A late first, a cap dump, a mid round second and a bottom 4 Dman isn't getting a very good young centerman

Sens D moves
I kinda think Chychrun is somewhat of a tough trade. Who would give up THAT much for his one year till UFA, Teams can just sign UFA Dmen, which there are "many" this offseason
Sens best chance for a good return I would think is at TDL. Chychrun has a good season, his cap especially with retention won't be so onerous to his new team in February.

Getting another 1st round pick will help ease the sting of the Senators having to give one up probably in 2026, for the Dadonov trade debacle. The second part of this is that, since the Kings may not be able to afford him, the Senators push hard to sign Matt Roy.

It would be nice but I have to agree with <a href="/users/CoachCoach" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@CoachCoach</a>. The Wings have other areas that need to be addressed before we start upgrading other positions.

No, the 16th pick is needed to add a wing prospect or to be a trade chip for an upgrade to a position of need (RHD/2C/TOP6W).
Roy on the other hand, makes a lot of sense for the Wings to try and snag in UFA without the cost of pick 15/16.

I need answers. Why would the Sabers take a 1 st round draft steal who played last year. For a third and a four. You are either trolling or you forgot to add something.

Anaheim has Pavel Mintyukov and Olen Zellweger as left shot D (and Fowler but for how long?) Uhro Vaakainen, the pair of Vaaks/Gudas was among the top defensive pairings for shutting down other teams. XGA/60 of 2.07
On top of them, we still have Jackson LaCombe and Tyson Hinds

I think he could be a sneaky pickup. Sorta like C. Eiserman in that both really good at scoring but with Ziemmer not having the best of skating, Eiserman lacks the defense. Plus he's an Alberta kid so could want to stay with the team.

Explanation in thread - Do I finally win over mokumboi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Augustus</b></div><div>In the absence of an explanation, I have to assume this is a Mox-esque defense of your favorite team's assets.
A starting goalie and a 3LD for a 3LD (let's say, a "number 4 or 5 defenceman", in that parlance), a likely later 1st and a 4th. A Cup winning goalie at that. I'll wait to hear more, if you have more. I've shown to be receptive.
...Though I do appreciate a good quip.</div></div>
Binnington walks a fine line between liable and reliable. My complaint with him is the same as Markstrom... he's "not all there" sometimes and because of that, his team's fate teeters on whether he's in a good or bad place. In New Jersey, he's going to be in a bad place, because they don't really protect the net, which means he's probably going to be pretty pissed off with the guys playing in front of him, and he most certainly doesn't appear shy about those things.
I'd entertain giving them a top 12 protected first next year for the guy, but not with the D... the 4th... whatever, that's a scratch ticket

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Augustus</b></div><div>Yeah I'll never truly understand the Blues' needs like you guys do, it's just the way it is lol. For instance, never even heard of Zherenko. As for Krug, Faulk and Schenn, Count Dooku once said "It may be difficult to secure (their) release..."
Anyway, back to the drawing board!</div></div>
Zherenko is perhaps as good as Hofer. I assume he'll get the call the next time the Blues have a goalie out, but Binnington and Hofer haven't missed a start in eons.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Augustus</b></div><div>Forgive my potential ignorance here, but isn't there a cut-off? Players signed beyond a certain date can play in the regular season but are ineligible to play in the playoffs?</div></div>
If you're referring to Howard that would be identical to Mathew Knies with Toronto last year who was eligible for the playoffs.

My offseason fantasy moving forward for both teams and all players
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Augustus</b></div><div>At this point, in hindsight, yeah, the ages and contracts do matter. I wouldn't say the 1st is going the wrong way, but perhaps if it was simply taken out of the deal, and it just being Jarvis and Kotkaniemi for Kadri and Coleman.
I truly believe that these two players from Calgary would be impact pieces for the Hurricanes for at least a few years before they drop off (and the cap will keep going up). A Cup or two due to the veteran presence of these two dressing room and on-ice leaders who can still put up points, worth a gamble, still stickin' by my story. But yeah, take out the 1st, how 'bout it?</div></div>
I still maintain that as soon as you mention Jarvis the trade call ends. In the rumored Pettersson deal, he was not included. In the rumored Timo Meier deal he was not included. In the rumored Tkachuck deal he was not included. All of those players are much better than Coleman and Kadri. Also, the team has plenty of veteran presence with guys like Burns and Staal, and previous cup winners as well. It's not a particularly young team either, so keeping the young guys is important.

Toronto goes All in after 1st round loss
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Augustus</b></div><div>Perhaps during the off-season something could be arranged whereby Marner goes not to the Penguins but to a third team, one that can afford him, perhaps Nashville, in exchange for one of their younger forwards (Evangelista?) and a pick, or D-man like Fabbro, I dunno. But Marner to 3rd team for young replacement forward ready to be something, but way cheaper. That fits Crosby, maybe not Graves, but maybe "Bonehead Brad", quoting my fellow Flames fan colleague Mox lol, can summon something magically capfriendly for them *name drop*.</div></div>
I take everything he says with a pile of salt myself. I love Mitch, but I really would like to see him traded. We need to change the makeup of this team in a big way. Less creampufferie would be kinda nice for once.
