If I was GM
I like the Fischer signing, Hammer buyout, and the Ostapchuk promotion. I feel like that's a fair bridge deal for pinto, as well. Taking a look at your armchair GM teams and I would've rather u been GM then Dorion the last coupla years 100% lol.
I don't agree with getting rid of Norris here tho and Roy at $5mil seems like an overpay even though I'm a fan of the player. Just kick one of the LD over and play Klev instead of scratching him as a young guy. Also, I'd sign Crooker or Smejkal over Kelly from what I've seen lately. Cheers dude.

Sens Add Fabbro
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Just_A_Guess</b></div><div>Realistically? Draft position. We have a lot of talent coming up, we'd be looking to make improvements over additions. Adding draft capital would likely be the best course of action for Nashville.</div></div>
I hear you but I just thought nashville was already loaded to the brim with picks. I can't see them getting a 1st or even 2nd for Fabbro but at least Ottawa has a D man to offer as well that could run the 2nd PP behind Josi. Nashville only has production from him by the looks of it, no?
I don't really know how Trotz does business, however, like how eager he is to bring up talent from the pipeline or if they'd even consider a smaller guy in Brannstrom.

Sens Add Fabbro
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>I've yet to see a compelling argument about why Ottawa shouldn't just keep him as the 3LD. He's an above average 3rd pair defenseman. He looks great when he plays with anyone other than Hamonic. The two biggest concerns on the blueline are Hamonic being a waste of a roster space and Chabot being cursed by a witch to never be healthy.</div></div>
Come playoff time I can't see him being effective. I understand all the underlying numbers says he's doing a great job and that's admirable. But personally, I would rather the bottom D man not make $2 mil, so he's not really paid like the average 3LD to start with. I think he's super talented and a great, likeable kid. Nothing against him other than he needs to be playing in a top 4 role w PP time and that doesn't exist for him here -- for his own sake we should move him. Kleven is like a year away from being the perfect option there. Just my thoughts, compelling to you or not. I have to agree Hammer is by far the biggest issue but PD made him virtually un movable so I ignore it.

Yeah, unfortunately that's my fear about Branny with just about every team. Hopefully some GM out there sees his upside. Cheers for the feedback.
At what position do the Preds look to make additions?

I'm not sure the point of trading for a LW or a LD. Probably our two most sured-up positions on the team.

Philly rumors reported from the offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xspyrit</b></div><div>Are you comparing Brannstrom and Mete? Mete had a decent start in Montreal but as of now, Brannstrom is much much better...
Frost being 17th OA doesn't mean anything today. Draft position only last the first few years for a prospect then it's out of the door completely.</div></div>
First off, JBD was drafted in the first round just one year later after Frost and you can bet that is the only thing keeping him in the lineup (he just scored his first ever last night, albeit a pretty nice one). It doesn't go out the door *completely*.
Secondly, I'm not sure where you lie on the Branny fandom spectrum but statistically Branny is marginally better than Mete while maybe being even smaller physically. I stand by that being a decent comparison to make my point. They need to move him before his value (based completely on the hope that in a top 4 role / PP time he will get points) hits zero. The thing is the fit has to be right, not every team would take calls on him, like I'm guessing torts wouldn't throw him in his lineup.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xspyrit</b></div><div>It was also "reported" that we were going to trade a 1st WITH Joseph to move his contract. It was also reported that Scott freaking Laughton was worth a 1st++
Don't mind this stuff. No way anyone with a hockey brain would trade Pinto for Frost.
Walker could make sense but I'd prefer someone with term and more defensive</div></div>
Yeah hear me out here man. The report of Joseph and a first would have been what Philly was asking for, clearly no hockey mind worth their salt would do that. BUT it shows the intentions of the team their trading with. Reports of a Pinto for Frost swap just goes to show who is on the trading block for that team. I'm aware that nobody would make that swap nor should they. However in both situation I do mind these reports because they're pretty indicative-- to all of us who are not hockey trade insiders-- how these calls are going.

Philly rumors reported from the offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fergy22</b></div><div>Ottawa needs bottom 6 veteran forwards who play well in all 3 zones. I don’t get to see Philly play much but there has to be a reason Tortorella does not lean on Frost ….work ethic, grit , defensive responsibility?
Ottawa has the same D needs as almost every other team , a RHD , Walker ticks that box. He will be in demand.</div></div>
I feel that the Flyers have a surprisingly deep forward core when you really start to look at it. Plus with Torts I'm sure its not hard to lose his trust, I couldn't imagine the current sens roster playing for him, our whole bench would be watching from the presser lol.
Frost is a guy known to be on the block that would be a decent fit with our style. I liked him a lot in his draft year, good Canadian kid. Currently listed 6ft 195lbs. Cherry picking some stats here, but he's a plus 2 in 15 games this season.
But I whole heartedly agree with you in that Ottawa needs another Giroux type, a vet who plays all 3 zones. I would love to hear of some potential guys that teams are known to be taking calls on.

Philly rumors reported from the offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xspyrit</b></div><div>Walker is UFA after the end of the season, his value as a rental is not much more than Kubalik so let's say Kubalik + 4th
So that would mean 1st + JBD for Morgan Frost...
Problem is that 2024 1st is unknown and could land just about anywhere. It would need to be Boston's 1st and Walker would need to come with a reasonable extension for me to accept
But seriously, we don't really need Frost that much (once both Pinto and Greig are in the lineup, plus there's Jarventie and Ostapchuk developing in the AHL)
It was also "reported" that we were going to trade a 1st WITH Joseph to move his contract. It was also reported that Scott freaking Laughton was worth a 1st++
Don't mind this stuff. No way anyone with a hockey brain would trade Pinto for Frost.

Well said, I agree with most things here. But my idea was the first was due to all that retained salary, which Philly is one of the few teams in the NHL that could actually afford. Plus, everybody knows walker will be in high demand at the TDL, so if he were to come here earlier with an extension his price will be high too. I tossed up the idea of Branny to avoid a retention spot but I'm not sure he would be a fit there at all (they have a similar small guy in Mete bouncing up and down between the farm already). And hey if JBD is avoidable that would be even better.
Also Frost was like a 17th overall in his draft. He's one of the few guys with upside this time of year that is actually known to be on the trading block. You can't really hit every box with these trades or else they wouldn't be dealt in the first place. Frost could help the team in the very short term, letting those guys you mentioned develop even longer which never hurts.
I look at a trade right now as a way to help save the season before Pinto returns and make the post for once. And if Pinto does in fact take his QO, and both those Philly salaries are retained at 50%, you can see that the dollars work out to have an extra FWD and D every night. A lot of ifs, but it makes the teams chances of finally making it into the first round better.

I agree the fit would be much better I just don't think the Flyers will be sellers just for the sake of it. Farabee is of value to them, and they're actually winning with him in the lineup, unlike frost who seems to need a change in scenery.

Zero? A frost and pinto swap has been well reported and the sens have been calling on Walker since he was on the block in LA. He's a RD, they've needed one for a while now. Not easy to do ≠ zero interest,

To be fair, this is a proposal for this time of year as well and there would be no retention asked for Tanev, either. So from my view its similar to the Zadorov trade minus the whole agent stuff. Also, Branny (RFA) and Kubalik (UFA) are both free agents at the end of the season. Calgary would have options in this hockey trade instead of just a late first rounder from elsewhere.

Pinto Return Jan 21st
See I'm not so sure JBD gets claimed so fast, he already made it through at least once this year. And what has he really improved on in that time, shot blocking? Even if he were to get claimed, the same thing with Lassi could happen and Ottawa is the first team to be able to reclaim him back again.
And you make a solid point about Kubalik-- he's first on my list to trade off this team. Two and a half mil on the fourth line would be pretty useless (even tho I think he's an underrated in a checking role, he's created some goals this year from his work below the goal line). I'd love to know which teams have been kicking tires on him (I heard teams are) as I hate thinking of potential trades from complete thin air. Has there been any rumors yet?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Slendermin</b></div><div>Sincerely asking here cause I'm not dialed on Sens players at the moment, but why is Norris relegated to 3LW in this? Has he been playing that poorly to have Greig and Pinto jump over him in C depth?</div></div>
He's been looking rough after coming back from his shoulder surgery. Going to the wing would protect him from taking so many faceoffs. Also, e used to have a 200-foot game but not anymore. As a winger, he can focus on trying to get back into his 35-goal form in just 66 games a few seasons ago. Basically, he's just a PP merchant. Grieg is much more reliable in his own zone.
