Even though this is to Detroit this is more of a waiver claim for any team as larry brooks said this was a possibility. Also, don't think that is enough for chychrun but am not sure

Cap wise I don't think Detroit can really absorb 8 million of Trouba, we have some expensive rfas still.

If NYR does go down the waiver route, I think Trouba would get picked up before DET. Here are teams ahead of DET in waiver priority (reverse standings order from the previous season until Nov): SJS, CHI, ANA, CBJ, MTL, UTA, OTT, SEA, CGY, NJD, BUF, PHI, MIN, PIT. This should be an interesting offseason drama.

Trouba would be picked up on on waivers almost immediately. There are so many teams with tons of cap space that are in need of the qualities he possesses. Is he worth 8m per year? No, but with only 2 years left on his contract and not having to give up assets to get him, teams would be interested for sure.
