Anaheim perspective those pieces you are willing to part with are low value filler. Norlinder is a mid-tier defensive prospect, Armia is an overpaid 4th liner with term and Allen is a pending UFA. The only thing in that original trade proposal of any real value is the 1st round pick.
So yeah, no way this trade would ever happen. Its not good in the slightest for Anaheim.

Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>it's almost like a significant amount of people keep saying the leafs will have to pay to move him. If the leafs would take something like even a 3rd for him right now he'd be gone</div></div>
I would challenge you to find a current cup competitor that has the cap space and would give you more than a late round pick to get him. Only team that comes to mind who has cap space and is a competitor is Minnesota. Everyone else who can afford him sees no value in him because he is a rental.
Toronto is significantly over the cap, doesn't want to loose Sandin, and attached NMC to everything that moved outside of their league min players and their Coredashians. The only players they can realistically move are Muzzin, Kerfoot, and Holl. Muzzin's only trade home evaporated today when Ana picked up Kulikov, so he is out. Kerfoot is the next biggest contract, and is internally replaceable, and every other GM knows this.
The best deal you would get from ANA is hockey swap Kerfoot for Grant. Minnesota might throw you a late round pick, though their fans seems to think that wont happen. Where else are you going to send him?

Can't understand why Seattle would make that deal. Soucy is worth more than Kerfoot in a TDL. Anderson has absolutely no trade value
I kinda think it's a silly scenario where LA or Anaheim would value "veteran leadership" in Muzzin. Just another phrase meaning overpaid older player. What really holds Muzzin's trade options back is he has two years left at 5.6m. Reason Klingberg signed with the Ducks was 7m was his best offer. Ducks see the value in JK as TDLtrade with his expiring contract
No, having cap Patrick on LTIR doesn't give the Leafs an additional 1.2m in cap space. If that was true the cap strapped Knights would keep him..
Leafs are much better having Robertson and Steeves at LW...combined better that AR,, and get an NHL centre,

Even if Anaheim were willing to take on Muzzin, which the likelihood now is close to zero with the move for Kulikov, it would be necessary for the Leafs to send something like 2 2nds or a first to dump Muzzin. Since the fact of the matter is cap space is extremely valuable, and if Muzzin is only willing to waive for either Anaheim or LA, they can dictate what price they want, and Toronto will have to either accept the price, or ride Muzzin out.

Any chance of Muzzin to Ana evaporated with Kulikov trade earlier today. Sorry bud, Dubas sat on his hands too long.
It's not like Verbeek didn't wait for Dubas to ask him to the dance either, but it looks like Dubas is dancing with himself too.
