As a Leafs fan I would make this trade, although it's not because I think we will get better production out of Staal vs. Tyler Bozak! For 2017 I would think it's pretty much a coin toss. A prospect and a pick for the extra year of Staal, on a very team friendly contract seems about fair. However having said that I would agree with alpeters. . . . WHY would Minny do that? Any chance this could be worked into a bigger deal, Minny has some escess in solid RD options that have been thrown out there all summer long.

Staal is much much much better than bozak. Only delusional leafs fans think bozak is good.

I guess as a frustrated Sabres fan, at this point there's not much to look forward to other than "trolling" the occasional Bozak/Leafs posts! Enjoy your season!

I think Minny is happy with their deep center core, and trading Staal really doesn't help. Staal is on a much cheaper contract then Bozak, and statistically is better as well. Staal found his game in minny, I doubt he could succeed any where else. Also, the last time he played in a really high pressure market, he never performed (nyr), so Minny is a good option for him.
