Ottawa is having D problems and they're looking for a defensive defenseman who has a lot of experience. This is just one idea I heard people kicking around on other forums. Ottawa gets their defenseman in Staal and a young high ceiling forward in Miller. Rangers get Hoffman back as well as Weircoich
The only issue I see is will Staal be willing to waive his NTC to go to Ottawa? And why would the Senators part with a young, cheap top-6 forward like Hoffman?
Again, I'm all for it, but I just don't realistically see this trade being accepted by Ottawa or Staal.
Agree with blueshirts94 last line. Ottawa being a budget minded team wouldn't want the long contract of Staal. Like most or all teams, you can't really trade your way outta problems. Your players have to work their way through it.
