JVR does not get you Sami Vatanen. JVR is a rental and wouldn’t sign a contract extension with the Ducks. The Ducks don’t have the cap space to pay him the money he will want. If they trade Vatanen, they need to get an impact center whose cheap and has term.

Once again a rental in JVR doesn't get you Vatanen, And Detroit isn't retaining on Green for scraps. Detroit wont retain on Green if a 2018 1st round pick isn't included in the deal.

Lark: You'll be holding your breath a long time thinking you are getting a first for a one dimensional 32 year old Green. Likely retaining 100% (and the player) at the trade deadline!

Of course, we are all holding our breath, when Trouba who wants to play in Detroit so much signs a 1m a year for 7 years as a UFA.

This was assuming The Ducks sign JVR to a 4yr, $20-$22m contract which I think they could afford. I like Vatanen....but think he’s sitting as 3-4 defensive man behind Lind and Fowler? Maybe wishful thinking coming from Leaf fan in myself. If Rak moves to centre which I know he could play, the Ducks could be looking for a first/second line winger li,e JVR.

Possibly....but I think Tavares plays the free agency market this summer and anyone who trades for him before nothing more than a top scoring expensive rental. I think the isles could entertain a trade of lesser value for him

No one would would trade a 1st for Green at deadline. They’d be lucky to get Bracco for him and to retain a bit of $$
