I think Buffalo might trade one of their smaller pivots for more of a power player. There are a number of forward prospects that could meet that idea, I am not sure which name Winnipeg would want or which the Sabres would part with for McGoarty.

You're not getting a former 1st round prospect for a former 1st round prospect who is demanding out. That's not how the NHL works. If it happens, some team grossly overpaid. After this weekends draft, if the sabres did it, it no longer would completely shock me; it would just be a bad move.
