RONDE 1ÉQUIPEORIGINALJOUEURDéTAILS
1Logo de Sharks de San Jose-Easy
2Logo de Blackhawks de Chicago-I know a lot of Hawks fans will be upset if it's not Demidov, but Levshunov is straight up the most complete D prospect I've seen come through the draft since Dahlin IMO, and with them likely being a bottom feeder again next year + the way the market typically works they'll get more than their fair share of chances to address forward long term
3Logo de Ducks d'Anaheim-Been my semi-bold prediction since April and I stand by it. Yakemchuk to the Ducks just makes sense to me here
4Logo de Blue Jackets de Columbus-I've seen a lot of theories about where Demidov will end up, but with CLB strong Russian environment and no clear lack in their organizational depth charts, going BPA to hopefully land a superstar strikes me as the right play here
5Logo de Canadiens de Montréal-Another somewhat surprising pick here, Montreal is a team that has never been afraid to just go for their guy, and with Sennecke being a good stylistic fit and his stock skyrocketing I think this is where he ends up draft day
6Logo de Utah Hockey Club-Ideally I think Utah might prefer to land a player with more clear PP1 upside with this selection, but if the board shakes out this way come draft day I have a hard time seeing them say no to a unicorn of a prospect like Silayev.
7Logo de Sénateurs d'Ottawa-I think if Dickinson is here that Philly will trade for this pick, but for the sake of this exercise I think Parekh should be the clear choice here
8Logo de Kraken de Seattle-Seattle should 100% take the swing on a defender here, and if Dickinson happens to be on the board still at this point I think he fits like a glove with the sort of defenseman Seattle has seemed to prefer early on in their existence
9Logo de Flames de Calgary-The Iginla debate is going to dominate this pick, but I truly don't see any way Calgary could justify passing on Lindstrom if he slips this far
10Logo de Devils du New Jersey-Kind of similar dilemma that I think Utah will have with their pick, I think NJ would probably prefer to go forward here in a perfect World, but I don't see them allowing a talent like Buium to slide past them if he is sitting there at 10
11Logo de Sabres de Buffalo-I think this pick is traded before draft day, but with the board playing out this way I think landing a very projectible forward with high upside and a bit more physical tools than some of their other forward prospects would make sense for Buffalo here
12Logo de Flyers de Philadelphie-This will strictly be a debate between Helenius and Catton should the board play out this way up to this point. Ultimately, I think the choice will be Helenius due to there being more certainty regarding his ability to stick at Center long term in the NHL
13Logo de Wild du Minnesota-I don't like the idea of Minnesota preferring a safer D here like a lot of people seem to think. I also don't see Catton being the pick due to their apparent desire to get bigger, so instead they go with the next best available Center who I think had a stronger finish to his DY than he often gets credit for
14Logo de Sharks de San JoseLogo de Penguins de PittsburghWith how mega-stupid loaded they are at forward at this point, I think taking a hyper-physical D who is a late risers a solid pick here for the Sharks
15Logo de Red Wings de Detroit-This is Catton's absolute floor, period. Detroit with the steal of the first round
16Logo de Blues de St-Louis-I think Emery will go a bit higher than a lot of people might think on draft day. Given his excellent defensive play, great toolkit, and room to grow his game with the puck on his stick, this strikes me as a great pick for the Blues
17Logo de Capitals de Washington-Given that Washington has primarily swung on forwards in recent memory and has a somewhat lacking D prospect pool, I think they're happy to add a guy whose stock dropped a bit this year but who still has top-pair upside in Jiricek
18Logo de Blackhawks de ChicagoLogo de Islanders de New YorkAfter making a difficult decision to go D at 2, the Hawks would be ecstatic to land a forward with as high of a ceiling as Eiserman does at 18. I also believe the fact that there's a clear path to an NHL job as early as 2025 makes them more comfortable about the NCAA factor here
19Logo de Golden Knights de Vegas-Vegas lives and dies by a simple philosophy: play good hockey or get out. I think they have no issue taking the clear BPA here despite some of the other smoke around this player.
20Logo de Islanders de New YorkLogo de Lightning de Tampa BayWith the Russian factor starting to feel less and less important, why wouldn't NYI go for a forward with a toolkit as tempting as Chernyshov's here?
21Logo de Kings de Los Angeles-Another guy whose stock has skyrocketed leading up to the draft, I think landing a smart 200-foot Center in Luchanko is a solid add for the Kings here. Could maybe see them reaching on a D if someone is there who they really like here
22Logo de Predators de Nashville-For a team that has openly stated that the draft should be a place for big swings, I could see them having the balls to take a winger as small as Stiga here. The statistical profile isn't the greatest but it's impossible to watch this guy play and not notice him every single second he's on the ice. If he hits I think he has the highest ceiling of any forward taking outside of the top-20 left in this draft.
23Logo de Maple Leafs de Toronto-I feel like the Leafs have been chasing the idea of a big, physical blue line for a short eternity now, and with this pick they finally decide to start attempting to grow those types of players in house
24Logo de Avalanche du Colorado-I see a World where after a somewhat underwhelming men's WC paired with other teams simply having different needs that MBN could slip. Colorado would be more than happy to take a guy as close to being NHL ready as he is with this pick
25Logo de Sénateurs d'OttawaLogo de Bruins de BostonA big, high character, high motor Center feels like a match made in heaven for what the Sens should probably want out of this pick
26Logo de Canadiens de MontréalLogo de Jets de WinnipegHonestly, you could copy and paste the pick 25 description here
27Logo de Hurricanes de la Caroline-Carolina gets a steal here as they always seem to do. Must be nice to root for a franchise that understands the concept of listening to numbers as well as they do...
28Logo de Flames de CalgaryLogo de Canucks de VancouverI think Greentree falls a bit come draft day, and I don't see the flames having any issues adding another big forward with high offensive upside at this pick
29Logo de Stars de Dallas-I think a lot of teams will overanalyze Parascak, but the reality is you have to be a damn good player to score the way here did last season, and the Stars won't hesitate to take him as late as 29
30Logo de Rangers de New York-I'm not really sure what the Rangers are going to try to do with this pick but I think the goal will be to add a player who brings elements they're currently lacking in. Adding a unicorn of a player in Letourneau seems like a good fit here
31Logo de Flyers de PhiladelphieLogo de Panthers de la FlorideI view it more likely that they double down on another Center here than anything else.
32Logo de Ducks d'AnaheimLogo de Oilers d'EdmontonAnaheim closes out the first round by adding another big RHD into the pool, turning a position of weakness into a position of strength in 1 night

I have the same first 3 picks with Celebrini Levshunov and Yakemchuk.

But per Pronman, it’s between Silayev Lindstrom and Sennecke for CB. I think they will take their 2C with Lindstrom. Doesn’t seem like they’re interested in Demidov

Then at 5, Demidov would be available at MTL takes him

My Mock

1) Celebrini
2) Levshunov
3) Yakemchuk
4) Lindstrom
5) Demidov
6) Buium
7) Parekh
8) Dickinson
9) Silayev
10) Ignila
11) Sennecke
12) Catton
13) Eiserman
14) Jiricek
15) MBN

I know it’s no trades but the dream would be to trade down a bit and then move back up with those assets and getting Yakemchuk and MBN in the process

I've heard mixed reports on CLB, heard one source say "there's no shot they let Demidov go past them", and on the other side have heard the same thing you did from Pronman. Could easily see a scenario where Lindstrom Demidov and Sennecke kind of play musical chairs depending on the team picking them

I could maybe see that working out. I think if Yak is there guy at 3 then they won't do anything to risk losing out on him (reminds me a bit of McTavish back in 21'), but if a guy like MBN slips I think that's a logical trade up target
