Shesterkin benefited from being pushed by back up goalie Jonathan Quick this season - especially allowing him to ramp up his game, overall, as the year rolled along. Top tier NHL starter. Not huge in the net but plenty athletic. Athletic. Tracks very well. Moves laterally quickly. Provides the Rangers the kind of goaltending that could contribute to a deep playoff run. A young college prospect who has signed with the NYR. The Rangers drafted Chmelar in the 4th round (144th) in 2021 Big body. Long reach. Has the ability to 'pick pocket' opponents and create turnovers with his length. Occasionally pounces on lose pucks around the crease. When time and space allows he has a quick release - especially from between the hash marks in the offensive zone. On the PP his stature creates issues for opponents when he gets in the 'eyes' of goaltenders setting screens. Average plus skater. Room for much more explosiveness out of the gate. Needs time to define himself overall. Leans 13F / Recall forward to start - with potential to provide some depth scoring. 16 mars 202423 mars 2024

L3
Wennberg is a player who is making too much money for his output offensively ($4.5M) - but he does play a variety of roles for Seattle. Good size. Plays with pace. Most of his offense comes from the perimeter. Not over powering physically. Willing to get in shooting lanes and block shots. Through 55GP, Wennberg averaged 18:40 TOI and was being deployed in all situations. He chips in with secondary offense (8G-14A). Pending UFA with a ten team no trade clause in his contract. Middle six forward / leaning third line. 19 févr. 202423 févr. 2024

L3
It's been a tough year for Roslovic. He started the season relatively well - scoring 2G-6A in his first 14GP - but he's now suffered through a prolonged slump that has resulted in 0G - 4A in 21GP from November 11th - January 30th. His game has been perplexing. When he's 'on' he has the hockey sense, pace, and skill to be deployed in a variety of situations. Leans distributor more than shooter but has some net drive in his game via zone entries / when he gains the edge in transition. His TOI in CBJ has been on the decline - averaging between 11:00 - 15:00 per game - mostly at even strength - some secondary power-play - and no role on the penalty kill. Pending UFA. Contract carries an AAV of $4M. Bottom six forward who, when at his best, can slide in to a middle six role. Ability to play both center and the wing is a plus.28 janv. 20246 févr. 2024

Wennberg is proving to be a valuable player for the Kraken. He averages over 18:00 TOI - deployed in all situations. Plays fast. A motion player who is mostly creative from the perimeter, but does find pucks around the crease and below the goal line on occasion. Trusted defensively. Wins over 50% of his draws. Blocks shots. Uses his quickness and long reach as advantage keeping opponents to the outside. Third line skill set overall - but playing second line minutes - Secondary layer of offense.28 nov. 20233 déc. 2023

Fox is skating in his fifth NHL season. It generally takes defenceman longer to adjust to the pace and detail of the NHL game. Incredibly, Fox has never had a minus season (on the goals for/goal against scale) He's a combined (+90) so far in his young career. He's already a perennial All-Star. He also owns a Norris Trophy (NHL's Top 'D') from the year 20/21. Fox logs an average of 22:22 TOI. There isn't a match-up the Rangers are concerned about when tapping him to role over the boards. He's used in all situations. He has elite vision distributing the puck and quarterbacking the PP. He doesn't have the hardest shot in the league, but he knows how to place the puck and score. Fox isn't a burner. Watch him closely. He's not the fastest skater in the NHL. What he has in spades is elite hockey IQ. He's one of the smartest players in the entire NHL. He's calculating. New York Rangers first round pick in 2023. Elite offensive talent. Creative. Fantastic vision. Hard to contain in small areas. Slippery coming off the wall and finding space between the hash marks in high danger areas. Skating has been an area of concern but he is trending in a positive direction. His stride is sound. His season had some ups and downs. His club team (SSM) were deep at the center ice position resulting in less quality ice. He has good size, moves well, shows willingness to go to the hard areas with and without the puck and can be used in all situations if required.
