It makes sense for you to do since Backlund's contract is going to expire, and Stepan is under contract until 2021. They are very similar players, but you're getting more term with Stepan. Since your team appears to be in win-now mode, you can get a more experienced center who's been to the Finals. Him centering Tkachuk and Marner would be really good. You're only sacrificing a couple of late round picks that are long-shots to be NHLers anyway
