The trend over the past 10 years has been to trade our young star players. Thornton, Kessel, Seguin, Hamilton, and now, Pastrnak, Morrow, Subban, Koko and Trotman.
The Thornton trade was a win for the Bruins, although Jumbo Joe was the prototypical Bruin, it freed up the Bruins to sign Zee and Savard.
The Kessel trade was amazing, in that it brought in Seguin, Hamilton and Jared Knight.
The Bruins then made an extremely impactful mistake in trading Seguin, although, the return has the potential to still be good (especially if Eriksson resigns), due to the fact that they brought in an elite 2-way forward, a potential top-4 dman and Jimmy Hayes (through Reilly Smith).
Although, Sweeny received many negative responses from the Hamilton trade, I feel like it is too young to judge just yet...Senyshyn showed a lot of potential in rookie camp (9pts in 3 games), Lauzon is said to be a good dman and Karlsson has a lot of potential.
This time though, the Bruins would be selling the farm to a team that needs it, and has enough to offer up in order for the Bruins to get better, long term and short term.
Subban, Pastrnak, Koko, Trotman and Morrow, the Bruins top 5 prospects (after Collin Miller - who is, in my opinion, untouchable) along with a sweetner, 2nd round pick, for Ryan Ellis, Jackman and a 1st round pick. The Preds won't be going deep this playoff season, and are one major injury away from falling out of the playoff race completely. Therefore, the Bruins would give up an elite prospect goaltender in Subban, an elite scorer in Pastrnak (yes Bruins fans, it's best to do this, he is not going to fit the Bruins system, give him away now, while he has a lot of value), Koko (a skilled, and potential top 9 centre), Trotman, a future top 6 dman and Morrow a future top 4 dman....all for two top-4 dman, what the Bruins desperately need, and a 1st rounder, to make it three for the second year in a row.
I would either stop there, or continue going, and trade Jackman to the Penguins, who also are in desperate need of a top four dman, for Cole, a bottom 4dman, with a retained salary.
Lastly, I would trade two throw-away picks for a 50% contracted Fayne, just to add as much depth as possible to the Bruins defensive core.
Hi Ros. Really don't know if all these moves make the Bruins better. Nashville trade....Is 34 year old Jackman a top 4 Dman? Why don't the Pens and Preds just exchange Cole and Jackman as you suggest, instead of the 3rd party Boston?
Is 25 year old Trotman an difference maker for Preds, Koko might be a top 9 forward but why isn't he in the NHL? Morrow you suggest is a top 4 Dman in the future, (maybe the Bruins should keep him, and Subban, is he really and elite prospect as you suggest?
The trade itself might be fair, if some of the assumptions you said are correct. Just think some of the evaluations of the players are high. Just think steady Ellis and a mid round first rounder might be too much give up for a bunch of "might be's".
Fayne....Seems like the Oilers don't really want him. Do the Bruins want half his contract for 3 years, or is there better value out there for upcoming UFAs?
I just vomited all over my computer. Were you serious with these trades? OMG, WOOF WOOF WOOF. Bruins just got worse. thank god you aren't in a management position.
ChiaPet is gone, so the trend is done. I need to bath after reading this. Please stop, I'm back now, and ready to tear these BROOTUL proposals apart.
